The Kid LAROI instantly gets his second-highest-charting song in NZ, only behind his former #1 'Stay'. Believe it or not 'Without You' only got to #8! Cat Burns gets a new peak while 'Bam Bam' matches its #21 peak, and further down, Willow gets her fourth chart entry and already her second-highest-peaking! 'Whip My Hair' only peaked at #35 and 'Transparentsoul' only #37.

On the album chart, Pusha T gets his highest charting album to date, his only other being the #12 Daytona from 2018, and Fontaines D.C. chart in New Zealand for the first time.

G'won Lizzo! This is automatically her second-highest charting song in NZ, just behind 'Truth Hurts' which peaked at #5. 'Good As Hell' got to #10 while 'Rumors' stalled at #23. Benson Boone also sees an immediate improvement on 'Ghost Town' which peaked at #39. Fellow American Idol contestant Lauren Spencer-Smith debuts as well, while Willow has the biggest climb of the week, up 10 places.

On the album chart, Future gets his first #1 and first top 5, in fact his only previous top 10 was What A Time To Be Alive, which was his collab effort with Drake and peaked at #8. He's had seven other albums as lead artist chart between #21 and #40 and they all only charted for a week. Even What A Time To Be Alive dropped out in week 2, so we'll see if Future can break that cycle this time.

Last week Jack Harlow had only four chart entries to date in NZ, now he's up to six and four of those are in the current top 40. 'Churchill Downs' beats the peak of 'Nail Tech' by just one place. Kendrick Lamar also gets his 8th top 15 hit, and he's likely to get some more next week. 'The Heart Part 5' matches the #15 peak of 'Loyalty' from his last album. Elsewhere, Future climbs in week 2, Latto returns to her #12 peak, Elley Duhe surpasses her #17 peak by one place, and Taylor Swift sneaks in at #40.

On the album chart, Jack Harlow massively improves on the #18 peak of That's What They All Say. Arcade Fire match their lowest-charting album to date, coincidentally Neon Bible also charted at #20 for them. Everything Now only peaked at #15, so not a massive regression, Reflektor and The Suburbs peaked at #5 and #3 respectively though.

Wow, Kendrick adds four top 10s to his name for a total of 10 in NZ to date - although just 7 as lead artist. He's had two #1s ('Humble' and 'Bad Blood') and 'All The Stars' peaked at #2. The top 10 is looking fresher than it's been in ages, especially the top 8 with no entries more than 8 weeks old. Post Malone is the only other new entry, 'Cooped Up' enters higher than Motley Crew's #28 peak, but lower than One Right Now's #19 peak.

On the album chart it's Kendrick's second #1, To Pimp A Butterfly was his first while Damn. only peaked at #2, presumably stuck behind Ed Sheeran. Florence matches the #2 peak of High As Hope, she's also had two #1s in Ceremonials and HBHBHB.

'As It Was' returns to #1 and Harry takes full advantage of the maximum 3 new entries per artist per week, as his three debut at #2, #3 and #4. Meaning they've instantly outpeaked 'Sign Of The Times', 'Lights Up' and 'Adore You'. None of this was enough to push 'Cold Heart' or 'Heat Waves' out of the top 10. laugh.gif Interesting that 'Matilda' did better than 'Music For A Sushi Restaurant', has that been seen anywhere else? 'Cooped Up' is the biggest climber this week, up 11, outpeaking 'One Right Now' and in fact his highest peak since 'Circles' went to #1!

On the album chart, it's a second consecutive #1 for Harry; his debut was stuck at #2 behind Divide. He had no competition this week, with the only other new entry being Flume. #18 is lower than Flume's last release, which peaked at #11 in 2019, and lower than Skin which got to #1 in 2016.

Let's talk about Kate Bush, as up until this week, 'Running Up That Hill' had only got as high as #26 in New Zealand. 'Wuthering Heights' was a 5-week #1, and her only other top 10 before now was 'Babooshka' (#8). Further down, Harry Styles is allowed two more debuts from his album, giving him not only 6 total but 6 of the overall top 10. The other two entries are collabs from Kanye/XXXTentacion and Calvin/Dua/Young Thug, we'll see if 'Potion' can challenge the #6 peak of 'One Kiss'.

On the album chart, Tate McRae is at #5, so far its highest appearance on any non-Canadian album chart. Liam Gallagher has his first top 10 as a solo artist, beating the peaks of As You Were (#13) and Why Me? Why Not (#34). Oasis had two #1 albums in NZ, What's The Story and Be Here Now.

