Is selling very well so far. Shall be interesting to see how it keeps up with sales as WPSIATWIN wasn't really the best for seeing how it with-held with sales because there weren't any proper singles bar the first two released to promote the album.
They should become the 5th biggest selling album of the year so far, this week and then could possibly over take the Kaisers within the next few weeks!
I actually think there will be 3 chart-eligible singles relaesed from this album, which should help, then of course headlining Glastonbury won't exactly harm album sales. But the great thing about AM is you never can predict what they will do next. Turner has already got a few songs ready for recording, so who knows what will come of them?
Yeah they played Bigger Boys And Stolen Sweethearts at the last one I went to and my mate couldn't believe it as it was her favourite song by them I still can't believe that was only a b-side then again that shows how good they are
Those are amazing sales so far. They'll get to No.1 soon!
FA seems to be getting a lot of airplay already. It's got definite number 1 potential (just as long as they don't release it when 2 corporate divas decide to release a duet or summat).
the album s still number one in uk (3rd week)
allbum chart -3rd week : 39,488 (#1)
Unexpectedly surviving the release of new albums from Travis and the Manic Street Preachers to spend a third week at number one, the Arctic Monkeys second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare sold 39,488 copies last week, to take its 20 day tally to 349,078, writes Alan Jones.
Thats enough to move it up to fifth place in the year to date table, behind Amy Winehouses Back To Black (600,825), Take Thats Beautiful World (535,704), Life In Cartoon Motion by Mika (453,061) and Yours Truly, Angry Mob by The Kaiser Chiefs (388,877).
While thats an impressive achievement, its sales so far still trail the massive 363,735 first week tally of the Arctic Monkeys 2006 debut Whatever People Say I Am, Thats What Im Not, and the fact that neither Travis nor the Manic Street Preachers - both acts with multiple platinum million sellers to their credit - were able to sell even 40,000 copies of their new albums on their first week in the shops underlines the frailty of the current market.
For the second time in as many weeks, the Manic Street Preachers snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Last week, their single Your Love Alone Is Not Enough surrendered its midweek lead to finish at number two, and this week their new album Send Away The Tigers does likewise. It was number one on all of the midweek sales flashes but its final sales of 38,769 place it just behind Favourite Worst Nightmare. The Manics 10th chart entry, it at least made a much better start than their last album, 2004s Lifeblood, which debuted and peaked at number 13 on first week sales of 23,990, and has still sold fewer than 80,000 copies.

It got #1, but only just! I think it'll sell alright again this week, but I dunno whether it'll still be #1. Competition from Amerie and Linkin Park as well as maybe one of the other albums possibly climbing!
It's funny though, how the total cume of Favourite Worst Nightmare hasn't yet beat the first week sales of WPSIATWIN!
Is midweeked at #4 this week...
Updated the first post Pleased with the sales so far even if it hasn't outsold WPSIATWIN's first week sales still
Top 50 Singles of 2007
#30 (33) Arctic Monkeys Brianstorm 75655 copies
wk 4 UK album chart
1. (-) Minutes to Midnight Linkin Park
2. (-) Release the Stars Rufus Wainwright
3. (-) Tales Don't Tell Themselves Funeral For a Friend
4. (1) Favourite Worst Nightmare Arctic Monkeys
On the artist album chart, The Arctic Monkeys three-week reign with Favourite Worst Nightmare comes to an end, with a 39.3% slip in its sales, to 23,950, forcing it to dip to number four behind a trio of new entries but third placed Funeral For A Friend and runner-up Rufus Wainwright are simply bit part players to Linkin Park, whose Minutes To Midnight registers their best ever weekly sales tally of 94,501. Its the first hard rock album to top the chart since last July, when both Lostprophets and Muse reached number one. Muse opened with an even higher first week sale of 115,144.
Sold okay again this week. The album's holding up quite well. I reckon it'll do another 15-19k again this week, and might even possibly climb. I just hope the album can still be in the Top15 by the time FA's airplay/tv exposure begins to happen.
Muse and Lostprophets are 'hard rock'?
Well they're hardly 'hard rock' but they're 'heavier' than the likes of Razorlight and Arctics which is what they're trying to get at.
Anyway Arctics have better sales than the mids were saying they would and Linkin Park must have sold over half their copies on Monday
Updated.
There's about a 30k gap until the Kaisers, but they've got a 2nd single out at the moment. So hopefully the Arctics should over take them in due course.
I'm amazed at some people commenting on how 'poorly' this album has sold (not in this thread, but on Haven's chart thread in particular). Seems like there are a few people who are almost praying for them to crash and burn, which is a bit sad IMHO. This was never going to sell as many as the debut in the first few weeks but to be number 5 in the YTD album sales chart after 4 weeks would be classed as an amazing achievement for any other band, let alone an Indie one.
^thats what i m sayin.
AM are not oasis n they dont want to become a band like oasis (btw,i love oasis).
they are doing their own thing n so far everything is great (except not releasing Mardly Bum...)
I'm thinking the Monkeys sold about 16k this week looking at the Music Weekly report.
Updated.
Hopefully it will clear 400k this week!

