BuzzJack Music Forum _ Dua Lipa _ What’s next for Dua?

With Swan Song on its what out, what do you think and hope is next for our Dua?

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Mar 6 2019, 07:14 AM

Lead single for DL2 in about August I'm hoping!

I don't think she should have released 'Swan Song' if I'm being honest.

I wouldn't release any more guest features either, she needs a couple of months away and return late August / September.

Stay quiet for the rest of the year and come back in January 2020 with a huge lead single.

I think lead in August / second single just before album release in October/November smile.gif

Would Dua fare well with a Q4 release though?

Similarly to Joe, I think she should release the lead in August with the 2nd single released a week or two before the album in October. She doesn’t want to leave it too long, but then she can’t release it too early either.

Swan Song was completely unnecessary, it was never going to be a big hit.

That would be an awful thing to do.

I agree with most of the posts here. She should follow the standard Taylor Swift schedule and release at the end of August (enough distance between Swan Song and a lead) with an album in October.

Why? Maybe if she had really strong material she could release before the Grammy deadline but she doesn't want to rush only to underwhelm.

I agree she shouldn't have bothered with Swan Song. Hopefully she will keep quiet from now until say August with the album to follow in October!

Although I was expecting the lead single to be released in Q2, I agree with most of you that the best is that she releases it in Q3 instead with the album to be out in Q4. Personally, I think the first single could to be out around late July or early August if she releases the second single three months later (late October or early November) and the album to be released in mid/late November.

I love how everyone is talking about how Swan Song as if she's gone back to where she was when Be The One got a cult following for her next era. Odds are this won't be on the album, let alone part of the campaign. And if it is, it's probably gonna be a Target Exclusive bonus track.

I can see a late August/early September release for the lead and gearing up for a mid-November album release. I think she has great enough name power to pull off a Q4 album strategy. Plus by then the lead will be big enough that there's less damage from the holiday freeze and it will set her up for a January Week 2 post-album single. She'll be fine.

Take a hol, sip some champers, do a few ads then drop the first song of the next album finally finally.

Didn’t DL1 get decent sales during the Q4 after it was released, was top 10 sometimes.

Completely agree with this. And October works pretty well, Jess Glynne's last album came out in October & did very well so I can see Dua doing similar/bigger than that if she releases in October

She’s gonna have some quiet time now I guess. RIP this forum until her return.

I would agree that she could do with keeping a low-ish profile over the next few months, allow people to miss her and then theoretically come back with a bang. I hope Swan Song didn't do her too much of a disservice!

I can't see SS harming her too much! It was only a soundtrack single and tbh, I feel fatigue woulda set in on the public more had it been a bigger hit (like Love Me Like You Do or whatever)
