Sorry if this has been done before, Rob always says I need to start new threads here, so here’s one that may catch on.
I want each person to nominate a one hit wonder that they enjoyed from the 21st century, and by “one hit wonder” that means only one hit single that charted inside the UK Top 40 Singles Chart and no other hits since. You can only nominate one song and then someone else has to have a turn to nominate before you can post another. Go! ========================================= I decided I will create a running list of songs submitted in this thread and keep this updated here; ALMA – Chasing Highs {#18, 2017} (nominated by awardinary) Backyard Dog – Baddest Ruffest {#15, 2001} (nominated by Hadji) Charlie Brown – On My Way {#7, 2013} (nominated by awardinary) Daisy Dares You feat. Chipmunk – Number One Enemy {#13, 2010} (nominated by UltraCruelSummer) Daniel Powter – Bad Day {#2, 2005} (nominated by awardinary) DB Boulevard – Point Of View {#3, 2002} (nominated by lewistgreen) Divine Inspiration – The Way (Put Your Hand In My Hand) {#5, 2003} (nominated by Hadji) Elle King – Ex’s & Oh’s {#15, 2016} (nominated by Roba) Gotye feat. Kimbra – Somebody That I Used To Know {#1, 2012} (nominated by Yobnedor) Hardwell feat. Matthew Kama – Dare You {#18, 2014} (nominated by Cow P) Hellogoodbye – Here In Your Arms {#4, 2007} (nominated by Roba) Iglu & Hartly – In This City {#5, 2009} (nominated by Tafty³³³) Karmin – Brokenhearted {#6, 2012} (nominated by jmontague30) Lazyboy – Underwear Goes Inside The Pants {#30, 2006} (nominated by Doctor Blind) Little Jackie – The World Should Revolve Around Me {#14, 2008} (nominated by Tafty³³³) Maria Lawson – Sleepwalking {#20, 2006} (nominated by Tafty³³³) Mclean – My Name {#10, 2010} (nominated by gooddelta) Milky – Just The Way You Are {#8, 2002} (nominated by jmontague30) Newton Faulkner – Dream Catch Me {#7, 2007} (nominated by jmontague30) Reflekt feat. Deline Bass – Need To Feel Loved {#14, 2005} (nominated by Hadji) Sam Sparro – Black & Gold {#2, 2008} (nominated by awardinary) Special D – Come With Me {#6, 2004} (nominated by Hadji) Ten Walls – Walking With Elephants {#6, 2014} (nominated by jmontague30) The Big Pink – Dominos {#27, 2009} (nominated by King Rollo) The Bravery – An Honest Mistake {#7, 2005} (nominated by Jade) The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition {#6, 2009} (nominated by Roba) Vanessa Amorosi – Absolutely Everybody {#7, 2000} (nominated by gooddelta) Verbalicious – Don't Play Nice {#11, 2005} (nominated by awardinary) |

Little Jackie - The World Should Revolve Around Me
Was so surprised this only peaked at #14 and was just a fleeting top 40 hit it’s an absolute banger and such a joyous, Summery song! |

Daniel Powter – Bad Day
A huge #2 hit in 2005 and then a flop single that meant he was never heard of again. |

Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know has to be one of the biggest?
Prefer this slightly beefier radio edit! Edit: Roba cracking the whip I see |

Daniel Powter – Bad Day A huge #2 hit in 2005 and then a flop single that meant he was never heard of again. Was the follow up called Free Loop? I think I liked that one more. It became partially chart ineligible because the B-Side ended up being Bad Day. I think. |

If it's a collaboration, then should all acts also have a one-hit wonder status?

Hardwell (feat.
It peaked at #18 in January 2014, but only spent 3 weeks at top 100. Hadn't discovered Official Charts back then, so I didn't even know how it was even possible debuting that high. Matthew Koma is clearly not a 1hw because he had the Cannonball and Wasted. |

I was today years old when I found out that Daniel Powter only had one top 40 hit! I could have SWORN 'Free Loop' got to like #18 or something and had a swift exit!!
Hellogoodbye What an almighty BANGER! One of the most underrated songs of all time <3 Daisy Dares You came to my mind too, Sam! What a bop! That Gotye song still remains HIDEOUS. I cannot fathom for the life of me, HOW on EARTH it's as popular as it was/is! Vile. Another one from myself: Iglu & Hartly - In This City One of those songs that just immediately reminds me of Summer & Sunshine! |

Maria Lawson - Sleepwalking
She was in the same series of X Factor as Shayne, so I'm not sure she'd have won (even though I preferred her slightly!) but she was the OG "shock early exit" of that show! She came into the charts with this track in 2006. A peak of #20 and 3 weeks top 75. It's really stunning and is such an underrated GEM! It's actually aged WONDERFULLY! |
