Oh my god *.* I was already excited for this off the back of 'Love' but consider me extremely hyped now
DEAD
I was watching this in primark and silently screaming in the corner of the shoe section
Omg, I am not ready *.*
bizarre trailer
but no confirmed date??
So hyped You can tell this is going to be a really special and well thought out album. "Love" has set the scene so well!
also the weeknd was clearly teased as a feature in that, can anyone make sense of any of the other symbols?
It's going to be a woke album *.* The imagery is there
woke icon
I literally just clocked....Born to Die / Lust for Life !!!!
oh my GOD!!!!!!!!!
jesus christ it really is for the fans
Everything is perfect
Very nice trailer.
Hopefully the album is ethereal like Coldplay's Midnight, so hopefully it's the complete opposite of that, where Midnight was the outlier; and this album is esoteric, except from the lead single.
OMG I am still out so haven't seen trailer yet as have limited connection but I am so so hyped!!! Love the album title also! <3
Aw I really love that trailer and the positive message it gives. I'm still not really that into 'Love' (although I feel it could grow in the context of the album, if the album is good) but I've regained interest in this era already. I feel like the positive vibes could be even more effective as most people associate Lana with darker, moody music.
Couldn't love that trailer any more. Perfect.
What a trailer!!! So perfect I am so excited for this to slay! <3 <3
That trailer blew my mind!! Hyped She was made to be famous.
She's so back on form - fully expecting this album to be epic. Just hope she can get some hits from it.
This voice! I wouldn't mind if her next project was an audiobook
'Love' is probably my song of the yr so far and shows how multi-faceted and amazing she can be when she's at the top of her game. The potential this whole project has is overwhelmingly incredible and easily the most excited I've been for a Lana album.
same here, Love is by far the best song of 2017 so far
I've seen at Ukmix they claim the second single is gonna be the title track featuring The Weeknd, but not sure where their info is coming from, is that confirmed?
Are we finally going to get some news of the album release? I really want more music. I'd be so here for a Weeknd featuring single.
The album comes out on May 26, while the title track will be out a week before according to Music Week. FYI, The Weeknd isn't credited as a featured artist in the latter, but he co-wrote it.
finally some news but May 26 is so far away! Really thought it was gonna be out sooner, like in a couple weeks, since we already got the trailer
same for the title track, I even thought it was gonna be out tomorrow :/ but at least we know what/when to expect
YASSSS! longer than I thought it'd be but so so hyped!
The song could be released earlier to be honest (maybe this month?). As far as I know, Music Week also includes UK impact dates in their schedule, so the track could be out sometime this month and the release date (May 19) is the impact date.
Logically, I'd have released it a week tomorrow. She needs something to keep up the hype now the impact of Love has worn off - and a Weeknd credit would have helped her on the song whether he's on vocals or not.
MW has taken the info down, no longer there guess they announced it too soon(i.e. before Lana herself)
I'm definitely here for the Lana/The Weeknd collab!
I expected something a bit... better.
me too - unusual
but its qt?? its not UGLY
Love it of course!!
Aww, Valentina's looking lovely.
oh love it
it's happy Lana
I think it's great. Lana smiling, the Born to Die Truck and the video games font, it's a the total antithesis - Born to Die/Lust For Life. So much thought has gone into this.
I think the smile is becoming the focal point of this whole era is it not?
Yeah, love the artwork. Loving the return of the old logo 👌🏼
guess now Lana is gonna hibernate for another week, track listing next?
I love how it happened on a Tuesday after the "especially on Tuesdays" line in the trailer *.*
It's an ok cover, it all just looks a bit..."eh?"
LOVE the font. Have to say it's nice to see Lana smiling. The album trailer has got me hyped 100%.
I'm here for it if it's not another album mostly consisting lyrically about the woes of rich people.
finally heard Best American Record, hope it makes the cut, very good track and love the lyrics
Confirmed that The Weeknd collaboration is premiering as Hottest Record on Radio 1 tonight
Already dead
Omg hype!!!! I'm so excited for this!
8 MINUTES TO GO. I'm ready.
GUYSSSSSS ITS THE NEXT SONG SOMEONE HOLD ME
So EXCITED.
Gorgeous. Their voices mesh SO well together
f***KKKK I WAS NOT READY FOR THAT. ABSOLUTE BLOODY PERFECTION
my boyfriends back. AND HE'S COOLER THAN EVER
They really work so well together so gorgeous
This is gorgeous and so pop
Does it sound like a smash?
