22nd July 2018

It's back up to 1 for a 3rd week on top for Hey Look Ma, giving Panic! At The Disco 7 of the last 8 weeks dominating my chart. Blonde get the highest new entry, and a second top 10 four years since the first one. Bryn Christopher gets a 3rd, a decade since his first 2, that's patient! In at 10, it's 8 years since Sheryl Crow last troubled my top 10, love the guitar work on the new track. Her previous top 10 was in 1997, though she's had loads of chart entries in between and since and before, dating back to 1994 and her first debut hit and top 10 All I Wanna Do.

It at 15 with a new sound, much poppier than recent darker efforts, it's Muse, back in the top 20 for the first time since 2012, and for the 10th time in total since debuting in 2000. Hard to believe it's 18 years! Miles Kane is back with a very Glam Rock track. I mean, it totally references Ballroom Blitz, and sounds like a Barry Blue hook, and it would have sold well in 1973 as boys n girls loved that sound then. Prob not so much these days, but hey, great to have a new Glam Rock record for us oldies!

Big climbs for Freya Ridings, RAYE, Claptone, Blue October, Moodoid. Imagine Dragons join themselves in the chart, that run of singles is getting quite long! Jake Shears enters without his Scissor Sisters, not his first solo billing, but his first solo track some 14 years since his first Pink Floyd-cover chart-topping song in the band.

Hi John!

Hoverphonic Top 5 cheer.gif Can't believe it was just outside the Top 5 on BJSC though, I thought it would be lucky to be outside the bottom 10 ohmy.gif

Great to see the new Blonde enter - a real summer-y dance track, really hope it can do something officially!

Giving Cry on a Guitar a listen now, that sound takes me back to a time when I wasn't alive kink.gif Great song!

I think I heard Creep City when going through someone else's chart, it basically just sounds like a Scissor Sisters song laugh.gif Not heard much from him/them in a while anyway!

Great chart biggrin.gif

Hello John!
Nice to see "Me, Myself & I" debut in the top 10!
And I like the big gains for "Friends" and "Summertime Magic", with "Summertime Magic" being the better of the two!
Other debuts that I've enjoyed are "Something Human" and "Natural".
I've heard "Something Human" at a italian radio station, before listening to it in my free time and it's a good song!
"Natural" was another great song from the Imagine Dragons, hopefully they make their new album a better one than "Evolve".
Great chart as always!

Hey james! cool.gif Yes that Hooverphonic track is proper lush!

One of Moby's best I think, he's only ever had 3 tracks peak higher in my charts ohmy.gif

Jade's best entry this year I think, though I loved last year's King Plague track to bits, but yes among her best entries smile.gif

Thanks for the list & comments James!

Hi Pete, Hooverphonic is yet another quality entry from you - Niceland quite rocketing up my all-time Nations chart lately! cheer.gif

I wanted to enter Blonde into BJSC but the moment has now passed - it's in the BJ Chart laugh.gif

Glam Rock memories for you must be like me having nostalgia for 50's music cos of films like Back To The Future and TV like Happy Days laugh.gif

Jake Shears' track is very Scissor Sisters, quirky, though not commercial in any way - I think it would have struggled even back in 2005!

cheers!

Hi Sergej!

Thanks for the comments, and I love hearing little stories about where people hear music, it makes it personal - like hearing Muse on an Italian radio station. My first hearing of it was boring ol' itunes laugh.gif