New #1! 'Running Up That Hill' is the 6th song to be #1 this year (two fewer than at this point last year) and the second #1 for Kate Bush, a full 44 years after 'Wuthering Heights' did it. Despite Post Malone being the one with a new album, it's Harry Styles (again) and Doja Cat leading the way with two new entries each. Plus another 80s re-entry arrives in the form of 'Pass The Dutchie', that one already spent 3 weeks at #1 in December 1982.

On the album chart, Post Malone isn't strong enough to stop a third week at #1 for Harry Styles.

40 NE 01 Vance Joy - In Our Own Sweet Time

Wow, didn't realize Joji would debut as high as #2! ohmy.gif His only NZ chart appearance before now was a week at #32 for 'Sanctuary' in June 2019. Although he's also had three charting albums/EPs, including Nectar which also debuted and peaked at #2 in 2020. Further down, Doja Cat adds a top 10 to her tally, after 5 of her singles from Planet Her also made the top 10. 'Vegas' surpasses the #9 peak of Katy Perry's 'Waking Up In Vegas' to be the second-highest-charting song with 'Vegas' in the title, just one place behind INXS' 'Pretty Vegas' which peaked at #7. OneRepublic have their first chart appearance of any kind since 'Rescue Me' got to #22 in 2019, and their last single to chart as high as #13 was 'Something I Need', #4 peak in 2013! BTS have their first entry since 'My Universe' (#17 peak), and not counting Coldplay tracks, since 'Permission To Dance' (#8 peak). And Lady Gaga debuts quite a bit lower than OneRepublic, maybe we'll see OneRepublic overtake her in other countries in the coming weeks.

On the album chart, BTS achieve what Post Malone couldn't by dethroning Harry from #1, at least for a week. XXXTentacion adds a fourth top 10 album to his chart history, George Ezra misses the top 10 for the first time (Wanted On Voyage peaked at #4 and Staying At Tamara's at #7), and Vance Joy actually matches the #40 peak of 2014's Dream Your Life Away; his best is still Nation Of Two, #20 in 2018.

New #1! 'Glimpse Of Us' is the 7th song to be #1 this year (one fewer than at this point last year) and the first #1 for Joji. He and Kate Bush both fend off Drake, who has four new entries, only two of which make the top 10. Last time his four new entries charted at #2, #3, #4 and #7, so these are diminishing returns in comparison (he does get the #1 album though). The only other new entry is courtesy of Luude, off the back of former #1 'Down Under'. 'Big City Life' was a one-week #1 in New Zealand in November 2005!

Six60's debut album returns to the top 5 thanks to a 10th anniversary edition, and BTS drops only 3 to #4. This week's Australian #1 album from Jimmy Barnes re-enters at #32 in New Zealand, and Foals chart for the fifth time, this one matching the #35 peak of Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 1. Part 2 peaked at #39, and their highest charting effort to date is What Went Down, #5 in 2015.

Big City Life was lowkey one of my favourite song of 2005 and surprised to learn that it was bigger in NZ than in UK. And not gonna lie I like the Luude D&B rework of Big City Life on first listen.

The top 10 remains relatively fresh without the likes of 'Heat Waves' or 'Cold Heart', Luude and OneRepublic climb in this week. It's OneRepublic's fifth top 10 in NZ, and Luude and Mattafix's second each. Beyonce charts in NZ for the first time since her feature on Eminem's 'Walk On Water' peaked at #18 in late 2017, and her first time as lead artist since '7/11' peaked at #24 in late 2014...which means nothing from Lemonade charted in NZ! Meanwhile Charlie Puth instantly improves on the #28 peak of 'Light Switch', for his seventh top 20 hit and first since 'How Long' (#17 in 2017).

On the album chart, Chris Brown surprises with only his second top-two album, his first being Fortune which was a #1 in 2012. Three of his last four solo albums peaked at #3. Meanwhile Lorde's Maori album charts higher than its original #8 peak last September! Luke Combs is also top 10, much better than What You See Is What You Get which peaked at #32 in 2019. Speaking of #32, that was Conan Gray's peak for Kid Krow, he improves on that with Superache debuting at #11.

