Some great names, I'm SO excited for Franecesca and Annalisa plus Maneskin and Arisa should be great too! Mahmood has written Francesca's song too!!
Noemi's is also a Mahmood cowrite I believe as well?
It's taking place in March about a month later than usual and the organisers have basically said that it's happening with a full in person audience no matter what happens so this should be a fun hot mess as always!
This is tonight, usually I dip in and out but I'm on an open at work, as always this will be a drawn out self-indulgent mess that you have to stan for its audacity to last so long
It'll be interesting to hear the songs as you can't really look at big names and predict they'll do well, they often can bomb! bookies have Francesca and Fedez but I will NOT get my hopes up as Sanremo always lets me down, but I usually end up raging my fave didn't win (see Il mondo prima di te and Andromeda) but then loving the winner anyway, Fai rumore actually went on to contend for my 2020 winner! Colapesce and DiMartino are favourites too but I have absolutely no idea who they are.
Fedez's autotune is SENDING me, really like the song but that's offputting.
It's looking like history will repeat itself and Annalisa will lose to Ermal Meta again like 2018 I did like Non mi avete fatto niente in the end but this song is way more boring.
To that I say - "no "
Final tonight, gonna try and stay up for it but with how long it is I'm not sure as I'm knackered
As we saw with Mahmood, odds can mean absolutely nothing in Sanremo but it looks like Ermal's to lose with Annalisa also strong and Willie Peyote has really shot up to be a contender too. I'll be happy with Annalisa, Maneskin or Francesca/Fedez, I think either of the former two would be my #1 at this stage.
When is this over? It's been going on for ages and I don't speak Italian.
I don't expect it before 1am It's a huge Italian institution so is so much more than a Eurovision selection but when you're a Eurovision fan (or that and a fan of Italian music like me) following it does get frustrating!!
Iirc last time it was about 1am, then the year before about 12:30 so maybe that if we're lucky!!
I'm thinking Colapesce & DiMartino will take it if not Ermal but I'm loving Maneskin more and more with more listens, still here for queen Annalisa to finally her win though D:
Thanks Liam. Me and my mates are watching and we don't know what's going. 😁
There's 8 songs to go omg and then also the superfinal, I think I saw the schedule says it'll be done 1am our time but I'm gonna guess 2 maybe even 3 at this rate
EDIT: it's also been confirmed that anyone who wins has said they will go to Eurovision so there's either no stress waiting for that confirmation, or no hope that who you want could come 2nd or 3rd and still go to Eurovision
Maneskin, Fedez/Francesca and Ermal in the superfinal, I think Ermal will have it but with how popular Fedez/Francesca seems to be (#1 on Spotify and iTunes) plus how great Maneskin were, I feel like it could be either!! Ermal is the most traditionally Sanremo, but that didn't stop Mahmood so fingers crossed for Maneskin or Francesca *.*
MANESKIN WON YAAASSSS!!!
This feels HUGE for a song like this to win Sanremo omg, don't expect it to be a fave on here though
Yaknow what, I am INTO this! Really like their whole genderfluid aesthetic as well.
I actually think this will do very well, I could see it top 10 tbh on the strength of their performance, their aesthetic standing out, and it being a good song that's very different to what else we will get. Ofc we have Dark Side but that's a different facet of rock.
This will obviously be a moment on stage and it sounds so relistenable, what a swerve from Italy.
So, this is the Italian Arctic Monkeys. Not visually but the intro and the way he sings reminds me of them.
I have Maneskin charted on my chart previously and I really like their style. I haven't listened to all Sanremo songs yet but I'm happy Maneskin gets to represent Italy just like Mahmood!
This is so good to be on Page 2. Top 5 definitely. .
Still my #1 favourite this year.
Put 20 quid on them to win!
I'd have put 1,000 pounds.
Performance wise, they are absolutely on another level to anything else this year.
Umm this is kind a jury friendly song too I think?
Yeah, if only on what sounds like a polished performance and it being the sort of rock that tends to get much better reviews from critics than its direct competition Finland (who have been doing better on that front than I'd expect).
Juries propped up Georgia 2016, they're not necessarily anti-rock.
This was recommended to me so I decided to check it out and I'm stanning both the song and the aesthetic *.*
#12 on Spotify UK today!
AMAZING, so happy for them! Been a fan for a while and it's so great to see them not just win Eurovision but have their music appreciated properly.
I am laminating my stan card as we speak
Thrilled about the Spotify placement
This has grown on me a lot, the performance completely sold it. Their EP is really strong, shades of Arctic Monkeys in places, but slightly harder than that, with echoes of Rage Against The Machine.
