Hello ladies and gentleman. It is with Aeroche's honour and privilege that we can welcome you to the official BJSC LII Final Results!
*commence immense cheering within the room*
Over the last year we have seen BJSC gone from strength to strength, and we are blessed that we managed to become a part of this wonderful
contest at the right time - one which has allowed us to host three times, and has shown us great luck and love with our entries. The quality
of finals just gets better and better, and this one was no exception, with many great songs leaving us behind at the semi-final stage. However,
tonight we present to you 30 great songs that are all vying for that #01 title. Three countries have dominated the winners post over the last 6
months - is it perhaps time for a shake-up?

I actually have a bit more hope for GC than i did over a week ago, Top 20 again would be fab. I already have an entry lined up for next month, which could (HOPEFULLY) do even better

It'd be really nice to see Danaelanda do well for once (even if they've gone 'hipster' and is pretty much the reason for the predicted success so far) as they've long been strugglers in the contest! Out of the contenders I'm hoping for either a Batidas, Ramrynia or Skall victory.

Next up is a country with a sense of taste not seen in BJSC for a LONG time. It's the quirky (and therefore downright
fabulous) Singerpurear!
A big thanks you to the organisers for a fine show, and for all the hard work to make it go smoothly, well done!
Before I get onto the votes I'd just like to grab my 20 seconds of fame while I can't be cut off, and say thank you to all the entrants, in the end we had to make some difficult choices after the phone votes and let some songs go. As the average age of our population is over 50, we decided we'd go back to basics and give preferences to songs, and those that put some rare excitement into our dull lives. However pretty some of them sound, or however great they sound on dancefloors with a few jaegerbombs, or sexy with buxom young ladies offering to do things to us, or comparing something to overdosing - not things we can relate to - we had to cut it down to 10 songs. That still wasn't enough to do it though, so we decided to cut out any singer who has syllable terrets. It's a tragic affliction of many otherwise marvellous young singers, and they suffer terribly for it, but we just can't condone turning short words such as "we" or "it" into "weeee-hee-heee-heeeee" or "I-heeee-ieeee-iiii-iii-tttttt". They need support, not encouragement.

Oh I am loving all these 12s, come them coming. Wasn't really expecting a better result than San Cisco or Imagine Dragons, personally I don't love it anywhere near as much.

001 Ramrynia v Emerentia - Wasting Water!
A song that very much grew on me from the first time I heard it, and just scrapes in a point - for a country that Hendinia so regularly give points to. A different sound for Ramrynia, and not as successful as Krewella from last contest - but definitely has a melody-filled chorus that was enough to push this into points territory, narrowly beating off Batidas!

002 Ashton, Federal Republic Of ♦ Tone Damli - Smash!
Despite our doubts over the track being allowed, who really gives a f***?! It's here now - and we appreciate it's a great track regardless! The chorus is fabulous and punchy, and the verses just needed to be more special to push this higher - but it's been a while since Ashton received points, and whilst it's not as many as Look Back, it's nice to see Tone back on the scoreboard with a smashing track!

The structure is slightly messy, which prevents this rising higher, but it's a jam none the less, and worthy of CINQ POINTS!

Welcome to the final, dearest Bal - and here, have some points! Had you sent Vanbot, you'd probably be on for 12. Had you sent Kelly Sweet, probably like 10. You sent Mausi, and while it's slightly worse, it's certainly not far off! The chorus is extremely catchy, and we were swapping round the 8-6 section a hell of a lot, but this landed here, superb song!

I agree, it has a sort of 'fun.' appeal to it, and fun. make great pop records. I like the lyrics too. During the last mass youth unemployment recession (I fell victim to it for 4 years) we had a good old collective whinge in the pop charts (Ghost Town and the like), so it's good to see some current pop making some sort of statement now it's just as bad for some school/uni leavers..

That really is a top notch top 5, gotta admit, even though I was surprised at it being let through the bag, Smash is better than my points show, and would've got more now, really grown on me.
As it stands - I prefer Overdose, but would prefer Uncover to win now because I'd feel REALLY sorry for Hits otherwise, and Uncover was my 11th fave!

Well done to Batidas, nice song and brilliant to see a different style of song win, and god knows another smash for Hits has been a long time coming. Woah at 3rd place for Ashton, Tone really never fails to SMASH! Despite the possible flop I can hold my head high with 88 points, very pleasing after it got so much hate and all those bottom 7 predictions, glad some people seemed to really like it! Brill to see all of my top three this month come top ten, finally a decent result for my tastes. Wow at Ojnoj doing so well, impressed and very pleased!

Strange though that Batidas should amass 100 points a third of the way through and then only 48 more in the remaining 30 odd votes! I take it the results weren't announced in a random order Definitely built some nice tension and drama though!

Well it must have been some time since the winner was leading the entire contest - not in the very first vote but if the first 2 had been swapped around it would have been. Massive congrats to Hits, your best entry for a while and not a bad winner at all and I suppose if we must have a repeat winner at least it wasn't Fljótavík continuing the three-country monopoly since 'Moan'!
Not the best top 10 but not bad either as the only 2 songs I disliked are both outside it. Fantastic to see Skall scraping back in at the last minute, 4 top 10s in a row for them now I believe? Brill to see Bignia-Zaragovina finally get another top 10 and Danaelanda getting a good new peak too (plus Trifoski and obviously D'yermak'er also re-peaking, all good stuff although slightly disappointed in the end with 'Global Concepts' coming 'only' 17th when it was doing much better earlier).
So close to avoiding the bottom 7 which was my main goal here, ah well! Still beat Allecian fairly conclusively. Finished up getting 62% of my points from 3 countries, a little better than earlier but still pretty odd. No scores between 10 and 5 at all and only two scores between 10 and 3. Record for most 1s in a single contest?
Serious what at Terra Avium coming LAST AGAIN though.

