Sam Taylor-Johnson Departs Fifty Shades Darker
QUOTE
Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson has announced that she is not returning to direct the sequel, Fifty Shades Darker.
Screenwriter Kelly Marcel will also not be involved with the project, which is currently planned for a 2016 release. Stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are on board to return.
"While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three," Taylor-Johnson said in a statement.
"Directing Fifty Shades of Grey has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful. I have Universal to thank for that. I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially, with Dakota and Jamie."
Reports have suggested that author EL James wants greater creative control over the movie series, causing Taylor-Johnson to eventually decide to leave. The two allegedly clashed during production of the original film.
Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal in talks for Nocturnal Animals
QUOTE
Jake Gyllenhaal has reportedly been lined up for a lead role in thriller Nocturnal Animals, while Amy Adams is said to be in talks for a part.
The Tom Ford film will be the director's first since his 2009 debut A Single Man.
Joaquin Phoenix and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are also being sought for roles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Nocturnal Animals will be based on Tony and Susan, a book written by Austin Wright and published in 1993. It follows a woman who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband of 20 years.
George Clooney is producing with his Smokehouse Pictures partner Grant Heslov, while Ford has written the script. No studio is currently attached to the project.

New Smurfs movie delayed till 2017
QUOTE
Sony's upcoming animated Smurfs movie has been delayed until 2017.

Originally scheduled for August 5, 2016, the reboot will now launch in cinemas on March 31, 2017.

Sony Pictures executive Rory Bruer said: "With a fully animated feature close in tone and design to Peyo's original creation, we're embracing everything that has made The Smurfs so special for audiences worldwide.

"The date is a perfect match for this movie. With the kids on break, every day plays like summer, and for franchises with global appeal like The Smurfs, audiences are ready to turn out for great entertainment."

Director Kelly Asbury explained on the Smurfs production blog that their aim is to deliver the "best movie possible without compromising".

"Since this new film has no connection to the previous live-action hybrids, we have a whole new world to create, and it is critical for me and my crew that we deliver a movie that will enchant families and fans worldwide for years to come," he said.

"When my partners and I here at Sony Pictures Animation realised that rushing towards a summer 2016 release date meant having to launch production on a story that was not fully in the place we wanted it to be yet, we decided to give ourselves a little more time to not compromise quality and deliver the truly smurftastic movie we all want to see on the big screen."

Mandy Patinkin is voicing Papa Smurf in the reboot, which will set out to tell the origin story of the blue creatures.
Jason Segal to direct Lego Spinoff
QUOTE
Jason Segel has signed up to direct a spinoff of The Lego Movie.
The actor will co-write and co-direct The Billion Brick Race with Iron Man 3's Drew Pearce, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Lego Movie trio Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Dan Lin and Roy Lee will produce The Billion Brick Race, which joins three other Lego-based films currently in development.

Ninjago is scheduled for release in 2016, with The Lego Batman Movie set to follow in 2017. The Lego Movie 2 is currently tipped for a 2018 release.

The Billion Brick Race is in the early stages of development and is based on an original idea that Pearce brought to the table.

Alessandra Ambrosio has joined the cast of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. The Victoria's Secret model will play herself in Paramount's sequel, reports The Hollywood Reporter. She will play the girlfriend of Will Arnett's character, cameraman Vernon Fenwick. The film marks Ambrosio's first big-screen speaking role in a movie, having previously cameoed in Casino Royal. Ambrosio has also appeared in episodes of Entourage and Gossip Girl.
Screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec have returned to write the script for the second film, with Megan Fox thought to be reprising her role as April O'Neil.
An unconfirmed title for the sequel has been revealed as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half Shell. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is due for release in June 2016.