PERFECTION.
This is KILLER <3
I think Weeknd's name alone will turn this into at least a bigger hit than Love (which did respectably for a Lana single)
LOVE IT
OH. MY. f***ING. GOD.
I'm truly deceased.
I wasn't ready for this level of perfection.
Why do Lana and The Weeknd keep making such good music together *.* My two moody faves never let me down
amazing
love the lyric video too
and you can listen again to the R1 interview
she mentions 2 acoustic kinda songs, one called Yosemite
plus Tomorrow Never Came with Sean Lennon
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p050jrsx
I adore this.
Reminds me of 'Without You' so much and that has always been one of my all time Lana favs.
Ok.
WTH AT HER ACTUALLY DELIVERING ANOTHER SONG I LOVE. HOLY CRAP THIS IS INCREDIBLE!
i like this but can't say that I love it initially, so many high keys *.*
I see that smile is back at the end of the video too!!!
this is ok?
This is PERFECT.
I like it.
But there's just something about this era that isn't clicking for me. Everything from the hooks and the production to the visuals seems a bit obvious and nothing is exciting me like when High By The Beach came out.
Do y'all think this has a chance of being a hit?
I wouldn't be too shocked, tho I guess it all depends if her labels cares enough to try and make a Lana Del Rey song a hit. They'll need to send radio payola etc. But sure The Weeknd feat should help with streaming - though she is already an ok streaming artist - so it should be interesting to see how this will do.
I think it'll do really well for her, I'm imagining more than a few weeks top 40!
Although maybe I'm being too optimistic. Like you say though, a few weeks top 40 would be great for her anyway.
It'll probably peak on album release week, because her albums get really good first week streams. (And there'll be cherry picks on iTunes).
I'm hearing the album is out at the end of May? Do we think she can knock Ed from #1? Her last album only did 30k but there is a lot more support and hype this time round, so she'll open with more than that. I'm thinking around 40k?
im still dead
#BUYLUSTFORLIFEONITUNES
I can't take this off repeat, stunning song
The Weeknd feature should make this a decent moderate US hit, if not better. I'd be very surprised if it did nothing there.
I stan this. Their voices are just perfect together
this is really good!! loving The Weeknd's parts on this
Wayyyy better than Love, their voices fuse perfectly! Hope this can be a big hit for her.
This took me a few listens to get into it but when it does it is amazing! Very uplifting too. Solid release! Love both the singles thus far.
to me it sounds like a hodge lodge of different songs to me...the chorus is 'wildest dreams' by taylor, bits of the verses remind me of all saints and 'be my baby'
that said i like it, their voices marry well together
I think it's quite well documented on this site that I am far from a Lana Del Rey fan, but this has got me on board from first listen. They work so so well together and I actually think this is the first time I've heard something from her which I love since National Anthem.
It seems Lana is slowly getting me on board with her music again. I like the "lust for life keeps us alive" refrain and I very much echo the sentiment that The Weeknd and Lana make a dream team. The song hasn't got me instantly invested but I wouldn't be surprised if I did end up really liking this. Definitely a step in the right direction.
Yeah this new song is bland af
love the "take off take off take off all your clothes", I wonder if this was the original chorus of the song, cos Lana explained she went to Max Martin and he made her change the song structure and a different part became the chorus
This is my favourite Lana single Ride.
Obsessed with Lust For Life at the moment, their voices work sooo well together Also been playing Big Eyes and Gods & Monsters lots too, two of her most under-rated tracks imo but two of her best for me. Ridiculously excited for this album now, I really hope it lives up to the hype
THE QUEEN IS BACK IN THE TOP 40!
AMAZING!!!!!
07/05/2017 the day my 2012 heart stopped
This lady's Lana reactions give me life.
"Queen mother"
Queen mother's already topped the Honeymoon era with these two singles. She better get a third #1 album.
NEW SONG COMING!!!!!!!
it's already on spotify but can't be played, it's called Coachella - Woodstock on my Mind
f*** f*** f*** IM LISTENING NOW
IT'S WOKE I AM BROKE
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!
INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!
THIS IS GONNA BE HER BEST ALBUM!!!!
Love it
Looks like we'll get the album pre order tomorrow then.
Where is everyone listening to it? I can't find it on Spotify.
Album of the year for me already based on these 3 songs
It's not on the album, it's a random song. ffs Lana
!!!!!!!!!!!
