I freaked out when I saw this on Instagram. HYPE!

Posted by: mdh 6th September 2016, 03:44 PM

Since This Is What You Came For and Hype were announced in the week of release - I'd (like to) think this is out on friday. We'll know more soon.

Posted by: djgrafdemon 6th September 2016, 04:00 PM

YAS YAS YAAASSS so excited
must be an astonishing collab
p.s. already in love with this artwork

If it's Justin Bieber I swear

SHIT. I'd be so down for a Zara x Calvin collab.

Realistically he's only gonna collab with big current artists so that leaves us with who? Maybe Zara.

Posted by: Liаm 6th September 2016, 04:17 PM

Zara I'd be fine with but knowing him it'll be like Justin Bieber or someone horrendous like Sam Smith laugh.gif

Posted by: Ðøßßø 6th September 2016, 05:00 PM

Well I would be hyped but both This Is What You Came For & Hype were pretty crap...

Can only hope this will be back to his best.

Posted by: danG 6th September 2016, 05:21 PM

I'm half expecting someone like Ellie Goulding or John Newman to be honest, I doubt Calvin is going to have Justin Bieber feature on his single when the Beebz already has two big hits impacting at the moment.

Why? It's good to see some music that might actually go Top 10 intasntly get released.Freshen things up!

As for collabs, I'd rather it's a track with his own vocals to be honest!

Yeah I'd be happy with that! Still think Summer is one of his best tracks actually.

Posted by: Inna Selez 6th September 2016, 06:31 PM

Is it collab with Shakira? The name of the song Feel the night. Or it is the old one?

Posted by: jark 6th September 2016, 07:44 PM

Please let it be Ellie.

Posted by: Red. 6th September 2016, 08:31 PM

I think it's Ellie Goulding. Calvin was talking about doing a song with Ellie when he was on R1 the day TIWYCF premiered.

Posted by: Ðøßßø 6th September 2016, 08:36 PM

But then surely she wouldn't want this getting in the way of Still Falling For You?

I'd be happy with it personally though, I Need Your Love I got a bit bored of through overplay but Outside is sublime wub.gif

Posted by: danG 6th September 2016, 08:41 PM

Still Falling For You is only a soundtrack single and it's underperforming - a Calvin collab now would be a great way for her to get her name back out there.

I'd rather it be her than John Newman.

I lol'd at that remark! laugh.gif I hope not too.

My choice of featured artist;

Calvin Harris feat. Craig David

Whether it's now, or later, I can definitely see those two British artists working together on something.

This is a rumour I've seen on Twitter in the last couple of days, but it screams fake to me. Even, there's an allegedly tracklisting from Calvin's upcoming fifth album. That said, as far as I know, Shakira has worked with David Guetta instead and I think there was a confusion with him and Calvin.

Regarding this track, it could be either Ellie or John (or, actually, both of them). However, I hope there's not any feature this time and Calvin does the vocals as he used to do.

Still Falling For You is doing fine at the moment! tongue.gif I would love a Calvin/Ellie collab though, he's at his best when he's with Ellie. Something more interesting than his current single please.

I wouldn't mind Shakira!!! She kinda needs it too smile.gif

Posted by: Hayzayy 7th September 2016, 09:22 AM

I'd love it to be Cheryl, insiders say she's featuring on a track this end of year, it would be great news if its on Calvin's kink.gif

Or Dua Lipa would be amazing on a Calvin track cheer.gif

Him and Ellie together is just perfection - INYL took a while to grow on me but Outside is just incredible. Ellie did say in an interview a while back she'd done something with him I'm sure!

Posted by: *.* 8th September 2016, 03:45 PM

Any news on who it's with?

But I kinda don't as I really want Gaga to succeed, too!!

Posted by: cqmerqn 8th September 2016, 05:59 PM

Calvin did mention that he had a song with Ellie Goulding but was just waiting for her to come into the studio and sing her bit.. This was a few months back. Also, it was mentioned that the Calvin X Ellie collab would also include a male singer.

I'm thinking Calvin Harris (ft. Ellie Goulding & John Newman)

EDIT: Ellie has also said in several interviews that she has 2 collaborations coming this year. biggrin.gif

Posted by: *.* 8th September 2016, 06:30 PM

I'm dying to know if it's out tomorrow - new Calvin, Gaga, and a Bastille album is literally the stuff of dreams.