Hopefully Zitti e buoni goes properly viral on TikTok to give it some staying power beyond one day on Spotify, it's completely relevant and fresh and deserves to be a proper hit and not just a one week peak at No.44 or whatever.
Their other work is so strong, I'm obsessed with them right now. <3
Very pleased to see 'Zitti E Buoni' riding high on Spotify at least for the moment.
Yeah I can’t remember the last time I instantly fell so hard for an artist I’ve made my way through everything now and agree with the Rage Against The Machine and Arctic Monkeys comparisons, also Royal Blood!
Even their X Factor Italia performances from 2017 are an exciting watch would also recommend their collab with Francesca Michielin <3
Rooting so hard for ‘Zitti E Buoni’ to make the official top 40 🙏
They were ROBBED so hard in X Factor, the way they were like 16-17 at the time!!
OCC just revealed this is at #37 in today's chart update, would be amazing if this holds on!
Not only has ZITTI E BUONI increased (!) its streams today on Spotify, ‘I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE’ is sitting at #91 too *.* it’s fantastic to see them being appreciated so much!
Coraline is the one.
Not been listening to much else this week LOL so here's a rough top 10, subject to change:
01. ZITTI E BUONI
02. I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE
03. STATO DI NATURA w/ Francesca Michielin
04. VENT'ANNI
05. FOR YOUR LOVE
06. Torna a casa
07. Morirò da re
08. CORALINE
09. New Song
10. LIVIDI SUI GOMITI
Fave X Factor cover - 'Kiss This' originally by The Struts x
'ZITTI E BUONI' only fell 2 spots on U.K. Spotify today to #15 and 'I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE' is up to #52 - they're killing it <3 so hyped to hear the former on the chart show now that's pretty much locked in *.*
They're blowing up so fast, I watched this performance at the start of the week at 600k views and now it has 2.6 million !
Their energy is everything
Their singles from each album have pretty much all been the lighter songs... so hopefully that can change!
They’ve now risen to #25 in the mids this feels so surreal *.*
‘I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE’ is currently top 30 on Spotify when factoring in ACR and 3 track rule, plus top 40 on iTunes and rising on Apple, I wonder how that will also end up doing 🤔
the duet with Francesca Michelin was not what I was expecting, she usually is very vanilla, only does ballads, well, thats what I thought
Really happy to see it have chart success, if the momentum continues I wonder could they manage top 20?
Amazing to see I Wanna Be Your Slave doing well too Stato di natura is defintely my fave aside from Zitti e buoni but yes at that whole top 10 tbh Jade *.*
oh I do remember Vulcano now that its mentioned, great song
I met Francesca once and she's the nicest most down to earth ever
Tbh when they release new music, I think they deserve a thread outside the Eurovision sub-forum
Well while they're still within our domain - please enjoy this genius mash up between Zitti e Buoni and Monster by Nicki Minaj.
Zitti e buoni debuts at 14 here in Ireland which is really good and I wanna be your slave is new at 51 for them,
+ now #17 in the U.K. hearing it on the radio was incredible!
Yesss it felt so surreal, #17 is an incredible result for them!
They have done really well, 2 top 100 singles and a top 75 album, it just shows Eurovision still has plenty of steam in its engine.
They’re dropping merch and the promo video seems to have an unreleased song in it:
'I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE' is #29 in the mids (on top of 'ZITTI E BUONI' at #24) - coming for that second U.K. top 40 single!
I hope they get a 2nd top 40 and hold on, their album is also at 58. When was the last eurovision winner to get 2 top 40 hits?
ZITTI E BUONI climbs 2 places to number 12 here in Ireland this week and I wanna be your slave also climbs 35 places to number 16, they also have a new entry at number 96 with CORALINE, while in the album chart TEATRO D'IRA - VOL I is number 29.
That’s great to hear! We had a Måneskin back-to-back today in the U.K. chart with ZITTI E BUONI #25 and I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE #24 - their success has been astounding! Here’s to ‘Slave’ going top 20 next week.
Their latest album has climbed to #49 also
(Also there was a discussion about Eurovision winners who have two+ top 40 hits in the latest Friday Chart Predictions thread, as I asked the same question, last one was Katrina and the Waves in 1997 but even then the other hits were pre-Eurovision!)
They shared a short cover of 'Midnight Sky' on instagram and Miley reposted it
They really are riding the Crest of a wave right now.
Yes I agree, if they can carve out further uk success it will help to draw more performers into entering for the uk.
At first I hated it now I can’t stop stanning it
Lee changing his mind about the song once he sees that enough people like it?!
