I did actually think the BGT performance was excellent, but the studio version of it was spirit crushing and excruciating.
Annoys me no end that it by far outperformed Robyn's clearly superior original, but at least she will have got extra trickle sales as a result and royalties as the writer of the song. |

The original of DOMO is absolutely awful. Calum made it tolerable To me that's blasphemy. I'm not denouncing your opinion at all, but Robyn's original is such a seminal piece which conveys the emotion of heartbreak in a raw way... Calum's version strips it of its meaning. |

The original of DOMO is absolutely awful. Calum made it tolerable Exactly! I don't like her accent, the backing vocal or the rhythm. Callum's version is way more emotional. Compared to his version, that will obviously remain the remembered one, the original seems like a cheap dance remix. 90% of Buzzjack disagrees with me, and I've come to the conclusion that's the case cause they are mad that the original didn't receive the same reception cuz a lot of people are her fans. I mean I'm all for respecting other opinions but jesus CHRIST You probably know the original for a few years now and you got used it. Meanwhile, the 1st time I heard the song was when Callum performed it on BGT. Maybe that's why our views on this are so different. |

Video for this is out today hopefully will have some sort of effect.
I like it, its a good follow up and really quite catchy hope it is a slow burner like Dancing On My Own was |

I prefer Calum's version of Dancing On My Own to Robyn's original too. Never been a fan of Robyn, I find her voice bland yet annoying and there's a distinct lack of "the X Factor" for me and she's so overrated by online music forums. I like her version of Dancing On My Own (it's her most tolerable song) but Calum's beats it for me.

I'm sorry but I simply cannot at anyone thinking his version is better Each to their own and that but he sounds like he's having a stroke singing it and it sucks everything out of the original. I'm not even a huge huge fan of Robyn herself per se, she's good but I don't hate the song just because I'm bitter that it overtook her version. I hate it because it's an awful arrangement. He could've wrote his own bland singer-songwriter song :/

(Tinashe is just as bizarrely overrated by online music fans too while we're at it)

It's just a very non-descript and unaffecting cover really. I could tolerate it slightly more if he didn't sound like a distressed cow when singing the word 'town'.
Rhythm Inside is better, for sure, but it's nothing particularly riveting really. To me his whole persona and material comes across as boyband member gone solo album filler from 2006. This post has been edited by gooddelta: 19th January 2017, 03:33 PM |

That's kind of it in a nutshell, his version literally zaps all the meaning from the song. It's like he's not even connecting with the words he's singing.

Surprised they are still pushing this - They have released another stand alone remix version of it today (That's 3 separate remixes, acoustic version and the standard version now available) plus the video is out too.
Even being track of the day on R1 only resulted in it climbing to #99 on iTunes so can't see this being a hit even though it's a decent follow up to DOMO. |

I actually like his cover, the stripped-down version works... but still, cannot compare to the original, which Robyn did sing from the guts... it's a bit like comparing Alexandra's version of Hallelujah to the original, Alex has a great voice but she sang it like a shopping list, of course she was never gonna connect or sing from the guts a song about being horny and wanting to cheat... some songs just shouldnt be covered
