I'm quite intrigued by how this'll sound and how well it'll likely do for her. Four years is a long time to be away, and as mentioned the climate is completely different now. Cheryl was still benefiting from held back releases in 2014!

I think if we were to compare her to the likes of Rita Ora & Jess Glynne (I feel like both have taken her place as the major British pop girls in her absence), their singles tend to debut in the Top 20 in week 1 before climbing. So if Cheryl's comeback single debuted within the Top 20 that would in theory be an excellent start for her. I wonder if she's knowledgeable about how the chart has changed though and that she therefore needs to lower her expectations - because of course her lead singles from her first four albums all debuted at #1. She's used to immediate results, a build up (outside of post-album single releases) will be alien to her.

Hopefully there's a good strategy in place and that she has great support from Spotify/Apple. Obviously it didn't matter as much in 2014, but her streaming for Crazy Stupid Love wasn't amazing (peak of #22 in the streaming chart), whereas I Don't Care was surprisingly quite strong (#8) so it's not totally inconceivable that she'll get support on these platforms this time.

According to The Sun, Cheryl is signed to the dance label 3Beat. Interesting choice...!

Okay but when is this coming? She's already filmed the music video apparently, it's directed by Sophie Muller.

She's basically entering Pixie / Tulisa territory... To go from Polydor to this? mellow.gif

This is giving me major ''Dannii signing to All Around The World'' teas.

And we all know how that turned out.

TXF got under 4m viewers last night, I never thought i'd say this, but i'm glad Cheryl decided not to return to TXF. Its a sinking ship and she or her team made a very wise choice selecting The Greatest Dancer, which I assume will start in the New Year?

I'm surprised too by the label choice, but hopefully, there will be enough of a budget to support the campaign effectively. I'm not holding out for a number one, but I hope she achieves some kind of 'modern hit'. There is no build up on her social media, which worries me, but the press seem to be creating something of a buzz for her.

Hope we get some kind of official news this week.

I think any big label knows Cheryl’s music career isn’t going to achieve the same heights as it was. I’m sure her last actual radio hot was ‘parachute’. I don’t recall hesring any of her music post that on the radio regularly.

Call My Name?

I do agree with your general point though. I don't think there is a public appetite for new Cheryl music but then I don't think she's firmly in archive territory either. All comes down to whether this comeback track captures the public's attention. The label doesn't sound promising.

A nice top 25 hit would be an incredible result.

I wonder whether Cheryl would see it that way! I guess it depends entirely on what her understanding of the charts is these days. With her being accustomed to #1 hits with lead singles, I wonder whether she'd look at, say, a low Top 20 peak and think of that as being a good enough result.

All the singles were Radio 1 supported at least (except the #70 one).

I legit haven't heard of any of their artists and they boast they achieved their first number one in 2011 (After starting in 1989) with Loca People.

I disappear, but have faith in queen Cheryl.
