2017 WEEK 49 (December 3rd to December 9th)

Euge Groove grooves on to #1, Zaz makes a comeback, and Gregorian chants??

Euge Groove smashes to #1 with "Euge One-Oh-One" off his most recent album, Groove On. This marks Euge Groove's 2nd smash on my charts; back in the days of Daily Charts, "Still Euge" was a #2 hit at the tail end of July 2016!

Zaz's "La complainte de la butte" recharts at #2, tying Lorde's Perfect Places for the highest re-entry on the Weeklies. This also marks the French cover song's 10th week on the charts, having started its charting run all the way back in February of this year, but making a few re-appearances since then. The song actually tied "Euge One-Oh-One" for the #1 with 8 scrobbles, but the newer song was the one to break the tie.

Dan Gibson's Solitudes smashes to #3 with "Introit", a relaxation track prominently featuring Gregorian chants. This marks Dan Gibson's Solitudes' highest peaking song on the Weeklies. The relaxation music act was able to notch several hits in the Daily charts however; "Mokupuni Lapa'au" was their biggest by far, notching 26 days in the charts across the first 3 months of 2015.

Generic CAW's "A Heart" featuring Mario Hack Let's Player raocow makes a slight move 5-4, as other tracks from the raocow music playlist make a tumble lower in the charts. Taylor Swift's "...Ready For It?" surges 25-5, marking yet another Top 10 hit for the pop star.

Quebec artist Marie-Mai debuts "C.O.B.R.A." at #6, marking the popular artist's first song to chart in my charts ever. Furthermore, this is the first Quebec francophone song to hit the Top 10 since Les soeurs Boulay's hit "Fais-moi un show de boucane", which peaked at #2 on Week 33 (August 13th - August 19th). And another win for francophone artists comes with Zaz's newest "single" on my charts: "Tous les cris les SOS", a cover which made a lofty debut at #7. This is the first new song from Zaz since "Eblouie par la nuit" smashed in September-October 2017.

Bjork's "Joga" fell 2-8 off its debut last week, while Taylor Swift's "State of Grace" holds steady as it makes a slight move up 10-9, holding a 14th week in the Top 10 and extending the record yet more. Furthermore, the song is also tied for the longest run in the Top 50 overall with its 18th week. The other tie? Another Taylor Swift song: "This Love", which while not nearly as successful, has held strong in the lower regions of the Top 50.

And to round up the Top 10, "Meant To Be" by Two Steps From Hell makes a surge off its return last week 29-10. This marks the song's 5th week in the Top 50, and its 4th in the Top 10. The song had a tragically short run in the Weekly charts in February 2017, given that I hadn't officially switched to a weekly format yet, meaning songs back then had a much shorter lifespan. However, the song's recharting is correcting the mistake. tongue.gif
