If we separate the song into its different components, which part is your favourite? Gaga's verse: I only asked you to show me a real good time Chorus: I'd rather be dry, but at least I'm alive Ariana's verse: Livin' in a world where no one's innocent Pre-chorus (Gaga + Ariana): It's coming down on me, water like misery, it's coming down on me, i'm ready, rain, on, me. Bridge: Hands up to the sky, I'll be your galaxy Outro: I hear the thunder comin' down, won't you rain on me? Use the words in bold for ease of reference |

I absolutely love the pre-chorus, particular when it's Ariana and Gaga together, but also the bridge. I think the latter is my favourite because it's Gaga being... GAGA. Her kookiness really shines through and then it EXPLODES into the final chorus

If I had to choose one, "I'd rather be dry, but at least I'm alive."

I think it has to be the chorus as well as RAIN. ON. ME. and the post-chorus breakdown. The last chorus is also dreamy as it has all those ad-libs!

What a way to end the song on a high! |

I like the kookiness of it but it feels a little underbaked for me because as soon as it starts, within moments you can hear the instrumental building for the final chorus. I'd rather it was little longer and maybe had an instrumental change for a bit before building back to the chorus. |

I'd rather it was little longer and maybe had an instrumental change for a bit before building back to the chorus. I think it's because on my first listen I was totally enamoured by it all and then when Gaga truly came out for this I let out a very loud audible scream and how glad I was that she back being kooky and enjoying her dance-pop music and since then, I always anticipate it coming. I can see why it wouldn't be everyone's favourite part though |

I interpreted the "I'd rather be dry but at least I'm alive" differently at first - I thought it was a metaphor for her saying she'd rather not have shit thrown down on her constantly but she's still here and she's still alive and to appreciate that fact so bring it on, but in the Zane interview she says -
"I can either lash the hell outta myself every day for continuing to drink or I could just be happy that I'm still alive and keep going and feel good enough. I am good enough. It's not perfect but I'm imperfectly imperfect." So it's still somewhat connected to what I was thinking - basically be appreciative/happy that you're fortunate enough to be alive. What a lyric. |

Specifically the “Rain. On. Me.” into the dance break is my fave. It’s such an impactful moment and was a shock the first time I heard it
The last chorus is incredible too I love the chorus over the upbeat break instrumental |

And the ending "I hear the thunder comin' down, won't you rain on me?" is a MOMENT.

Seriously though, I'd have to agree with this post:
I think it has to be the chorus as well as RAIN. ON. ME. and the post-chorus breakdown. The last chorus is also dreamy as it has all those ad-libs! Also, does anyone get 'G.U.Y' bridge vibes from the bridge in this? |
