Closing this tomorrow morning with results starting tomorrow evening before the first semi final, so get those late rates in!
And to remind, no -1 scores are being counted (those submitted will be changed to 0 x) |

21st // Average Score 3.39 Estonia 2001 Everybody Tanel Padar, Dave Benton & 2XL Highest Score: 10 (gooddelta) Lowest Score: 1 (cantthinkofaname, Jerick, nickthenoodle, Theonix, alby) Taking the wooden spoon is Estonia's only Eurovision winner to date. They were a real shock winner, coming out of nowhere to beat the favourites Denmark, Greece and France to become the first ex Soviet country to win the entire shebang. Dave Benton was also the first black person and the oldest contestant (at the time) to win the contest. Widely regarded as a naff winner from the dark era of early 00's televoting, fans of the duo were devastated to discover that there would not be a follow-up single, as Tanel and Dave fell out shortly after the contest, only reuniting in Tallinn a year later. For me, I don't mind this as a fun noughties Eurovision song but there were much better choices for a winner, Natasha St-Pier and Antique especially as two of the all time greatest Eurovision songs. I feel like this is the type of song that people who don't like Eurovision, think the contest is still full of. |

20th // Average Score 3.61 Latvia 2002 I Wanna Marie N Highest Score: 7 (Alex!) Lowest Score: 0 (Jerick, xajnipi) Just narrowly missing out on last place, despite receiving two nul points, it's Latvia's contribution to the winners lounge. 'I Wanna' was again one of those 'where did that come from?!?' winners, after everything was pointing at a Maltese victory in Tallinn. Latvia wasn't even supposed to take part in 2002, after being relegated due to a poor result the year before, however Portugal declined to enter the contest, so Latvia took their place and the rest is history. Again this was the second year in a row where the top 5 was flawless except for the winner! I guess this was the beginning of the gimmick era in Eurovision with her androgynous look and striptease stage show. |

The expected bottom two. Would have preferred Portugal to place below both of these but I'm not upset at this result. Expecting Azerbaijan '11, Russia '08 and Portugal '17 to fall next.

21st // Average Score 3.39 Estonia 2001 Everybody Tanel Padar, Dave Benton & 2XL I feel like this is the type of song that people who don't like Eurovision, think the contest is still full of. Not for me, this comment suits only people that ONLY like DIVA's music (like Loreen, Eleni Foureira, etc.). However, I would say the same sentence about Serbia's 2007. I still can't understand how that bland song with that uninspiring performance won. It was very Eurovision in a bad way imo. I saw there are lots of fans of that song here though. Portugal 2017 Amar Pelos Dois Salvador Sobral Highest Score: 11 (Jason) Lowest Score: 0 (cantthinkofaname, Alex!, Cqmerqn, Liam, JackJones, nickthenoodle, Theonix) Well that's a lot of zero scores but this is potentially the ultimate marmite winner. The perennial underdogs of Eurovision, Portugal entered the 2017 contest having never finished in the top 5. All that changed when Salvador smashed the points record, even outdoing Alexander Rybak on the old voting system, so I suppose that's something to be thankful for? Portugal really built on hype in Eurovision Week, leaving pre-contest favourite Italy in their dust. It was only the second time since the national language rule drop in 1999 that a song containing no English lyrics won. Do I still listen to this song? No, but I do respect it's place in the list of winners, more so than the previous two entries on this list. |

Thank god. 'Amar Pelos Dois' is in my opinion by far the worst winning song in ESC history and Salvador Sobral is the least deserving winner in the history of the contest. Sure he's come around a bit but to insult the very people who voted for you, the contest that got you recognition and your competition after winning is just so descriptive of him. Such a douche.

Knowing Buzzjack's taste I'm not surprised Amar pelos Dois is bottom 3. Thank God Europe has a different taste and this unique song won 2 years ago.

18th // Average Score 4.42 Russia 2008 Believe Dima Bilan Highest Score: 10 (Alex!) Lowest Score: 0 (JackJones) Eurovision 2008 was, in my humble yet superior opinion, one of the best Eurovision Song Contest's of all time. Secret Combination! Qele Qele! Euroband! Hold On Be Strong! Shady motherf***ing Lady! And of course not forgetting Supreme Dame Of Buzzjack Harlot Perrelli, Europe was not worthy! So for this to win was an anti-climax. Nevertheless, it led to Terry Wogan stepping down from the UK commentary job so it wasn't a total disaster. Dima had already come 3rd two years earlier in Athens with the far superior 'Never Let You Go' but the stars aligned in Belgrade for the first and perhaps long overdue Russian victory. The song was written and produced by American producer Jim Beanz, who had worked with Nelly Furtado, Shakira and Gwen Stefani to name drop but a few! |

See, it's hard to separate "Amar Pelos Dois" from Salvador's subsequent jazz bore attitude - it's actually a really nice evocative jazz ballad that I think deserved the win but I don't think Salvador really belongs in the winners pantheon

It's surprising for me that Salvador ended up lower than Dima, as the former actually has notable fans. I mean, the song itself is one of the dullest, most boring things imaginable, and I did want to like Portugal's eventual winner, I just can't, it leaves me completely cold, but in one way, at least it isn't generic rubbish like Believe.
and for the record, I care not one bit about his personality |

17th // Average Score 5.94 Azerbaijan 2011 Running Scared Ell & Nikki Highest Score: 9 (Alex!) Lowest Score: 1 (JackJones) Our average jumps quite significantly now for 'Running Scared'. Only 3 years after they joined the contest, Azerbaijan secured their first victory in Düsseldorf with one of the lowest scoring winners of all time. Just 221 points from a field of 43 countries showed that in a year where Europe couldn't agree, a song that safely scored 6s, 7s and 8s consistently was able to come through and snatch victory. The jury of course was very much on side of Italy, who were making their grand comeback to Eurovision after 14 years away. But a close televoting (Eric Saade lost out to Ell & Nikki by just 2 points) allowed Azerbaijan to take the gold. 2011 was on the whole a very weak year for me and I can't say 'Running Scared' is a classic winner. Azerbaijan were unstoppable at the turn of the decade, how legitimate that was remains to be seen of course, but to think this is their winning song when 'Drip Drop' and 'When The Music Dies' either side are SO much stronger. It wasn't Italy I suppose though so I can't complain too much. |

I actually liked Running Scared. It's not winner material by any means but I felt it deserved top 10, especially in such a mediocre year like 2011.