I think the Lorde EP got a vinyl release this week - grabbing that new peak *.*

Did not realise Cat Burns was charting anywhere outside the UK (and Ireland). Turns out the goddard. remix has actually got higher on NZ Spotify than it ever has in the UK, huh ~ (especially odd as the original 'go' has charted in a number of other countries' Spotify but the goddard. remix has only charted in the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and sceaping in Lithuania, it's not even charted in Australia!)

It's nice having the top 5 looking so different from the UK and the US, with Kate Bush the only one in either of their top 5s right now. The highest new entry is from Metallica, 'Master Of Puppets' never charted here before now. Their biggest singles chart successes to date are 'Enter Sandman' and 'Wherever I May Roam', both peaked at #8 in 1991.

'I Ain't Worried' is now OneRepublic's fourth top 5 hit in NZ, and first since 'Something I Need' got to #4 in 2013. Before that they had 'Counting Stars' peak at #2 and 'Apologize' peak at #1. The bottom half of the top 10 also has a climber in Steve Lacy. 'Last Last', 'Betty (Get Money)' and 'Sunroof' are also big climbers, which is good since there are no new entries to speak of!

I don't recognize the name Tami Neilson but this is her fourth top 10 album and first #1. She and Harry Styles hold off Lizzo, although the latter probably wasn't expected at #1, Cuz I Love You only peaked at #31.

New #1! 'Doja' is the 8th song to be #1 this year (two fewer than at this point last year) and the first NZ chart entry altogether for Central Cee, let alone his first #1. 'I Ain't Worried' is now OneRepublic's third top 3 hit, with just 'Apologize' and 'Counting Stars' peaking higher for them. Steve Lacy also climbs a couple spots in the top 10, while Billie Eilish scores two new entries and Russ scores his third NZ entry - 'Seduce' peaked at #18 last year and 'Handsomer' peaked at #30 earlier this year. Rosa Linn also sneaks in at #38 with the potential to climb.

OneRepublic is #2! 'I Ain't Worried' matches the peak of 'Counting Stars', and it's now ahead of 'Doja' on Spotify but so is 'Bad Habit', 'Glimpse Of Us' and 'As It Was'. Steve Lacy seems likely to be the next #1 at this point. Further down, Beyonce's album brings three more tracks of hers into the chart, and 'BREAK MY SOUL' rebounds to #16, but that's where it charted in its debut week, so no new peak for that.

Believe it or not Renaissance is only Beyonce's second #1 album in NZ, and the first was Lemonade, so prior to 2016 she had no solo #1 albums there. Self-titled got to #2 while 4 and I Am Sasha Fierce got to #3. Shania Twain also has two #1 albums, but Not Just A Girl (The Highlights) is not one of them, instead it's this week's lowest new entry at #34.

New #1! 'I Ain't Worried' is the 9th song to be #1 this year (one fewer than at this point last year) and OneRepublic's second #1 in NZ, the first being 'Apologize' 15 years ago! Two other songs overtake last week's #1, we'll see if Steve Lacy or Luude can sneak up to #1. It's also the first week in the NZ chart for 'Sweater Weather' and I have to believe there will be plenty more to come, although tbf it is winter down under.

On the album chart, Curtain Call 2 is only the third Eminem album to miss #1, the most recent being Revival in 2017, which peaked at #3. Also peaking at #3 was Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, Calvin Harris' best-charting album in NZ, but Vol 2 is his first chart entry to miss top 5, debuting much further down at #18. And we see a re-entry and new entry related to Olivia Newton John's passing last week.

Two weeks at #1 now for 'I Ain't Worried', but 'Apologize' had seven weeks at the top, so they've still got a ways to go to match that. Nicki Minaj has only had 10 top 40 hits as lead artist in New Zealand, until now with 'Super Freaky Girl' being her 11th, and her third top 5 - the other two being 'Starships' (#2) and 'Super Bass' (#3). So it's already passed the #9 peak of 'Anaconda'. Chris Brown enters too, but this is his 30th hit as lead artist, and 14th top 10, so nearly half! His two most recent peaks were #22 for 'Woo Baby' and #2 for 'Go Crazy'. The last debut is from YG, whose only other NZ chart appearance was 'Go Loko' which peaked at #15 in 2019...I have no recollection of that one.

On the album chart, this is the very first week at #1 for The Highlights! He's not even touring in New Zealand so maybe it's just #1 by default. Megan Thee Stallion enters the chart, but does not beat the #22 peak of her debut Good News.
