Full Top 50 of the show that aired on Ch5 tonight, shockingly Only Fools & Horses was only at 7!!!
Quite a few that never made the list too. Pleased to see Red Dwarf in the Top 10, and Friends. I can see why Blackadder is so high but i would have thought Only Fools deserved to be No.1 Personally not a fan of some of the more modern stuff though, prefer the classic sitcoms! I like Mrs Browns Boys though, that has a classic feel to it and very funny. Ones that missed out include Rising Damp, Reggie Perrin, Are You Being Served, Bread, Just Good Friends, The Liver Birds, The Likely Lads, Goodnight Sweetheart, Some Mothers Do Ave Em, Citizen Smith, On The Buses, My Family, The Upper Hand, Brush Strokes and Duty Free. **** #50 Man About The House **** **** #49 Twenty Twelve **** **** #48 Malcolm In The Middle **** **** #47 To The Manor Born **** **** #46 Men Behaving Badly **** **** #45 Fresh Prince of Bel-Air **** **** #44 Steptoe And Son **** **** #43 Birds of A Feather **** **** #42 Royale Family **** **** #41 Parks & Recreation **** **** #40 Open All Hours **** **** #39 Outnumbered **** **** #38 Gavin & Stacey **** **** #37 Dinner Ladies **** **** #36 Will & Grace **** **** #35 The Golden Girls **** **** #34 Keeping Up Appearances **** **** #33 30 Rock **** **** #32 The Good Life **** **** #31 Miranda **** **** #30 Hi-De-Hi ! **** **** #29 One Foot In The Grave **** **** #28 Cheers **** **** #27 M*A*S*H **** **** #26 Modern Family **** **** #25 Mrs. Brown's Boys **** **** #24 Vicar of Dibley **** **** #23 The New Statesman **** **** #22 Yes Minister **** **** #21 Seinfeld **** **** #20 Dad's Army **** **** #19 Spaced **** **** #18 Arrested Development **** **** #17 Absolutely Fabulous **** **** #16 Inbetweeners **** **** #15 Porridge **** **** #14 Big Bang Theory **** **** #13 The IT Crowd **** **** #12 Peep Show **** **** #11 Frasier **** **** #10 Ever Decreasing Circles **** **** #9 Red Dwarf **** **** #8 I'm Alan Partridge **** **** #7 Only Fools And Horses **** **** #6 Allo Allo **** **** #5 The Young Ones **** **** #4 Fawlty Towers **** **** #3 Friends **** **** #2 Father Ted **** **** #1 Blackadder **** |

Very surprised that Are You Being Served and Some Mothers... weren't in the Top 50.

Have to admit I was a TAD surprised at Blackadder being #1. Pleased though, especially as I was expecting it to be the eternally overrated Friends.

not a bad list though the decision that simpsons, futurama, family guy. american dad aren't sitcoms is arguable.
slaps for omitting Married With Children, 3rd Rock From The Sun, Soap, and all 60's sitcoms (Dads Army is more 70's). I may have to a top 100 sitcom popchartfreak list to right so many wrongs! |

Some of those are debatable, should have kept it to British sitcoms, Are You Been Served?, Some Mothers Do Ave Em, Citizen Smith, On The Buses, Love Thy Neighbour and Bless This House should have been included

Great to see The IT Crowd and especially Father Ted so high! Sad that Mrs Brown's Boys is there though.

I'm shocked at no Monty Python, Benny Hill....unless I'm missing the boat on those 2 and they're not really comedies?

Green Wing is better than half of the things on the list.
The IT Crowd should have been Top 10. No Black Books! This post has been edited by AntoineTTe: Aug 28 2015, 07:38 AM |

I'm shocked at no Monty Python, Benny Hill....unless I'm missing the boat on those 2 and they're not really comedies? These aren't sitcoms though, they're sketch shows - it needs to be the same characters and the same setting in a different situation each episode. Quite a good list this. Friends far, far, far too high - but it was popular I suppose. I think it's generally accepted that Frasier was the best 90s US sitcom though. Dad's Army is far too low, so is Porridge. No place for Sykes? What's that all about? Good to see Man About the House in the top 50 - just! - I would have it in my top 5. George & Mildred and Robin's Nest missed out, but probably right as MATH is the original and best. Blackadder remains brilliant. I'm probably the only person who thinks the third series is best, most seem to go for II or goes forth. |

Friends and Fawlty Towers are my personal top two, so glad to see them so high! I was about to say The Catherine Tate Show is missing but then realised it said 'sitcoms' not 'comedies'.
