Lemar - the only decent artist to come out of Fame Academy! Glad I wasn't the only one who incorrectly guessed him laugh.gif

Leader board 2

Checking in with the leader board again after the next 6 questions and there are still 3 players with maximum marks. Well done to AaronTM, Jade and xajnipi. M4NGO would be top too if he hadn’t missed up his pronouns on the ‘Marry You’ question! There are still only 10 points separating the top 11 players so it’s all to play for over the last 5 questions.

Rank Name (Score)
1 AaronTM (60)

Question 13

The Divine Comedy sang about a coach company on this top 10 single

Picture: Rihanna

Written question: National Express

Answer Smash: Rihannational Express

Commentary:
A rather glamourous looking Rihanna is featured in this question with probably the most well remembered Divine Comedy song ‘National Express’ which is all about taking a ride on a National Express coach (personally I prefer ‘Something for the weekend’).

Five points: awardinary, Paulgilb, xajnipi, TS0301, jlj, M4NGO, lordp, chrissmith276, ultrafolklore, dj_tim_e, AaronTM, PeteFromLeeds, Mack., Ansel, King Rollo, Cremey, vancey, MrAndrewMa, Riser, RabbitFurCoat, jimwatts, Jade, Jester, Jahq, dandy*, Chez Wombat, dan-G, oof

Four points: Bjork

One point: Adele (Kate Nashional express)
CianS92 (Rihanna + some British Bus Company)
n4yr (Rihanna)
Bré (Rihanna something)

No points: ...ready for it, Vibe, MiichaelKing21

Question 14

The name of the last UK Eurovision entry to hit No.1

Picture: Babylon Zoo

Written question: Ooh Aah...Just a Little Bit

Answer Smash: Babylon Zooh Aah...Just a Little Bit

Commentary:
One of my favourite answers again….the photo was maybe a little obscure but it featured Jas Mann of the band Babylon Zoo. Babylon Zoo of course spent 5 weeks at number one with Spaceman, although they struggled to follow up that success with only 3 other minor hits to their name. The last Eurovision entry by the UK to hit the number one spot was Gina G’s Ooh Aah..Just a Little Bit. It may have only come 8th on the night but it was an international hit, even reaching number 12 in America. *PeteFromLeeds gave the answer ‘Annie Mac-ing Your Mind Up’ which was genius but very wrong!!

Five points: M4NGO, lordp, vancey, Jester, dandy*, oof

One point: Adele (Ooh ah just a little bit)
Bjork (BabylonZooLoveShineALight)
chrissmith276 (Ooh Ah Just A Little Bit)
Riser (Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit)
jimwatts (Betty Booh Aah... Just A Little Bit)
Jahq (Oooh Ahh...Just a Little Bit)
Chez Wombat (ATBOoh Aah Just a Little Bit)
dan-G (ooh aah just a little bit)

Half a point: Mack. (LordeOohAah)

No points: awardinary, Paulgilb, xajnipi, TS0301, jlj, CianS92, ultrafolklore, dj_tim_e, AaronTM, PeteFromLeeds, Ansel, King Rollo, n4yr, ...ready for it, Cremey, Vibe, MiichaelKing21, MrAndrewMa, RabbitFurCoat, Jade, Bré

Question 15

Former lead singer of the Stone Roses who had the F.E.A.R

Picture: Kasabian

Written question: Ian Brown

Answer Smash: Kasbian Brown

Commentary:
Fairly straight forward this one. The photo was over the most well-known line up of Kasabian although they have just recently lost their lead singer Tom Meighan who left the band due to an assault charge. The lead singer of the influential 80s band the Stone Roses was Ian Brown. Ian had 15 top 40 hits of his own including F.E.A.R. which reach the top 15 in 2001. *PeteFromLeeds tried to think of someone with the name Andrew rather than Ian!

Five points: awardinary, Paulgilb, Adele, TS0301, CianS92, M4NGO, lordp, ultrafolklore, dj_tim_e, AaronTM, Mack., King Rollo, Cremey, MrAndrewMa, Riser, RabbitFurCoat, jimwatts, Jade, Chez Wombat, dan-G, Bré

Four points: Bjork

One point: chrissmith276 (Ian Brown)
PeteFromLeeds (Kasabiandrew someoneorother)
Jester (Ian brown)
Jahq (Ian Brown)
dandy* (... Ian Brown)

Question 14 was genuinely the easiest one for me I'm very surprised how many stumbled there - I guess it does help that I randomly listened to spaceman earlier that day to remember how it goes. He's not the most recognisable figure!

Question 16

Elton John Instrumental single reached the UK top 5 (tenuously related to November the 5th)

Picture: Debbie Gibson

Written question: Song for Guy

Answer Smash: Debbie Gibsong for Guy

Commentary:
One of the lowest scoring questions – maybe people have forgotten about Debbie Gibson, the teen singer-songwriter, who was pitted as Tiffany’s rival in the late 80s. The Elton John single is Song for Guy. One of the few singles Elton released which he is the only writer on. This is mainly due to it being an instrumental and therefore he didn’t need to collaborate with a lyricist. *Who is Melissa Jackson?

Five points: M4NGO, lordp, dj_tim_e, King Rollo, MrAndrewMa, Riser

Four points: Bjork

One point: Paulgilb (Melissa Jacksong For Guy)
Adele (Song for guy)
chrissmith276 (Song For Guy)
dan-G (song for guy)

I actually didn't recognise Kasabian from that picture but they fit with Ian so that was lucky!

Question 17

Daft Punk’s Album which was home to the single ‘Get Lucky’

Picture: Niall Horan

Written question: Random Access Memories

Answer Smash: Niall Horandom Access Memories

Commentary:
For the final question we’re back to more people scoring highly. The photo shows Niall Horan, formally of One Direction fame, in a moody, black and white shot. The Daft Punk album, their most recent and only number one, is called Random Access Memories and this is the second time it’s come up during the quizzes recently. *Genius but wrong guesses of album titles included Anthology by King Rollo and Run to the Dancefloor but MiichaelKing21. Mack gets two points for the weird incomplete answers(!) and Jester loses a half point for only giving a first name.

Five points: awardinary, TS0301, CianS92, M4NGO, lordp, chrissmith276, ultrafolklore, dj_tim_e, AaronTM, PeteFromLeeds, Ansel, n4yr, Cremey, MrAndrewMa, Riser, RabbitFurCoat, jimwatts, Jade, Jahq, dandy*, Chez Wombat, dan-G, oof, Bré

Two points: Mack. (NiallAccessMemories)

One point: Paulgilb (Random Access Memories)
jlj (Random access memories )
King Rollo (niallhoranthology)
MiichaelKing21 (Niall Horun To The DanceFloor)

Half a point: Jester (Niall)

No points: xajnipi, Adele, Bjork, ...ready for it, vancey, Vibe

I should have got the Daft Punk album but just couldn't think of the name. I would have remembered if I had used 'ran' rather than 'an'.

A solid score, definitely couldn't have done much better - very few missed points looking at what I didn't get.

Good quiz idea, enjoyed playing it. Hopefully a similar participation for Round 8 - don't forget to enter!