What a mess
what you mean a random song?? it's not on the album
until the Lust for Life single release everything was perfect, but then instead of releasing the video and the preorder, Lana went in hibernation... is the album still coming next week??
Great song. Hope she's doing okay. Maybe Lust For Life underperformed compared to what her label wanted or expected?
No promo no video nothing
Of course it underperformed
She put it out thendisappeared
The video's on its way, it's mentioned in the latest email.
It's a shame it looks like they're delaying the album release without even mentioning it though...
Extra non-album single and it's incredible.
Rolling Stone and Metacritic have listed this for May 26th. Maybe it's coming on that date after all. Slay us with that one-week pre order Lana!
A French magazine has now reported July 21st
ohhh really wanted the album next week although the lack of confirmation made it very doubtful
Yeah, I read on JosepVinaixa about a week ago that it'd been pushed back to July 21st, so I assume that's the case
there's no way she can leave us that long without another promo single surely?
Yeah, there'll be a third single for sure, but it seems silly not to release it off the back of a Weeknd collab/video.
she should release the LFL video on Friday together with the album announcement and the preorder
Do they really think they're gonna get a bigger hit single than this?
Pretty sure Lana was quoted the other day saying she won't do anything for hits, so we can expect to see this floppy promotion continuing :')
I'll be kind of gutted if Coachella doesn't make the album I wasn't gripped on the first listen but it's become a massive grower for me and I think I might prefer it to Love now too. Lust for Life also remains amazing (single of her career perhaps?!?!) so pls no more push-backs, I need the album of the year asap :')
From https://twitter.com/LanaDelRey/status/865654083297738753:
the AESETHICS of this era are so on point, a really stunning video
woke queen
Great vid! I don't mind the album delay as long as it isn't delayed again! July 21st is still a summer release date which I wanted.
Pure and sweet video. That's what I like.
Nice video! They're so cute together.
Lovely video!
Lana confirms http://www.pitchfork.com/news/73763-lana-del-rey-reveals-lust-for-life-album-release-date/
She'll be working with Stevie Nicks!
A$AP Rocky collab confirmed!!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently the pre-order will go live on July 12th with 2 new tracks that day too
Yes Lana instagrammed herself
Guess 1 is Summer Bummer
Cherry prob the other
https://www.instagram.com/p/BWVy3QIF9RS/
URBAN QUEEN
I'm so excited for her to get the pre-order up on Wednesday, I hope she gets a video out for whichever song is the single soon afterwards, instead of waiting ages like with Lust For Life.
Glad she's finally releasing the pre-order, a week before the album release is so late to do that! I've been watching out for it
Absolutely ideal.
yes yes was confirmed to be Groupie love a while ago
so we're getting the 2 tracks with ASAP tomorrow
I also think it's a bit weird to release the pre-order so late as it doesn't allow for much time to amass large number of pre-orders
the hardcore fans will do but she'll miss a lot of random casual pre-orders
I'm just tired of waiting tbh :-/
who else is shook
i am shoooook.
I pre ordered the vinyl!
So good. That production >>>>>
Wow, two more excellent singles. So glad we have a pre-order now too, just over a week to go until another 11/10 from Lana
I love the full-on urban sound on Summer Bummer (sounds like the sort of thing that could be huge in the US, perhaps?) but the production is amazing on both *-*
Here's how I'd rank what we've heard so far:
1 Lust For Life
2 Coachella
3 Love
4 Summer Bummer
5 Groupie Love
I think the bottom two could maybe overtake Love in time though (I don't go back to it that often even if it is gorgeous). So glad Coachella made the album too, I was getting worried that she'd leave it off entirely!
Track list confirmed on Lana's website
Love
Lust For Life (ft. The Weeknd)
13 Beaches
Cherry
White Mustang
Summer Bummer (ft. A$AP Rocky & Playboi Carti)
Groupie Love (ft. A$AP Rocky)
In My Feelings
Coachella – Woodstock In My Mind
God Bless America – And All the Beautiful Women In It
When The World Was at War We Kept Dancing
Beautiful People Beautiful Problems (ft. Stevie Nicks)
Tomorrow Never Came (ft. Sean Ono Lennon)
Heroin
Change
Get Free
5 features?
Ah I didn't realise we had 'Groupie Love' too! Probably my least favourite from the ones we've heard too but I still like it a lot. Absolutely loving 'Summer Bummer'.
