7. Marry The Night 8.8636 At #7 is the final single from BTW, Marry The Night. This is an absolute stand out track on BTW (for me at least! ), and it is coupled with an absolutely beautiful autobiographical video! Marry The Night was written by both Gaga and Garibay, and drew inspiration from Dance In The Dark (which is still to come!!!). now i'm off to watch that video again... |

Absolutely INCREDIBLE song and a real highlight in her discography. Should've been the second single off the album and it was criminal they left it so late in the campaign Everything about it is perfect.
I can remember hearing the instrumental before I heard the full song and before the album got released. If you haven't heard it before, please listen because it gives so many FEELS. Goosebumps every single time especially the first 20 seconds or so: It goes brilliantly here in this mash-up with So Happy I Could Die: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHdCqfaFjS4 THIS SONG IS EVERYTHING (and should've been top 5 ) |

I say second because even though it's not her best 'Born This Way' sort of had to be the first single with the message and all. But then this and TEOG (which I agree are two of her BEST) should've been singles 2 & 3. Would've been HUGE for her.

It's alright, would've preferred Alejandro and Paparazzi above it tho

MTN is very good but overrated. I think #7 is too high for it personally. Top 20 is about fair with her discography. Gutted about 'Paparazzi' not finishing top 5, still though

You can't stop my voice 'cause you don't own my life 06. Do What U Want 8.9394 Narrowly missing the top 5 it's the second single from ARTPOP, Do What U Want featuring R Kelly (yes really). The song was a marked departure from 'Applause' and in fact any single she's released as she went more urban and stomping with the production and vocals. The song went on to become a hit but it wasn't without its controversy. Firstly in terms of the lyrics of the song which take on multiple meanings including Gaga's treatment by the media, but one is that of sexual submission. The biggest controversy came in the music video that never was though, which *apparently* took this theme to the next level and in its most literal way, showed Gaga's body being "used" against her will. A move that I think would've totally killed her career so in ways I am glad it never surfaced. I still think it might come out eventually and leak but until that day, we're left with a blinding, explosive, energetic, fist-pumping ANTHEM of a song and rightfully the highest single from ARTPOP. It does mean that album is now out of the running... |

The lyrics are a bit suspect, but I remember Gaga explaining the meaning behind the song being about the industry and how they can use her all they like, but they'll never have her heart or soul. Either way, I, too am glad the video never appeared as it would have no doubt tainted how much I enjoy the song. I also like the xtine version more (which is played more commonly in London clubs now), as it sounds like less of a rape anthem, which was its main criticism.

just a bit overrated here, but a fun song nonetheless.
As for the versions, I prefer the one with R Kelly. |

Fantastic song, I do feel they really screwed up with its potential to be bigger though.

Christina version much better tbh. Gypsy shoulda been first single, followed by this as the second, Artpop the third and Applause the last one. |