Posted by: Ryan. 8th September 2016, 07:00 PM

It's obviously not going to be as she isn't "cool" enough for Calvin I would expect, but reasons some people think it is Demi is that the birds on the single cover are very similar to one of Demi's tattoos, Demi tweeted Calvin lyrics the day before this artwork was posted and, if Calvin wanted to be political, Demi was team Calvin following the Taylor split.

As we know Demi would be amazing on an EDM number as Neon Lights proved, but it is of course way too good to be true.

Posted by: danG 8th September 2016, 07:01 PM

oh please PLEASE not Demi. let's hope it's Ellie Goulding.

Posted by: Ryan. 8th September 2016, 07:04 PM

As much as I love Ellie, I'm not sure I need a third Calvin and Ellie collab. I'd like him to go with someone different for a change!

Posted by: burbe 8th September 2016, 08:38 PM

Adele please.

I hope this is released tomorrow - I'm in need of some new Calvin music. It feels like TIWYCF has been around for ages now!

This is a https://twitter.com/CalvinHDaily/status/774094232709500928 which Calvin posted on Snapchat the other day and it's allegedly from his upcoming single. That said, he has posted the same teaser twice over the last few days there, so I'm wondering if the track is indeed coming out this Friday.

Posted by: *.* 12th September 2016, 06:38 AM

Just saying, but that snippet sounds very John Newman.

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🕊 12th September 2016, 05:35 PM

It comes out this week and it's called "My Way". There isn't any featured artist in the artwork, so looks like he's doing the vocals.

Looking forward to this! I do much prefer tracks like 'Feel So Close' or Acceptable In The 80's' to his tracks with featured artists.

Posted by: cqmerqn 12th September 2016, 09:11 PM

It has a feature, he's holding a competition for us to guess the feature.

Posted by: Froot. 12th September 2016, 09:14 PM

He's apparently 'retiring' the album format. Very annoying if that's the case, it just means less music from him! Although, if his future music will be the same standard as 'This Is What You Came For', maybe it's not such a bad thing.

He's been very successful with his albums so I'm not entirely sure why he would give them up.

Posted by: danG 12th September 2016, 09:15 PM

oh.

maybe he could do a duet with the featured artist though? that'd be a first i believe.

They're my two favourite Calvin singles, but that's purely down to the production itself rather than it being his vocal.

Posted by: cqmerqn 12th September 2016, 09:23 PM

Yeah, he said in a radio interview that he will no longer create albums because some of the album tracks don't get the success they deserve. (In other words they flop, *cough* Pray To God)..

Anyway, apparently it's Ariana. I'll cry if this is true.

Side to Side and this? She'll be a FORCE in q4 to say the least.

Posted by: cqmerqn 12th September 2016, 09:41 PM

I have seriously had enough of Ariana - praying that she's not on the track but it looks likely sad.gif

Posted by: danG 12th September 2016, 09:43 PM

so he'll just be releasing singles now? that's really disappointing.

Posted by: Cremey 12th September 2016, 09:47 PM

I don't think it'll make that much difference in all honesty! He's much more of a singles act and it's not as if he has drastic reinventions between each release or anything, haha. As long as he keeps on delivering the goods, I'm more than happy to just be getting singles.

Posted by: danG 12th September 2016, 09:51 PM

it means we get less songs from him though. Motion had 16 songs on it. How many years will it take him to release 16 singles at his current rate?

for me Calvin is totally a singles artist, not an album artist, when you put an album out, the album has to tell a story, it's not a collection of hits like Now 85, and thats what Calvin does, especially with 18 Months, which probably had more top 2 hits than some of the Now series smile.gif

No. You're not the only one. Since he revealed the artwork, I have been thinking that there's not any feature. I just heard it on Spotify, there is not a featured artist on it! What a publicity stunt he pulled on twitter! rolleyes.gif

The song itself it actually very mediocre and lacks any real quality at all compared to what we're used to from him. Such a disappointment as like most of us I was hyped for this release, but it's a shame that all we get to hear lyrically is the repeated line "You were the one thing in my way" over and over. sad.gif

Posted by: cqmerqn 16th September 2016, 05:17 AM

It sounds like a dodgy track they'd play at a kids disco at Pontins..

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 16th September 2016, 06:31 AM

I actually think this is better than any of the stuff he has done in the last few years...