Love both tracks. Still sad 'Best American Record' got scrapped, it was better than everything she has released this era.
nuts to exclude BAR cos apparently it was "too happy" :/ makes no sense Lana!!!!!!!!!
not crazy about the newies, but might grow after a few listens
The features are great, the add something special, and you can tell it's not a cash cow, Lana just relates to these artists and wants them on her album.
I'm so excited for this. Do we think she can make the #1? She sold 28k and went to #2 last time with an album that had nowhere near the hype or support.
Groupie Love might be my favourite so far, big Born to Die vibes. Love and LFL are good songs but they aren't the kind of songs I really like from Lana - too positive. Altho I'm really just waiting on a studio version of Cherry...
think she'll be #2 behind Ed
no time to build up pre-orders
Actually melted down over how good Groupie Love is. At this point I feel she's making this album for me. It's just sooooooooooooo good 😭😭😭😭
Summer Bummer is good but Groupie Love is next level. I'm so slayed once again!!!!
'Summer Bummer' is an absolute tuuuuuune, loving Lana going in such a hip-hop direction *.* I do like 'Groupie Love' as well but it was underwhelming in comparison.
Straight in at #1 on pre orders on iTunes and #10 on the overall Amazon chart.
the version of Summer Bummer that was first upped to YT is much better than the version on Spotify
http://picosong.com/WDFA/
Wow that is much better
wow at Summer Bummer. had no idea Lana could sound this good on a trap beat.
Summer Bummer and Groupie Love are both very good. I cannot wait for the album now
Pre-ordered the album today. Heads up anyone thinking, it's much cheaper on Google play than Amazon. Didn't look at itunes.
'Summer Bummer' is seriously so good. Oh my god. The first time I heard it I was like "Yeah, it's ok" and the second time I was like "THIS IS SO SO GOOD AND SO SMOOTH". 'Groupie Love' is good too but 'Summer Bummer' is just amazing.
Summer Bummer is horrific, the production sounds like a mixtape diss track :/ Groupie Love is much better, possibly the best of the era so far except maube Lust For Life but I'm not sure I'll go back to it much.
HQ official snippets for whole album https://clyp.it/bncs52vn. In My Feelings and When The World Was At War sound incredible.
Any word on the official third single?
Can see this doing 30k and going #1 provides there's no other big releases.
she's playing a show in brixton NEXT WEEK :/ queen of short notice
wow I imagined she'd focus the album week promo in the US
http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=202869 to Lana Del Rey's best selling singles list.
I'm seeing her I'm excited! This hasn't budged from top 2 on iTunes pre orders (only Now! overtook) and is #4 on the Amazon overal physicals charts, one below Ed!
BUZZJACK I AM TERRIFIED
okay so i didn't get presale tickets and i've now realised what an obsessed stan i am bc i've spent the last hour shaking and crying. 12pm be good 2 me
OMG I GOT THEM
congrats
This album is STUNNING.
God Bless America is one of my favourite Lana songs ever.
It's all about 'Tomorrow Never Came', 'In My Feelings' and 'Get Free' (which sounds like 'Creep'?) for me
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/lana-del-rey-lust-for-life-album-leak-little-f***ers-a7848311.html
Lana needs to work on her passwords
That's disappointing it leaked. She really needs the sales and to raise her profile. I'll be holding off listening til my pre-order comes.
Yeah could be 3 months (or 4 if we go by the original release date) like Madonna's last album. It does seem like most albums leak a couple of days early for some reason.
It used to be really common for albums to leak a couple of weeks before release at least but it seems like the standard is only a couple of days now. Obviously there are some that never leak early and unfortunate cases like Madonna though
What a stunning, perfect album from start to finish! Cannot fault it - such an incredible display of her talent. So blown away by 13 Beaches, with time it could easily become my favourite. What an absolute beaut
First listen ranking:
01. Lust for Life
02. Love
03. 13 Beaches
04. Groupie Love
05. Heroin
06. Cherry
07. Beautiful People Beautiful Problems
08. Summer Bummer
09. God Bless America...
10. Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind
11. Get Free
12. Change
13. White Mustang
14. Tomorrow Never Came
15. When the World Was at War We Kept Dancing
16. In My Feelings
There's no point in me giving a score because everything is 10 from Tomorrow Never Came upwards. The bottom two are still 9/10 good
13 Beaches is somehow sounding EVEN MORE stunning with each listen. f*** me *.*
Gosh, I sure wish I could listen to this album now. If only that were possible, I'd be so happy!