I genuinely find the chorus exactly the same! Especially the piano backing, the melody of the first half of the chorus at least and the structure of how it is sung. Same number of syllables and everything

I would never send a song I'm not fully on board with as It really wouldn't help my interest in the contest. That's why I'm so glad I was introduced to 'Thank You' in the nick of time, as I wouldn't have been sending anything this month that I liked to any reasonable degree otherwise.
Also, as SevenSeize said, there's every change that the hipster song could potentially flop anyway. FLOP WITH LOVED TRACK > FLOP WITH 'SAFE' TRACK etc. (or replace 'flop' with 'win' ovc)

Can I just say, as a pop fan... barring Loreen, I even find most of the pop winners "average" too/can't remember how they go. But the "indie friendly" winners, are worse than the pop winners for me.
Also, I'm pretty sure we'd find/place the respective topics for each of them under the "indie/alternative music" forum on here. So it's as indie as we can see it. They definitely feel more indie to me than they do pop. But pop is such a wide genre to begin with, it's quite difficult deciphering what goes where sometimes.

Definitions used to be Pop = popular, Indie = independent record label, then it all got blurred when the indies got bought out by the majors and indie acts went big time. Woodkid is indie, because he's on an indie label. So is Adele, the biggest pop star in the world. Work that one out!
what is called indie now seems to be what used to be called bedsit or student or album or rock or goth or punk or trance or any mixture of any styles and so on. Maybe Mainstream and Non-mainstream are better terms because what is pop by definition changes with the times and new generations, and thats part of what keeps it fresh and exciting?
Me, if anyone asks what type of music I like, I say first "everything" and then "especially pop" because its a handy blanket term for every commercial act over the decades from Sinatra to Adele. I can't think of any other way of expressing it, except to say "music".

YAY, a fourth consecutive top 10! Given I got a few win predictions, I won't pretend that I'm not a little disappointed, but it's still way better than I expected when I sent my entry in. Don't think I'll be able to enter next time due to exams being imminent (I've actually been addicted to maths in the last few days; it's so stimulating OOPS #virgin), but hopefully I'll be back in May to continue my run of (moderate) success. <3
Oh and to anyone that didn't vote for my entry: I PITY YOU.
Aside from my own track, the results were okay. The top 10 isn't that bad, but when you consider how good the final is overall, and how the bottom 10 are probably better, it's a bit of shame really!

I'm slightly DISAPPOINTED at how well I did in the semi actually, I'd assumed I had just done a Danaelanda and barely scraped through before proceeding to do better in the final. Going from 6 to 0 in three entire countries (Cadelicia, Kylienips, B.a.N.G) I have to say though I was kind of expecting Casey to like 'Pacifica' so it's at least encouraging to know that he did to a certain extent in the semi at least.
(Also managed to scrape a hold on to points (well, 1 point) from Aeroche and Trifoski though and even gain a point from N DNTN so it's not all bad).
Loving that 12-12-12-4-3-2-2-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1 points split. More voters than 'Stars' got which seems odd as it's clearly a fairly niche song if the only 3 people who gave it more than four points all gave it 12. Tempted to scout through old results tables to see if 5 is a record for either number of 2s or number of 1s
Anyway aside from rambling about my own semi performance, wow at Tinnmark slaying semi-final 1 so much - quite reminiscent of 'The Mother We Share' really. And go on Aquafina and Trifoski doing great in the semi too Even in a supposed 'indie' semi rather shocked to see Zara only came FIFTH in the semi!

Oh delighted to finish pretty much exactly where I'd hoped, never expected to be top 10 but was hoping to sneak in the top half. Three 12s too!
Not a terrible winner but not something I'd ever likely to vote for, a shame 'Overdose' couldn't manage it.

Dark Motion definitely grew to be one of my favourites of this contest, and will probably last much longer in my affections than my other faves. Also quite astonished at Aquafina's drop from semi-to-final (i think he "wins" )
I have TWO songs lined up for the next contest *.* [/HYPE]. One is VERY MAUSI-esque (but with MALE vocals) and the other is the complete opposite (not happy or care-free), so I may just choose depending on my mood when confirmation comes around...

at how well Tinnmark did in the semi! Is that the second biggest points total after 'Look Back' by Tone Damli? (144). Also Unovia should be greatful for the 8 random.org gave them via me! Although I probably still would have voted for them after listening to all the songs, just probably a 3 at most which would have put Greenfroze through.

I went from 2nd to 10th in the final, which is a tad disappointing, but it seems that the problem wasn't that I lost semi 2 votes - in fact for many my scores increased - but I simply failed to pick up many semi 1 votes at all! I probably would've DNQ'd if I was in that one...

I think you were around 12th in my votes in the end. So many songs I really enjoyed in this contest! I could have voted for twenty.
