BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Buble or Elvis next week's No.1 album?

Posted by: Common Sense Oct 17 2016, 10:16 AM

Two albums released this Friday, 21st. Elvis's The Wonder Of You with the RPO is the follow-up to last year's million-selling No.1 album which was runner-up at Christmas behind Adele. Michael Buble releases Nobody But Me, his first album for three years.

Elvis is No.1 on Amazon's sales chart at this moment yet Buble is only No.10.

Michael Buble surely?

Michael Buble surely?

Should be interesting. Elvis went straight to No.1 last year but never underestimate Buble's popularity. Both I believe will be heavily TV advertised.

Can't they let the guy rest in peace?

Posted by: honeyG Oct 17 2016, 10:25 AM

Buble is getting his own TV special I believe to promote the album so that'll really help him.

I'd say Elvis would easily get it any other week but he's up against the boob who you can always bank on grabbing the top spot especially in this time of year. Unless it's a Adele/Coldplay situation in which case Buble would get it before the year is out. Presumably Michael is a big favourite for Christmas #1 album!

I assume you mean Elvis! Last year's album with the Royal Philharmonic was great and as I say, a huge hit worldwide and UK million-seller.

That's nearer Christmas on ITV I believe. Can see him on X Factor too.

I think Buble has been up for pre-order longer and was doing much better than Elvis on Amazon, although I see Elvis is now #1, with Buble still #6 and #10. Buble does have a BBC show, as Dan mentioned, which I presume will air on release week, so I think there's no doubt he'll be #1. I think Elvis' album could grow in sales like his album last year did, but the same will happen to Buble too I'm sure, so I'm unsure whether Elvis will make it to #1 in the coming weeks either.

I still wouldn't be surprised for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to appear on X Factor with the finalists coming together to butcher an Elvis classic though.

It reached top ten only in few markets (all UK influenced) and surprisingly Austria but it wasn't "huge"

The BBC1 Buble special isn't broadcast until November.

I really couldn't call it. I think they'll both have really big week 1s.

I went for Elvis simply because he's ahead on Amazon and iTunes. He can't do promo but is there any TV special for him this time round?

Priscilla was on Lorraine talking about the album and there's a tour towards Christmas.

Not heard anything about a TV special but I presume Priscilla will continue making appearances here and there.

She was also on with Graham Norton on Radio 2 on Saturday. There's also 6 live arena shows coming up across the UK with the RPO playing live and Elvis's vocals.

And what is Elvis?

Posted by: PeaceMob Oct 17 2016, 07:58 PM

I'd bet on Elvis to win the battle, his album with the RPO last year was huge so I'd imagine the demand for the follow-up will be big too.

Posted by: BigMixer Oct 17 2016, 08:13 PM

Gaga will easily debut in the top 3.

I'm pretty sure it will be Elvis too.

I went for Elvis and want it to be Elvis but have just bought 2 versions of Nobody but me - vinyl and deluxe CD. The Elvis one is only available on 1 format at the moment - CD - as the vinyl and deluxe box set (with vinyl, CD, booklet and poster) are both being held back to 2nd December.

Wonder if the 4 who vote neither think Ga Ga will do it or if KOL will hang on. Both are unlikely.