Yeah, I literally can't wait. I'm so ready.
Initial reaction: the production is amazing but I actually think this is her weakest album. The melodies are weak and the a lot of the choruses are repetitive. The standard of the songs are on a par with her demos, like, they're good but you can tell why they didn't make it onto an album.
I have a feeling a lot of songs will grow on me though.
Joe! Only you can save me! I'm fine!
The album is really more "lost" for life than "lust"
have to listen further but for me the biggest issue is Architecture being excluded, which is better than anything on the album except Love
After a couple of listens I think this is probably my least favourite of hers, I'm only really liking a few. Far too early to tell though, I didn't get into 'Honeymoon' at all at first and now it's my favourite of hers.
13 Beaches and Cherry are the Lana formula perfected, so good. The album is nice but a little bloated. Is anyone else getting Born to Die sequel vibes?
Ultraviolence remains the one~
Lust For Life (song) is still perfection in song form
I can't choose my top 5 from this album rn it's so good 😭😭😭

f***ing Now 97 blocking her from #1 in the UK even though she's the top artist album.
cherry makes me want to take off my clothes
Omggfggggg I can't wait to go to the store and buy this shit when I get back. I haven't listened yet as I've been in Florida (kilos)! Don't want to spoil a Lana experience by not being able to submerge myself in it. I'm hoping there are some bops on it while being as perfectly fluid as Ultraviolence was.
Just bought it, about halfway through it now. My favorites besides the singles so far are Cherry and Summer Bummer. But all the tracks I've heard so far are absolutely gorgeous!
I really love this album. I love every Lana album but if there was one issue I could point out with most of them it's that they really struggled with cohesiveness in a couple of directions - Ultraviolence and Honeymoon were both really consistent moods with a couple of songs disrupting that, and Born To Die was probably a bit too consistent (I'm not sure where I stand on Paradise with this). This album is really different for me in that it actually has something of a gradient of variance without ever really having an extreme jump - I was worried about 'Summer Bummer' doing that, but actually it fits in pretty well with the rest. This is... the third album in a row where she's thrown me something of a curveball with the overall sound, as I expected it to be a more lightweight album than it is after the first two singles + 'Coachella', but I'm really happy with the direction she ended up taking even though I love the songs in that vein. Overall, the album is about what I expected Honeymoon to be, which is basically Born To Die with broader horizons, and I'm so happy to get consistent hip hop influences back in her production.
I do think the album is a bit long overall, and while none of the songs in isolation drag the album down, I do think a few could be cut to make the album a bit more concise - probably 'White Mustang', 'Heroin' and 'Change' would go for me. My highlights are 'Cherry' (so many moments in this song), 'Get Free', 'When The World Was At War' and... 'Coachella', actually. I think all of those songs add something to her discography that wasn't before and they're such refreshing listens as a result. I adore how perfect a pair 'Love' and 'Get Free' make as opener and closer, and actually a major strong point I think this album has is its tracklist. It flows so well and it's bookended by the perfect opener and perfect ending. It makes it such a satisfying listen.
I don't really know where to rank this in terms of Lana albums, primarily because I've never really been able to rank them against each other. I love all of them for quite different reasons and none of them are really perfect. I got by far the most enjoyment from Born To Die but that's the most difficult one bar Paradise to listen to now, whereas Ultraviolence and Honeymoon have both gotten less use overall but work for me pretty well these days. I think Lust For Life will be grouped with the latter but with a stronger start, so maybe it is my favourite, actually. But that feels weird, so I think I'll stick with not having a ranking.
I'm so happy to hear that she's already making new songs, by the way. Hoping for a new album next year.
EDIT: Oh and I love the lyrics and themes on this album. So great hearing an expanded universe.
White Mustang and When The World Was At War We Kept Dancing are my favourite album tracks *.*
Possibly album of the year, definitely between this & Melodrama! This is legit everything I want from Lana, so so perfect <3
Love is still my favourite track and Beautiful People Beautiful Problems, In My Feelings & 13 Beaches are my fave album tracks! Will do a proper ranking later *.*
All I need now is for Lana to do a tour in the UK 🙏
totally addicted to Cherry
I'm so glad you love the album Umi, great write up. I do agree it could be shorter but at the same time I don't think there's a single dud in the 16 tracks. I agree re the expanded universe too, it really feel like Lana is opening her eyes personally and opening her mind to us.
