This is Not A Drill: Madonna’s New Single “Give Me All Your Love” to Feature M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj

QUOTE
From JustJared:

Madonna will perform her new single “Give Me All Your Love” at Super Bowl XLVI on February 5, 2012 held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. JustJared.com can confirm that the catchy new tune, produced by Martin Solveig (”Hello“), is off of Madonna’s forthcoming 12th studio album.

M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj will make guest appearance during Madonna’s performance, which will feature all sorts of cheerleading tumbles, dances, and jumps.

It's official confirmed on Nicki Minaj's official site

I'm only interested in Nicki's part. Madge and M.I.A. could just do one for all I care haha. Produced by Martin Sloveig? Hopefully it's something just as good as 'Hello'!

I'm ridiculously excited to hear it because of Nicki and M.I.A., but getting a Nicki feature probably isn't exactly going to make people happy after the claims of bandwagon-jumping when working with Timbaland et al before...

There is a thread for the album and I don't see the point in having a topic for the single when it isn't gonna be heard for a good few months yet.

This old witch has really jumped the shark.

Excited to hear Nicki's contribution, but I don't like M.I.A. or Madonna (Post 1990). If Martin Solveig is involved, does that mean it's gonna be some club shit??? Hope not!!! I also hope she doesn't wear a leotard in the video and get a camel toe haha! The 'Hung Up' video makes me want to vomit and the song itself didn't make up for it, it never really was though sampling Gimme Gimme Gimme, I've loved that song since I can remember lol!!! laugh.gif Why can't she go back to making good music? Instead of generic trash. I used to be such a fan of her when I was really young, now I'm just tired of her.

Posted by: Rooney 28th October 2011, 02:02 PM

Why announce it four months in advance? It's not like she's really that relevant anymore that everyone is deadly excited lol

A lot of great artists within the music industry peak quite early on in their careers at least on a creative basis, and then they become slowly less impressive and you start to wonder how it is that they're actually getting worse with age and experience. Madonna is no different from many others on that basis.

Posted by: Tom *.* Kay 28th October 2011, 02:37 PM

I disagree totally, Madge can still come up with amazing music if she wants, the Confessions On A Dance Floor album was fantastic (apart from I Love New York and I grew to love that too). Excited to hear about the comeback, though I really hope there's a version WITHOUT Nikki (M.I.A. can stay).

Posted by: Jark 28th October 2011, 02:41 PM

I absolutely love Confessions but being realistic it was (-A) five years ago now and since then she's not done a thing to suggest that we'll be getting another record of that quality and (-B) not anything original or inventive musically. It didn't MATTER because it was still an amazing dance record but she did used to push the boat out in terms of originality, something she hasn't done now since at least 2003 or arguably 1998 which is what my argument was. Many artists peak creatively early on in their careers. You can't deny that she hasn't come out with a single original sounding song in years and years now and clearly isn't about to what with collabing with Solveig/Minaj/whoever else is 'in' at the moment.

Posted by: J*hnkilometre 28th October 2011, 02:45 PM

The fact Madonna hit her peak 16 years into her career suggests she's a little different to others. Even if you count Like A Prayer/The Immaculate Collection as her peak (it certainly was commercially, but I don't think it was creatively) then that's still 8 years into her career, which is longer than most careers in general, let alone hitting their peak.

This project is just a continuation of her slide into desperation though, Hard Candy was one thing, but NICKI MINAJ and MIA is really a step too far.

Posted by: Umi 28th October 2011, 03:26 PM

I was going to make a fairly long and extremely negative post about this but to be honest I'm just happy there's no Pitbull in sight. Oh, Madonna. What happened to you.

Posted by: FM11 28th October 2011, 03:48 PM

Sounds like it could be a mixed bag of some sort, either a good thing or a bad thing. And I agree with Rooney, 4 months in advance?

Posted by: Eyes 28th October 2011, 05:06 PM

Say what you will, but M.I.A and Nicki are really interesting, and it could do Madge some good to collaborate with them. I've never found her hugely interesting anyway (DON'T LYNCH ME, JOHN, I'M SORRY!!!) and I'd like to hear this.

Posted by: Jark 28th October 2011, 05:09 PM

It's not about whether they're 'interesting'. People are groaning because it's obviously just a desperate stab at relevance.

Posted by: Atonement 28th October 2011, 05:09 PM

I already mentioned it in the Madonna forum but I really think M.I.A. and especially Madonna can do better than Nicki Minaj.
Anyway, this must be one of the weirdest collabs ever, I still can't picture Madonna as the horny bitch she was during the Hard Candy album.

