Thanks to you all having wonderful taste and giving Gabrielle the crown that BJSC should have given her for the absolutely sensational 5 Fine Frøkner!! I'm really glad that you all loved it so much and I really hope some of you made a great discovery out of it!

As your reigning champion, the Pop Mods have given me the honour of bringing to you the third edition of the Pop Forum Song Contest!

Your theme this month is "Song of the Summer"! Your Pop Mods want to hear "poptastic bangers which are perfect to listen to whilst laying in the sun drinking a cocktail!". The last contest was of such a high quality, I'm really looking forward to seeing what all of you think is the song of the summer.

Now I've been advised of a few entry guidelines from the Pop forum moderators:

1. The song must not have reached the top 100 in the UK chart and not a massive hit in its country of origin
2. The Artist must not have an Artist Forum on Buzzjack
3. Any song that we feel is giving other songs an unfair advantage (eg, Sales) or somewhat fits the veto rules (popular on the forum) will still be vetoed
4. For this contest, we are intrigued by artists that are perhaps not known outside of their own country. We want to discover the best of pop
5. An artist will only get one entry per contest, so first come first served
6. The song must not have been a top 20 hit in another song contest on the site. However, a song that has previously been entered into these contests may still be vetoed.

Now the rules and regs are out the way with, it's time for me to fill you in on more of the fun stuff! You can confirm from now all the way up to 23:59 BST on June 21st, which is the LONGEST day of the year and the summer solstice - kinda fitting wouldn't you agree for a theme of 'Songs of the Summer'!!!

From there I will reveal the songs for your listening pleasure and you'll have about 10 days to send me your votes (maybe longer depends on what CLT have to say when the ball gets rolling!). This will go up on June 22nd before I jet off to Iceland on the 23rd for a long weekend.

I've gone for a Latin popstar! I went for the Spanish version as I feel the English one might be a bit TOO "cheap" and get vetoed. Hopefully this will be allowed because it doesn't matter if it's in English or Spanish due to being an all out bop either way.

I've got a really obscure pop song from 1983 in mind,but checking the OCC site,I see it spent one week at no.98. I would be amazed if anyone here knew the song or the artist. It doesn't sound dated at all and I think some of you will like it. Is there any leeway on the no top 100 hits rule?

This is interesting. Unfortunately I have no idea what may've hit the top 20 in another contest as I don't follow them all. Still I may submit one anyway and just wing it.

Literally just found something that I don't think is cheap, since my first entry got vetoed the other day (Prince Royce feat. J. Lo & Pitbull - Back It Up (Spanish Version) - but then I enquired about the J. Lo-less Spanish version)

Everything else that came to my mind were actual chart hits and/or the artist was too cheap to send, if Prince Royce got vetoed </3

I'm not arguing with that veto btw. I completely get it.

Just thought I'd try my luck with the Spanish versions as opposed to the more popular English version ;D