TONIGHT 😭😭😭
I'm seriously buzzing for tonight... I have to go alone though as I wasn't allowed a plus one as the list is so tight
BUT IM BUZZING EITHER WAY.
This is already growing on me massively like I knew it would. 'Cherry' is my favourite at the moment
Jealous of all you guys there tonight! Hope she was amazing.
The critical acclaim for this album has been amazing to see. Most top critics calling it her best work yet. Her highest Pitchfork and Metacritic score so far, two Gaurdian reviews were glowing, ID called it her most important work yet. So proud, a true masterpiece.
amazing review in Pitchfork
http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/lana-del-rey-lust-for-life/
'Get Free' is the most... I can't. I love it.
She did 'In My Feelings' and 'Love' acapella last night.
Cherry is probs gonna overtake 13 Beaches as my fave, it's sfg (bitch) (f***)
THIS ALBUM IS MAGICAL So much better than 'Honeymoon'!
Heroin and White Mustang have come or of nowhere for me. Songs.
'Get Free' is the only song to even COMING CLOSE to dethroning 'Off To The Races' as my favorite Lana song. Absolutely SUBLIME.
100/10
Two shows announced for Liverpool and Glasgow this morning on BBC with Nick Grimshaw!
Can she sell out two arenas though?
She sold out Brixton in one minute... I think it's plausible.
Gorgeous album, definitely her best since Born To Die, I could have listened to another 10 tracks, the production and her vocals are so gorgeous throughout and there are some incredible choruses on here. I particularly adore Groupie Love (up until A$AP Rocky...not sure his part was needed in this track really), When The World Was At War, God Bless America, Beautiful People and Tomorrow Never Came <3
'God Bless America - And All The Beautiful Women In It' is the most important song this past week with everything going on in the US. Lana for president.
Bought a digital copy, physical & been streaming nonstop tbh.
Really impressed with this album! Aside from the songs I already know, 'Cherry' and 'Get Free' have quickly become instant favourites looking forward to finding out which songs will slowly creep up on me on further listens. Getting this on vinyl as soon as it comes out tbh. (on top of our Joe picking up a copy of the 'Love/Lust For Life' heart shaped vinyl for me while on his trip in the U.S., wharra babe x)
Absolutely floored that she had a Sean Ono Lennon collab on here *.* the Beatles fangirl in me is squealing.
Lust For Life is still my fave. But I'm always going to have a special connection with that one as it's the first track of hers I adore.
I liked the album more than I thought I would. But I think (coming from a non-fan) I'd prefer the tracks at individual, separate times. As one, whole album though, it drains for me. All the tracks sound too similar for me to properly enjoy.
I'll give it another go though!
#1!!
25k! Not too far from Honeymoon's 28k
Also #1 on USA's building sales chart on HDD. With 69 percent reported.
Single sales :
Lust For Life: 80,419
Summer Bummer: 12,863
Love: 108,047
So pleased this has hit #1, I was really worried for it after the first midweeks but she pulled it out of the bag in the end - I've been streaming it like mad all week
I don't think I've given my thoughts in here yet so now seems like a good time, it's probably not her most cohesive sounding album but all of the tracks are so strong and really sound brilliant as both standalone tracks and in the context of the album. I didn't have an immediate standout at first but Cherry has been the one of I've returned most to since, the expletives are so perfect for the track and it's easily one of her best ever tracks for me now. I'm also adoring Summer Bummer at the moment too - I think the 'white lies and black beaches' line that flows into the bridge may well be my favourite moment on the album. Finally, I think Get Free may be her most glorious album closer yet, the outro alone is spectacular and I adore the 'out of the black, into the blue' refrain
In conclusion, I'd probably rank this as her second best album so far behind Ultraviolence but it certainly has the potential to leapfrog that. Unpopular opinion alert but Born to Die is my least favourite of hers
HDD BUILDING ALBUM SALES CHART
100% IN
1. Lana Del Rey - Lust For Life - 81,637
2. Tyler The Creator - Flower Boy - 72,438
3. Meek Mill - Wins & Losses - 37,083
#1 in the US! (103k/80k)
Also Canada!
So, US, UK, Australia and Canada #1!
Yes! So well deserved! Hope it stays selling consistently. Especially with all the glowing reviews it's been collecting.
Ordered my 'Lust For Life' box set, to go with my others. Due out at the end of Sept.