Posted by: J*hnkilometre 28th October 2011, 05:20 PM

I'M moaning for 2 reasons: I HATE MIA and I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE Nicki Minaj. That and the whole thing is clearly drenched in desperation.

Posted by: Eric_Blob 28th October 2011, 09:31 PM

This is surely less weird than when she collabed with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake and sang on a hip hop beat (at least to me)? This will probably just be a pop song with a couple of rap verses on (like Give Me Everything, Party Rock Anthem, On the Floor, etc, but hopefully better). Apart from the rapping, I doubt this is going to be much different from the songs she did a few years ago like Sorry and Hung Up. And I'm sure there'll be a Madonna-solo version (and if not, Heart FM will make one for us by summer 2012 anyway laugh.gif).

Posted by: Liаm 28th October 2011, 09:41 PM

She sold out anyway on 4 Minutes, I expect this will sound just as 'unMadonna' as that did. But you know what, I actually liked it (a lot), and same goes for Hard Candy. I expect the song will be good, it's just a shame she's gotten so desperate she has Nicki Minaj (much as I love her) on board.... But hey, as said last page at least she's gone one better than J-Lo and she's doing it sans Pitbull!

Posted by: Jark 28th October 2011, 09:44 PM

The thing is pop songs with tacked on rap verses tend to be very generic indeed. Anyway 4 Minutes was pure pop! Just generic pop which was chasing a trend that had passed two years earlier...

I really do hope so, because the thought of having to actively HATE a Madonna single is just not something I can comfortably conceive doing. I mean I supported REVULVA at the time, so my looning can go FAR. Just not Generic chav dance (with even worse rapped verses) hell far.

And by and large shit. Or if the rap is added as an afterthought it usually detracts from the song (see The Saturday's Higher).

Posted by: Liаm 28th October 2011, 09:50 PM

I really don't think it's possible for MADONNA to stoop quite as low as producing anything even half as revolting as bloody Party Rock Anthem. I really doubt she'll do a NatBass and return with a generic mess (I do like All We Have though blush.gif), it'll be generic but as it's Madonna it just can't be totally awful enough to rival LMFAO. That idea just isn't even conceivable to me.

Oh and ftr I shamlessly LOVE Revolver. Of course it doesn't touch my Madge top 10 (or even 20 tbh) but it's great.

Posted by: Jark 28th October 2011, 10:03 PM

Party Rock Anthem is great for what it is! And certainly a considerably better song than that tuneless shit about Madonna's homicidal fanny.

Posted by: Eric_Blob 28th October 2011, 10:40 PM

As someone who didn't really care about Madonna selling out, or following of-the-moment trends, I thought 4 Minutes was AMAZING. But I fully understand that's not the type of music Madonna's fan base fell in love with when they became fans of her. laugh.gif

It could've been worse though. I remember this faster version of the song that leaked before the proper version was released. Madonna sounded like Kylie Minogue on helium, and Timbaland's percussion noises were all over the place. drama.gif That was HORRIFIC.

Posted by: Oricon 28th October 2011, 11:47 PM

I just hope Madonna's new album has a track that features Lady Gaga or Britney Spears tongue.gif

I do look forward to the new track though wub.gif

Posted by: slowdown73 29th October 2011, 12:06 PM

I can't stand Nicki Minaj and don't care much for M.I.A. neither. I cannot believe someone as credible as Madonna has jumped on the band wagon again (after her worst album, Hard Candy) and worked with these people.

Supposed lyrics snippets from MadonnaTribe's forums (verses in no particular order):

QUOTE
Give me all your lovin'
Give me your love
Give me all your love today
Give me all your lovin'
Give me your love
Let's forget about time
And dance our hearts away

Don't play the stupid game
Cuz I'm a different kind of girl
Every record sounds the same
You've got to step into my world

You have all the L-U-V
I gave you everything you need
Now it's up to Y-O-U
Are you the one, shall we proceed

Posted by: *Ben* 1st November 2011, 10:31 AM

MMM: Madge, MIA, Minaj

Well I don't want to make any comments before I can hear the song but I hope she doesn't copy the pop music of 2011, she needs to do something unique like Ray Of Light, Music, American Life etc.

Posted by: Liаm 1st November 2011, 04:30 PM

I don't know why, from those lyrics I imagine it will be an American Life-esque 'rap'... Sung chorus.

The spoken word section is every shade of shite known to man, but the rest of it is perfectly fine and catchy, if totally throwaway. I imagine a Nicki rap/MIA section would be CATASTROPHICALLY bad though.