Glasto + FA release = big sales boost.
I think the album's sales so far are bloody amazing! Everyone saying its a flop compared to the first, it was never ever going to sell aswell as the first, its what happens with all acts, and thats the sales off one single, wait till FA is out the albums gonna shoot back up in the the upcoming weeks

Yep it's beginning to steadily catch up ground with the Kaiser Chiefs album now which is good, I reckon it could over take it within the next couple of weeks!
I hope FA can make the album come back to the top3! That would be the least for such an amazing song!
These are the sale figures for last week:

I'd hazard a guess that the album sold about 14k this week, give or take a little as sales seem to pretty tight once you're out of the Top10. Hopefully though the album will go Top10 next week again.

I reckon the album sold about 15k this week, which means it should have over taken the Kaiser Chiefs in total sales so far!
Favourite Worst Nightmare climbs 13-11 on sales of 14,380, taking its 12 week tally to 489,281, while moving 5-4 on the year-to-date chart

Hopefully shall be taking over Mika in due course possibly.
definitely another 15.000 for that week.the album s already back in the top 10 (mids)
The album's back in the Top10 this week!
That should mean roughly about 15k I think, give or take a couple of thousand.

yeah we ll have to wait n see even if i dont expect bigger sales than their weekly usual...its funny that Glastonbury n T in The Park gigs didnt increase their album sales...not even the release of their catchiest tune FA...from the other hand more than500.000 sales for a few weeks remains a great achievement
They're #14 again in this weeks chart!
I reckon the album sold there, or thereabouts of 11k this week.

The album should pass 535k this week with a little bit of luck!
I reckon the album did about 7k this week. There or thereabouts anyway.
Its going steadily!
I really cant see Old Yellow Bricks doing much for the Album though
Well yeah exactly. It hasnt been confirmed, so there is still always doubt.
But i think the obvious choices are 505 and Teddy Picker. I remember 505 being played quite a bit by Radio stations, just as the album was released, and it seemed to get a great response.
Old Yellow Bricks is one of my faves, but if they want Album sales, 505 or Teddy Picker are the better choices.
But i dunno, Maybe Old Yellow Bricks has like a personal thing to the band or something hence why they might want to release it.
wooo go amy!!!!
I don't think they've got another million seller on their hands but if they pick the right 3rd single, or indeed if they just get to a 3rd single they can make it to about 800,000 which isn't that far off the first album sales I don't think
So this album will have done well considering alot of the hype the first one got

30 A Weekend in the City - Bloc Party 215,000
Should hopefully pass 540k in the next couple of weeks.
Doing well! I just hope they eventually beat Take That, who honestly buys that $h!te :|
Hopefully they overtake Mika too, but i dont see it
I doubt they'll over take either Take That or Mika, both will sell a million (again in Take That's case) this year I reckon. Mika will release a 4th single around Xmas time so he'll get bumper sales and Take That have their huge tour at the end of the year and that's likely to help them sell a lot more records.
The album will have sold about 7k this week I think.
I think the sales for this album are going really well, I'm glad because it's a good album.

Seems the album only sold 4k last week! Hopefully Old Yellow Bricks should begin to start being added to radio stations within the next week or two!
Only 4k, eek thats bad
Seems album sales are quite awful at the moment too. It will hopefully sell 750-800k.
I dont see 3x Platinum happening though
The album's back up one place to #36 this week!
I'd say the album sold there or thereabouts 5k this week which is an improvement upon last week.
Hopefully sales should begin to rise now within the next few weeks!
we could expect even bigger sales...anyway...maybe the 2nd album sales syndrome...frand ferdinand had the almost the same problem with their second album.great reviews but not over 1m like their first lp.
bloc party , keane , especially kaiser chiefs , libertines , kasabian , almost every uk band , didnt do better than arctics in album sales with their second lp...maybe razorlight only but that was definitely a sell out or just a matter of luck("america" anyone?)...
only a very strong single can bring back the album high oin the charts and as i v said i can see only "teddy bear" to make it...
Most bands get hit by the 2nd album syndrome after having a huge first album and like you say Space, the only band that really hasn't been affected by it is Razorlight, who have had a huge selling 2nd album. Bands like Hard-Fi and Editors don't have as much pressure on them with their 2nd albums because when thry were first released they never really set the charts on fire but over the next few months after their albums were released they gradually got bigger sales and more exposure.
But Arctic Monkeys still have a lot left in them this era I reckon, if they win the Mercury award tonight they'll have a rise in album sales and with the right promo and a good video Old Yellow Bricks should do reasonably well too.
big sales or not ...its the album of the year n thats the most important thing !