The US #1 is actually not confirmed, there is data missing, I don't know if Lana has this after all
Justice has been made, she's #1
Lana Del Rey Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart, Tyler, The Creator and Meek Mill Bow at Nos. 2 & 3
Plus, Linkin Park's 'One More Light' leaps 17-4 and 'Hybrid Theory' bounds 27-8, and top 10 debuts for the 'Descendants 2' soundtrack and Romeo Santos.
Lana Del Rey scores her second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as Lust for Life bows atop the Aug. 12-dated tally. The set, which was released on July 21 through Polydor/Interscope Records, earned 107,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 27, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 80,000 were in traditional album sales.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Aug. 12-dated chart (where Del Rey debuts at No. 1) will be posted in full on Billboard’s websites later in the day on Aug. 2.
Following closely behind Del Rey are Tyler, The Creator’s Flower Boy and Meek Mill’s Wins and Losses, as they debut at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. Flower Boy earned 106,000 units (with 70,000 in album sales), while Wins and Losses tallied 102,000 units (with 37,000 in album sales). Industry forecasters expected a close race among the three albums, with any of them potentially finishing on top. All three albums actually performed better than expected.
As earlier reported, the release of Billboard's Aug. 12-dated charts were delayed. A top-tier data provider encountered technical issues, initially preventing the delivery of its data to Nielsen Music (which provides the sales, streaming and airplay information for Billboard's charts). However, the provider was ultimately able to resolve the issue, and deliver the missing information to Nielsen Music. Billboard's charts were then completed using the data.
With the entire top three debuting titles, it’s only the second time in 2017 that the top three are all new arrivals. It previously happened on the Feb. 18-dated chart, when Migos’ Culture, Brantley Gilbert’s The Devil Don’t Sleep and Kehlani’s SweetSexySavage bowed at Nos. 1-3, respectively.
Further, this week marks the first time in 2017 where the top three albums are debuts that each earned more than 100,000 units. It last occurred on the Dec. 10, 2016-dated list, when Metallica’s Hardwired… To Self-Destruct debuted at No. 1 with 291,000 units, followed by Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic at No. 2 (231,000) and Miranda Lambert’s The Weight of These Wings at No. 3 (133,000).
Del Rey previously led the list with her second full-length studio album, Ultraviolence, which premiered atop the chart in 2014. Overall, Lust for Life is Del Rey’s fifth top 10-charting album -- the singer/songwriter also visited the region with her full-length debut, Born to Die (No. 2 in 2012), the Paradise EP (No. 10, 2012) and her previous studio set, Honeymoon (No. 2, 2015). Honeymoon launched with 116,000 units (of which 105,000 were in traditional album sales).
Lust for Life is the second No. 1 for Interscope Records in 2017, following Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., which ruled for three weeks in May.
'Change' has crept up to be one my absolute favourites. That followed by 'Get Free' is perfection 😍
You've just made it even clearer that it's the dumbest thing to be said on here.
Let's all release shit music that sells well, save the music industry
Back on track, pretty sure this is my favourite album of hers now.
Also, the album did sell well...It was #1 around the world. 3 weeks top 5 in the UK.
Tell him ladies. 👏🏻
This album is so important to me. Like, I can't even explain how much it means to me. It is definitely one of my favorite albums of all time. Even out doing some of my favorite work by Britney. Seriously flawless inside and out. To have such a fitting narrative in such a dark time it's just… It makes me speechless
Not just for my own life, but for the sake of my country.
CRYING SHAKING SCREAMING SHE WAS PERFECT LIVE!!!
Have been waiting five years to see her and she didn't disappoint one bit ❤️❤️❤️
What did she play live? A lot of the new album or no?
Not really, it was very similar to the Brixton set but with Serial Killer/In My Feelings + Art Deco snippets dropped and she added Body Electric/Change/Music To Watch Boys To/Yayo <3
(So she's still only doing 4 songs from Lust For Life 😂)
In My Feelings was just 30 seconds because someone asked her and Art Deco is fake news, so you lost one song and gained 4. Your set was better
I was wary of going to see her because I wasn't sure what she'd end up playing. She has some real gems but some I like less.
I saw her at Way Out West and she was the sweetest
she only does 4 songs of LFL (Love, Cherry, White Mustang and Change) but not complaining cos they're actually my top 4. You can see they're new cos she does them very bare, almost no instruments, but it's good
then of course she does all the hits from BtD, Video Games, Blue Jeans, Summertime Sadness, Born to die, Off to the races...