Audra McDonald is in line to join the cast of Disney's live-action remake of Beauty & The Beast. The Tony Award-winning actress will join Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. Disney Developing live action Pinocchio
QUOTE
Disney is turning its attention to Pinocchio as its next live-action adaptation.
According to Deadline, Peter Hedges is writing up a movie loosely based on the original Pinocchio tale.
The story focuses on the relationship between a father and a son, exploring the consequences of lying and making things up.
Fast & Furious 8 'in limbo' as cast, director options expire
QUOTE
The Fast & Furious series is reportedly in a state of uncertainty, with no director or writer appointed for the upcoming eighth film in the saga. There are also doubts over casting, with many key players not yet signed up for future films.
Fast & Furious 7 director James Wan, although originally signing up to direct two films, recently left the series to work on The Conjuring 2, and Fast and Furious alum Justin Lin is also unavailable due to Star Trek 3 commitments.
Addressing the absence of solid plans, producer Neal Moritz told The Hollywood Reporter: "Honestly, we're just bathing in the success of [Furious 7]… We'll probably get together in a week or so to talk.
"[The story] is going to have to be something enticing for all of us," he added. "It has to be as good as or better [than Fast & Furious 7]."
In terms of the cast, the long-term contracts for many stalwarts of the series are said to have run out, meaning fresh negotations will be required, while Dwayne Johnson signs on a film-by-film basis.
Newcomer Luke Evans, who appears in Furious 7 in a non-speaking role, has the option to appear in another film with Universal, though it doesn't necessarily have to be the next instalment in the Fast & Furious series.

Production is expected to begin later this year, with an ensemble cast featuring prominent Chinese stars, if an agreement is reached with DreamWorks.
It is currently unclear if leading actor Aaron Paul will be back for Need for Speed 2.

Alice Eve and Naomie Harris recreate scenes from classic movies for new Meerkat Movies
QUOTE
Naomie Harris and Alice Eve have recreated a variety of iconic movie scenes to promote Meerkat Movies.
The pair - who are close friends - have recreated famous film relationships in the pictures, which have been released today to mark the launch of Compare the Market's new 2-for-1 cinema tickets offer.
Recreating '90s romantic comedy Clueless, Harris is seen as Dionne, while Eve is transformed into Cher, the lead role played by Alicia Silverstone.
Harris and Eve also channelled the darker relationship from Natalie Portman's Oscar-winning film Black Swan, as well as transforming themselves into Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon's title characters from Thelma & Louise.

Compare the Market's Meerkat Movies takes the place of Orange Wednesdays and offers existing customers 2-for-1 cinema tickets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Under the scheme, customers can redeem the offer for a full year when they buy a qualifying product with comparethemarket.com. Tickets are redeemable through a code on the Meerkat Movies app, which is available to Apple and Android users.

Hope anybody can post in here, but 'Incredibles 2' has OFFICIALLY gone ahead!

QUOTE
Brad Bird has finally turned his attention from tomorrow to the incredible. The director is finishing up Tomorrowland, the film he chose to do over Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and has started to look towards his next project. Thankfully for him, his next project was kind of revealed over a year ago. That’s when Disney CEO Bob Iger told investors Pixar was beginning work on The Incredibles 2 and, now that Bird is free again, it seems he’s begun work on it.

Bird was speaking to NPR (via The Playlist) when he was asked about The Incredibles 2. He said it was “”percolating,” then saying:

I’m just staring to write it, so we’ll see what happens.

That seems like a big leap from the done deal Bob Iger made it sound like back in 2014. Knowing the Pixar writing process though, if Bird is “just starting” to write it it means one of two things. Either it means Bird helped create a rough idea of the film a while ago and since then team has been working that – designing, hammering out a story – all with minimal input from Bird. And he’s just coming on board now. Or, it means there’s a totally blank slate and Bird is starting the process right now.

Knowing Pixar, I tend to think that first scenario is the case. Odds are when Iger made the announcement, Bird and the team had already quietly been working on the project as to warrant the official news. Bird then continued to finish Tomorrowland while others slowly moved forward and now that that’s over, he’s moving over to The Incredibles 2 full time. Still, even in that best case scenario, we won’t see The Incredibles 2 until 2018 at the earliest. But I’d say it’s probably going to be later.

Also still up in the air is whether or not Bird directs this film. He’s done two live action films in a row and if he chose to direct again, odds are he’d be tied up for the rest of the decade. Do you think he’ll play the producer and writer role then let someone else finish the job?