'IN NOME DEL PADRE' has really clicked with me this morning - probably their heaviest song so took a bit of getting used to but I basically stan the whole album now *.*
The Eurovision performance sold Zitti E Buoni to me - the charisma and star quality was off the scale.
But I found I Wanna Be Your Slave incredibly instant from the first listen of the studio version and I can see why it’s looking to become a decent sized hit. It’s just so immediate and in your face, in a good way.
I am enjoying how they have embraced Eurovision and are also so thankful for the win, Zitti E Buoni has grown on me, i preferred other songs during Eurovision but this has grown on me alot and i really like I Wanna Be Your Slave and i agree its alot more instant than zitti.
Interesting, for me it was actually the opposite! I first heard the studio version of ‘ZITTI E BUONI’ a few days before the final and fell in love straight away (with the charismatic performance then adding to the charm, of course) - I think I fell head first for their Italian stuff and it took me a few listens to feel the magic from the English material too. But the wiwibloggs performance helped SLAVE click for me and now I’m obsessed with both
SLAVE has now matched the U.K. Spotify peak of ZITTI at #12 - smash!
Coraline is really growing on the last few days.
I Wanna Be Your Slave. Oh my. Another absolute smash
Good to see all the love on here 'CORALINE' was a big grower for me too once I understood the lyrics <3 I'm so pleased that 'I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE' has taken off in the way that it has. It was up to #20 in the mids yesterday so looks like a second top 20 for them is already in the bag. Single status and a music video hopefully beckons.
This is my new favourite cover of theirs:
Wowww 🔥🔥 although the camera person needs to chill in places
Hopefully down the road they can get to the UK and promote when they release another single and build on their success so far. There is potential for them to really build their UK success as at the moment everything has come purely from Eurovision. Their success as we have said can show the UK for example that Eurovision can really open doors to success and its not a naff competition like many perceive.
I Wanna Be Your Slave is such a bop, what other songs would you recommend listening to from them?
Zitti was a bit of a slow burner for me after not really getting it at first but I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE I'm becoming slightly obsessed with. One of the best hits this year by far and would be amazing to see it climb into the top 10 next week.
Official German Charts:
#7 I wanna be your Slave
# 16 Beggin' (NE)
# 23 Zitti
Never happened before with any Eurovision act in GER... (except Lena...)
Loved them on Eurovision. The lead singer has such a stage presence. Definitely has the X factor.
Have seen them performing The Killers' Somebody Told Me, which is an amazing song anyway.
Becoming obssessed with I Wanna Be Your Slave.
so why has i wanna be your slave blown up more than this?
Could get a new peak again this week.
I can’t remember the last time following Eurovision that an artist has managed to get a top 10 entry with another single! Incredible from them.
Its really exciting watching them do so well, i think its also brilliant for Eurovision and hopefully we can see more of this going forward.
The Common Linnets got to #9 in 2014 but I think they will outdo that - so maybe coming for the highest Eurovision-adjacent chart placement since Loreen in 2012?
(well, minus Flo Rida I suppose but yeah since the artist was actually in the competition)
Common Linnets did well but it was a one off success, i always like to see Eurovision songs getting some success so hats off to them, Maneskin having a top 20 Eurovision winner though and hopefully a follow up top 10 is great to see, i remember been delighted Emelie de Forest having 2 top 75s which i thought was brilliant so Maneskin really going to a whole new level plus a top 40 album to go with it.
Yeah their buzz right now is insane! Even their cover of 'Beggin' is up 15 places on U.K. Spotify today to #24 pesky ACR with it being from 2017
European promo trail begins:
I've been forced at gunpoint by Jade to checked out some more of their discography now and, on top of 'I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE' obviously being another tune, I'm also particularly loving 'CORALINE' <3 (which I believe has been their fourth most popular song worldwide following the Eurovision boost so nice to see it also getting some attention). 'Morirò Da Re', 'FOR YOUR LOVE' and 'VENT'ANNI' are also highlights!
German Official Midweeks
# 1 GOOD 4 U
# 2 WELLERMAN
# 3 I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE
# 4 BEGGIN'
Amazing!
I’ve seen a lot of Måneskin on German tiktok. Berlin is one of the cities that Apple Music released a top 25 for and Beggin is at 2 And Slave at 4.
Italy was only 4th on the German televote but they’re the one that seems to have had a follow on bump from ESC and I’m here for it big time.
Unrelated but still can’t believe how long Wellerman has been at the top end of our charts. It’s insane. They’ve adopted it as some form of quasi Schlager, like an Atemlos for the tiktok generation it’s wild.
Oh and I’m really here for „Fear for Nobody“ along with Slave at the moment