Really liked all the new ones, probably the highlight of the night, Blue Jeans and Born to Die were a bit weird, probably the low point...
i'm gutted i missed the Liverpool show... it was just too much of a technical hitch to get me there... setlist wasn't too different from Brixton though would have loved to see 'yayo' live (poss my fave Lana song).
'Lust for Life' Remixes are coming from BloodPop and The Avener and a Clams Casino Remix of 'Summer Bummer'
The remixes are incredible!
21 is one of the best albums ever, 25 isn't. But what does this has to do with Lana lol
Lana posted in instagram behind-the-scenes footage from 'Lust For Life' recording sessions.
Radiohead were taking legal action against Lana Del Rey for copying “Creep” on her Lust For Life song “Get Free.”
bast*rds :/
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/jan/08/radiohead-lana-del-rey-creep?CMP=fb_gu
You can hardly blame Radiohead. There can be few more blatant cases of two songs sounding the same. It's a 21st century equivalent of My Sweet Lord / He's So Fine. Lana DelRey cannot credibly claim the she's never heard Creep (as has happened in cases where the allegation relates to a much more obscure song being copied).
but come on, creep has universal chords that are used in a million songs, it's a basic chord progression used to death, not something unique and extraordinary that radiohead came up with
it's like if oasis sued somebody for their unique chords
I mean, they do sound the same so I can see why they did it.
A cut fine. But 100% is the dispute. The song is *so* much more than just a 100% Creep knock off.
Well at least it entered the Spotify chart today at 152 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
They’ve denied demanding 100%, they say they’re still in negotiations about it but have never asked for 100%. No idea why Lana would say that if it’s not true though.
There’s no denying it sounds incredibly similar.
I don't understand why they're suing, when they got done for plagiarizing on 'Creep' themselves... Lmao. :/
You know I'd never noticed before but it really is almost identical in the verses. It's much more than just the chord progression, the structure of the lyrics and the melody are the same.
Yeah but it is hardly that noticeable, and it is not anywhere near a massive chart hit - this seems like a huge overreaction by the lawyers on behalf of Radiohead for no reason other than: because they can. I'm getting pretty sick of the growing number lawsuits based on tenuous similarities or even being heavily inspired by the feel or groove of a previously released track like with “Blurred Lines” and more recently “Uptown Funk” that seem to get more and more ridiculous and pretty much based on greed. Let's face it those last two were only brought about because of the huge amount of money the aforementioned tracks have attracted in royalties rather than any apparent injustice or lack of credit for artistry - if you want to massively stifle creativity then this is a way of doing it I guess..
Not that noticeable? It's almost exactly the same tune. Anyone not listening to the lyrics would think it was a cover version.
I agree that the "Blurred Lines" case should never have gone the way it did (I feel that lawsuit ended up being a judgement upon Robin Thicke, rather than on the nigh-on-nonexistent musical similarities between the two songs), but in this case I can definitely hear the musical similarities. I do believe that it's unfair to blame Radiohead for starting the lawsuit, if past examples are anything to go by, it is likely that it was Radiohead's publishers that made the claim, rather than Thom Yorke & co.
I often find it hard to see the similarities with these kind of things, but this one jumped out at me straight away. I remember listening to the album for the first time and thinking it straight away, before seeing comparisons made elsewhere, which hardly ever happens for me. The verses are so similar.
I also think many people are suing others without motive, Blurred Lines , Uptown Funk
also Sam Smith/Tom Petty, it's just coincidence that you use the same chords
the number of chords is finite and there are classic chord progressions that everybody uses
if you learn to play C G Am F, you can play a thousand songs that have the same progression
like Taylor Swift only knows those 4 chords and all her songs have the same chords
WHy would you ask for 100% of an album track though? Enjoy your 5k, it won't be enough to pay your lawyer bills.
Lana is releasing a cover of you must love me (from evita) for some Andrew Lloyd Webber compilation thingy, the album is out 16th march so this'll be out by then at the latest *.*
Lana has track called ‘Bartender’ that doesn't belong to a record yet, but she hoping to create a video for the song.
Jesus! Billboard - Lana Del Rey was overcome with emotion and broke down in tears during her concert stop in Atlanta, Georgia after a man was arrested for an alleged kidnapping plot against the singer three days earlier in Orlando, Florida.
Summer Bummer is so perfect in this weather
Love this album
My second favourite of hers after Born To Die
Literally not a bad track on it though. Fully deserved it’s #1 in the UK.