Only 6%. :\ That's pretty awful considering the increase that all the others have.
However, saying that it's the 2nd highest selling album on the list and they've not really been in the public eye of much lately and they didn't perform either, but hey, 6% is better than nothing right?
The album's down to #39 this week, but it's had a sales increase this week I do believe so all is good.
What is pleasing though is Klaxons album [who's had all this hype with the Mercurys] is below Arctic Monkeys album this week!
39 36 20 Arctic Monkeys Favourite Worst Nightmare...20 wks
it s gonna be back in the top 20 (at least) with their 3rd single ...that s happenin to kaiser chiefs now
The album's at #54 this week.
They really need to start promo on the next single or the album is gonna completely fall out of the Top75!
agree...

Sold about 4k since the last update. They REALLY need to get the 3rd single promo sorted out now or else the album is gonna completely disappear out of the Top 75.
Their sales aren't even that bad, only 2 singles and sales have been really low for about 6 months
They really need a third single to get those christmas sales in though, but it could easily do another couple of hundred thousand if they pick the right song and if it's released at the right time
Yeah, for their label it's very good
Hard-Fi for instance have been doing promo non-stop for the past month and their album is down to no.20 after just 3 weeks when it's easily one of the best of the year, I don't get that one
The album has risen one place to #58 this week!
Hopefully it won't fall out of the Top75 afterall before all the promo and stuff happens for Teddy Picker.
good news then...
You look at terrable albums by the likes of Mika and Amy Winehouse (Sorry but it is SO overated) which stays in the top 20 every week and then great albums like the Arctics which can only stay round the 50 mark... I dont know whats wrong with people...
566,687
They are the exact sales to date. Very good sales in my opinion which can hopefully be improved upon over the next couple of months before they end this era and start on the new album.
An album like that doesnt deserve to be just double platinum

for an indie act like them these sales are great.
#65 this week.
I HOPE this doesn't fall out of the Top75 before Teddy Picker's promo stars, but I think it might now!
I reckon it will drop next week..
However.. I think it will rise (Top 20) when Teddy Picker promo comes out
I reckon the album sold about 3k this week.

Out of the Top75 this week!
Hopefully it'll rise back in the Top75, with the promo with "Teddy Picker".
yer 2x platinum is still a great achievement!!!
It should probably do at least 700K this year and it'll probably get close to a million by next year's Brits which isn't bad at all
it definitely deserves to make a mil but i think it will sell about 800-850k overall when the era's over...

The album is at #98 this week for anyone that's interested.
i cant understand this...its like the last year...
awards , best of the year lists , new 3rd single , december gigs n the album is ...#98...promotional problem maybe or what?
...when in the top 75 are many mediocre indie albums...
yeah but they could almost double these sales...anyway...i think that FWN sold 1,5 m worldwide...!
75 N 30 Arctic Monkeys Favourite Worst Nightmare
The Album sales are there or about 630,000 sales now!
Album is up to #59 this week!
the only way is
I think the album has sold just over 3k this week.
Album is #50 this week!
Album is #61 this week.
No idea how much it has sold though...
I think the album has sold about 3k this week. Well there or thereabouts anyway.
#70 in this weeks album charts.
Let's hope it rises significantly this week because of the BRITs. And even moreso if they win an award...or 2.
still no news about sales...
Album is up to #40 this week!
Will be interesting to see what the sales roughly are tomorrow!
As a rough guess I think the album sold about 6k this week...
Album is down 5 to #49 this week!
Does anyone ever think they don't sell as much as they really should do? I know I'm always 'sales don't matter' but I really think that considering the amount of c**p that has sold over a million FWN deserves to be there too!
^agree...
It'd be nice to see it sell more, but I don't really think it matters at the end of the day. They've plenty of good fans and their gigs always sell out, and they've no chance of getting dropped in the near future! Would have been nice to see this album sell over a million, but ah well.
Well yeah that's what I mean it'd just be nice that's all! But that's the thing about them I really like, they're people who you can say they're 100% in it for the MUSIC and that's what it should be all about!
No idea at all how much the album sold this week. I'd put my best estimation at about 6k-7k.

This is just for 2007. I imagine FWN's total sales will be close/surpassed 650k now. Also it's good to see how much WPSIATWIN has sold in 2007!
Album is down 1 to #50 this week!
I reckon the album sold about 4k this week!
Would be interesting to see an updated version of their sales from 07 and 08 added together...
Rooney! Thanks for the visit ... even if it was a brief one! As I know that you Arctics have a fab sense of humour - what do you think of this little story! Totally true of course!

Norma
Album is #60 this week.
i think that the release of TLSP ,with all the buzz around Alex, will help the album to stay in the top75 a few more weeks
Yeah I think it will stay in the Top75 for a while too. I really wanna see an updated sales total for FWN too.
