IMO they should - that way they cannot shelter themselves from any negative consequences of the decisions they make.
This applies particularly to local councillors, since MP's at least have the excuse that they have to have (second) homes in proximity to London to do their job.
Yes I definitely think they should. It's ridiculous to be a politician representing an area but not live there yourself. Especially due to what you said: then they cannot make decisions that affect (?) the area but don't have to deal with the consequences themselves.
After winning the title, mostly politicians move to big cities to live. It would be better if they live their own city which they belong.