Posted by: Joe. 16th September 2016, 06:38 AM

I actually really like this. It doesn't sound like a hit to me but it sounds unique and personal and a big step up from TIWYCF.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 16th September 2016, 06:42 AM

Hate hate this, don't think I'll ever return to it.

Posted by: mr_pmt 16th September 2016, 06:50 AM

So he was totally trolling us with that feature thing?

I'm not sure what to make of it, it's a bit boring and sounds like a tropical bandwagon jump.

Posted by: mdh 16th September 2016, 06:55 AM

It's okay. I'm not too sure whether I like it that much, though, it's kind of trying really hard to be tropical house but failing at it. Still sounds like it could be at least a minor hit.

Posted by: Liаm 16th September 2016, 06:55 AM

This is SO dull. It has nothing to it other than being a bandwagon tropical house song, his vocals sound like he is as bored as I am listening to it laugh.gif

Posted by: Bjork 16th September 2016, 06:58 AM

what a disappointment,
the contest, the no feature, the tease,
and then the let down of the song itself, repetitive, goes nowhere, silly lyrics trying to cash in on the TS situation, very childish overall :/

Posted by: danG 16th September 2016, 08:22 AM

LOVE THIS

it doesn't quite have the same impact as TIWYCF but it's brilliant nonetheless. great to hear Calvin's voice on a song again too. doesn't sound like a big bandwagon jump at all to me too it's very Calvin sounding unsure.gif

Posted by: Froot. 16th September 2016, 08:30 AM

This is just as dull as 'This Is What You Came For'. It's alright as background music but I don't know how it can excite you to listen to it out of choice.

Posted by: gooddelta 16th September 2016, 09:00 AM

This track is essentially album filler, though obviously won't get the chance to fill an album if he's not making them anymore. I guess he can't expect every single he puts out to be a million selling smash though, I'd be incredibly surprised if this ends up being half as big as This Is What You Came For.

I mean it's fine but the drop sounds like it's been produced by a resident Butlins DJ whose just got his hands on 'my first tropical house' software or something, one of the cheesiest dance songs I've heard this year.

Posted by: jakewild 16th September 2016, 09:03 AM

what gooddelta said

i actually rly like his voice so glad it wasn't a feat. but it's definitely album fodder

Posted by: Davidson 16th September 2016, 09:40 AM

I actually like the melody and the vibe overall, it's just the breakdown just sounds a bit amateur.

I'm sure it will be a massive hit though.

Posted by: HarryEzra 16th September 2016, 09:50 AM

This is alright on first listen wanted a bit more sad.gif out of the 3 singles of his How Deep Is Your Love >> TIWYCF >>>> My Way allready

Posted by: Jaÿ 16th September 2016, 09:59 AM

This is a big let down, and I'm usually here for a Calvin-vocal track. sad.gif As it stands I'd say this is my least favourite single by him (not counting songs he features on) since Merrymaking at My Place!

I'm not usually someone who tends to moan about a song being repetitive, many of my favourite songs are, but this song takes things a bit too far even by my standards...! http://www.directlyrics.com/calvin-harris-my-way-lyrics.html

This Is What You Came For is the same! http://www.directlyrics.com/calvin-harris-this-is-what-you-came-for-lyrics.html

Not that his songs were all lyrically amazing before but I'm not exactly sure what's happened with him. Taylor Swift must have sucked all the creative juices out of him and poisoned his career like she's done with her previous exes.

Posted by: Jonjo 16th September 2016, 10:46 AM

Yeah this is just filler at best. I dunno if it's because I listened to Emeli's track first, but it really paled in comparison. The shade towards TIWYCF never ceases to amaze me. It's GLORIOUS and you guys shall just have to deal tbh... cry.gif

Posted by: danG 16th September 2016, 10:47 AM

Calvin Harris' songs have always been very repetitive lyrically, well yes there have been a few which follow pop song verse-chorus structures (I Need Your Love, How Deep Is Your Love) but he hasn't just suddenly got lazy with songwriting.

Posted by: Inna Selez 16th September 2016, 04:27 PM

Troll, he hyped so hard track and turned off comments on tube.

Posted by: Wizard's Sleeve 16th September 2016, 04:45 PM

Even worse than that Ri Ri collabo.

Who'da thought a song even MORE repetitive than Lady GaGa's would be released a couple days later!

Posted by: Joe. 16th September 2016, 04:46 PM

Definately don't agree that it's as bad as TIWWCF! I really like this. His voice sounds good on it.