The first Incredibles followed a family of superheroes who have to bond together to beat a new villain. It won the Oscar for Best Animated Film and is considered by fans to be one of Pixar’s best. A sequel has been on wish lists for a long time.

Are you excited to hear Brad Bird is working on The Incredibles 2?
Exciting. I hope it's better than the first (which I personally find overrated! - very good, but nowhere near as good as everyone else seems to think.) But animation and Superhero films have come a LONG way since the first was released so I am excited and if any of the original Pixar films deserved/warranted a sequel, it was definitely this.

Marisa Tomei for Aunt May in new Spider Man?
QUOTE
50-year-old Marisa Tomei is on the verge of becoming the youngest Aunt May ever in Marvel's upcoming Spider-Man reboot. The Academy Award winner has received an official offer to join Tom Holland in Marvel and Sony's collaborative film, reports Variety. It is not yet known if the Empire star has accepted the role of Aunt May, and neither studio is commenting. Aunt May has traditionally been played by much older actresses in Spider-Man's previous adventures, with Rosemary Harris inhabiting the role at 75 and Sally Field at 66. This new Spider-Man movie is expected to feature villains not seen in previous films, and will not be an origin story for the webslinger. The untitled reboot will also be shifting focus back to Peter Parker's high school years.

Ghostbusters Villian Announced
QUOTE
Paul Feig is turning to another veteran of Saturday Night Live to play the villain in his Ghostbusters reboot. The filmmaker has already turned to SNL stars Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and frequent guest host Melissa McCarthy to make up his all-female troupe of Ghostbusters. Deadline is reporting that former SNL writer Neil Casey will play the ladies' spooky nemesis in next summer's comedy blockbuster. Aside from writing on Inside Amy Schumer and the final season of Kroll Show, Casey is currently starring in Yahoo sitcom Other Space. Casey is also a veteran of the Upright Citizens Brigade theatre, a starting ground for top comics Amy Poehler, Matt Walsh, Jason Mantzoukas and Jessica St Clair. Ghostbusters has brought several new cast members on board this week, as production with the four leads and Chris Hemsworth continues in Boston. Andy García has signed up to play the New York City mayor, while Michael K Williams, SNL's Cecily Strong and the aforementioned Walsh will appear as well. Sony Pictures will debut Ghostbusters on July 15, 2016 in the UK and July 22, 2016 in the US.

Netflix Exclusive New Movie Premieres
QUOTE
You'll be able to watch new movies from Idris Elba and Adam Sandler before the end of the year on Netflix. The streaming giant announced today (July 7) that it will begin rolling out original films beginning with Elba's Beasts of No Nation on October 16. Beasts of No Nation - which is directed by True Detective's Cary Fukunaga – tells the story of child soldiers and their charismatic-yet-brutal leader at war in a West African nation. Coming up on December 11 will be The Ridiculous Six, the first of Netflix's multi-picture deal with comedy legend Sandler. Ridiculous Six stars Sandler, Taylor Lautner, Steve Buscemi, Terry Crews and Will Forte in a Western adventure-comedy about an outlaw who was raised by Native Americans. The movie has attracted considerable controversy for what some have deemed to be a disrespectful depiction of Native Americans. Netflix has also offered updates on its other upcoming features, including the highly-anticipated Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II: The Green Legend. The sequel will have simultaneous IMAX theatrical release in China as it debuts on Netflix in the first quarter of 2016. Pee-wee Herman fans can look forward to seeing his film comeback Pee-wee's Big Holiday next March. Other major projects on the way from Netflix include Bill Murray: A Very Murray Christmas in December and Chelsea Handler's new series in 2016.

With one month to go, the film has already sold a massive $50 million in advance sales and doesn't look like it's slowing down.

The film broke pre-sale records by selling $6.5 million in just the first day of sale on October 19 and also broke the IMAX sales record.

If they're going for the reboot Lara AKA the inexperienced version, then she'd be perfect. But I agree she's not a good fit for the "classic" badass Lara.