Posted by: Jaÿ 16th September 2016, 05:00 PM

I'll come out and declare myself as being firmly on Team Jonjo cool2.gif! 'This Is What You Came For' is infinitely better than this. Never understood the collective meh response that song received on this forum (although having said that, it spent 4 weeks at #1 in the personal chart forum's multi-chart, so it must have a lot of fans here. I guess its detractors were just a bit louder).

Posted by: Chez Wombat 16th September 2016, 05:07 PM

Well, I'm glad it's not a feature. His vocals are sublime on their own and I'm not here for another recycled guest appearance...

That said, this definitely needed a stronger drop, it sounds like something that would be good in his earlier eras, but from where he is now, it feels amateur. It's a nice listen, it just doesn't go much beyond that.

Basically, give me another Summer with a huge drop, Calvin, not this new subtle stuff (unashamed).

Posted by: HarryEzra 16th September 2016, 05:20 PM

#TeamJonjo too tbh This Is What You Came For is a proper great danxe tune dont get the hate for it sad.gif

!!!!!

I agree with Dan however, a lot of the songs he sings on are as repetitive as this, so I'm not surprised that he's gone for the three-peat. It's more or less on par with TIWYCF - I can see this having a high burn rate but it's not that bad. I want more euphoric singles like "Outside" and "How Deep Is Your Love" though. I'll give it a few more listens and see if this has grown more.

fantastic stuff wub.gif dance.gif wub.gif

Posted by: Ðøßßø 16th September 2016, 07:47 PM

Well I went it with low expectations & even they weren't met, sounding pretty dire on first listen really. What a terrible year he's having...

He'll never produce a masterpiece like How Deep Is Your Love ever again I suspect...

Having said that, I feel this *might* have more a chance of me changing my mind about it eventually than TIWYCF.

Posted by: slowdown73 16th September 2016, 10:57 PM

Disappointed with this. Weakest single for quite some time and sounds like a rehash of his earlier stuff.

i can at least low key jam to this

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 17th September 2016, 05:42 AM

Banal.

Posted by: *Ben* 17th September 2016, 05:56 PM

On the one side it's nice to not have a featured artist on this one and he's singing again, on the other side this is one of his worse singles to date.
It might grow on me later (I don't know yet, haven't heard it enough), but for now I'm not really interested in this song. sad.gif

To be honest her last era was so bad imo that I wasn't really expecting anything fantastic from her laugh.gif

Posted by: mdh 17th September 2016, 06:39 PM

This is such an earworm - good to see it doing very well indeed on iTunes and Spotify, looks like it's shaping up to be a respectable hit for him dance.gif

Posted by: burbe 17th September 2016, 07:03 PM

Quite disappointed by this sad.gif Maybe it will grow over time but I was looking forward to having any vocal track from him!

Posted by: jakewild 18th September 2016, 10:17 AM

this has already grown a LOT on me
rly do love the tone of his voice and wish he'd use it more

Posted by: Spandora's Boxx 18th September 2016, 10:19 AM

Yeah the vocals are rather dull, the production is ok and might grow on me but it's pretty weak for his standards. I miss the 18 Months era sad.gif

Posted by: Cremey 18th September 2016, 11:53 AM

I love this. Really is Calvin at his most basic and on autopilot but it's great nonetheless.
Have always loved his voice.

Posted by: cqmerqn 18th September 2016, 06:27 PM

This is so damn repetitive.

My favourite of his Outside, not because Ellie is on it but because the production is just fantastic. I'd love to hear that side of Calvin again.

Posted by: Rooney 18th September 2016, 07:16 PM

I agree with a lot of what's been said, it's ok and enjoyable, but it really is an album track. That said it's Calvin Harris, he can release anything and it will go Top 10. By releasing a tropical house song after the summer, it's actually probably going to work in his favour.

Posted by: Joe. 19th September 2016, 09:20 AM

I know I'm still in the minority but I really enjoy this. I don't find his vocal dull at all. Something I like about his vocal in this which I heard in 'I'm Not Alone' and 'Feels so Close', is that I get a sense of vulnerability in his voice.

This'll be 5 years old on Thursday! It's one I've never really returned to but I do enjoy it when I hear it, especially as it has Calvin on vocals. This is the last track of his just to feature him isn't it?

Posted by: Frenchie 20th September 2021, 09:15 AM

I actually really love this track and don’t really see why it gets so much hate!