Posted by: Silver Rocket 8th November 2011, 09:36 PM

Posted by: J*hnkilometre 9th November 2011, 03:44 PM

It wouldn't surprise me at all if this is a Candy Shop/Beat Goes On style leak, they both leaked in mid/late 07 and were supposedly singles, yet by the time the album came it was 4 Minutes that was lead single. So yeah we shall see.

Posted by: Liаm 9th November 2011, 05:28 PM

I thought with the clip it would be much better, but I'm quite disappointed. It's fine and it's good, but it's not comeback single material for someone like Madonna... Fingers crossed it is just a B-Side or random leak or something.

it's official Nicki M will NOT be on M's new album

Posted by: Shoat 12th November 2011, 01:40 AM

Well THANK THE LORD.

I know Nicki Minaj has the internet gays a-drooling, but let's face it, a collaboration with her isn't going to do ANYTHING to restore Madonna's credibility.

For the last few years she's become EMBARRASINGLY desperate to latch onto the latest passing fad (and usually manages to do so two years too late). She grabs Timbaland and the Neptunes for Hard Candy, years after they've peaked. She grabs David Guetta a year too late to fart out a truly TERRIBLE GH tack-on. And then she's chasing after Nicki Minaj, as well as Martin Solveig and MIA. No doubt next year she'll be thrusting her vagina at Rizzle Kicks, or camping out in her leotard on the doorstep of Pitbull's home. She's like the obnoxious aunt who gets horribly drunk at a family party and spends her entire time trying to "get down with the kids" on the dancefloor and pinching the bums of the younger males.

The problem is that for years she was a pop trendsetter, and now she's merely a pop trend chaser, eating at the scraps left behind by everyone else. There's NOTHING new or exciting about a Nicki Minaj collaboration because we've already had HUNDREDS of "feat. Nicki Minaj" appearances in the chart in the last 12 months alone. Who HASN'T collaborated with her?

Posted by: C H A R L I E ? 12th November 2011, 01:55 AM

The trouble is, what does a slightly masculine pop icon do once she's hit 50 and made so much money she could have a shower curtain made of dodo skin? Whatever the hell she wants I'd imagine, so I'm inclined to believe that she collaborates with these artists because she enjoys their music and wants to be a part of it rather than thinking OMG I NEED TO SELL MORE RECORDS I'LL CALL UP WHOEVER'S #1 ATM. Maybe just me being optimistic.

Oh, and I haven't heard the clip but the lyrics make it sound like it could be (and would be infinitely better for being) a ZZ Top cover.

Posted by: Shoat 12th November 2011, 02:34 AM

I'd LIKE to believe that, but I don't think Madonna's ever really been one of those artists who just chucks out album after album purely for the love of it, and genuinely doesn't care whether it hits #1 or #104. She's a commercial machine.

And sadly I have a vivid image of her just looking down at Lourdes and telling her to look up "who's number one on this I-Tunes thingybob".

The OCC posted this a couple of days ago:

QUOTE
Madonna has apparently enlisted the help of Nicki Minaj and MIA for her upcoming single, ‘Give Me All Your Love’.

The news was revealed on MIA’s twitter on Saturday (November 26) where the London-born rapper revealed she had been “summoned to [New York]by Madonna and Nicki Minaj”.

‘Give Me All Your Love’ is expected to be the first track to be released from Madonna’s forthcoming 12th studio album and will be the singer’s first new material since parting ways with long-term record company Warner Bros.. A demo version of the track leaked online earlier this month.

"The plan was for new music to come out in the New Year," said her manager Guy Oseary in an official statement. "We are asking that the fans please help us police any more leaks. We have a lot in store for you, but please respect the process."

The as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2008’s ‘Hard Candy’ is expected to be released next February.

"I love M.I.A and Nicki Minaj. Them ladies are AH- MAY- ZING-K! pure talent & pure beauty!"
"@NICKIMINAJ HAPPY BIRTHDAY beautiful girl! You are AH-MAY-ZINK! Loved working with you! You killed it!"

From what DrownedMadonna Team heard from the video shooting of Madonna's new single Give Me All Your Love, Nicky Minaj opens the song, while M.I.A. comes on during the second verse. This is how the final Give Me All Your Love should be, or at least the video version.

M.I.A.: 'Madonna is a legend! We had a threesome M.N.M.'

"Madonna killed it! A legend!" M.I.A. tweeted to Megaforce a few hours ago on Twitter. "Said she'd have me, I said I'll have her too, we had a 3sum M.N.M. MEGAFORCE thanku." She is referring to Madonna, Nicky and herself, who are currently filming the music video for Give Me All Your Love directed by Megaforce.

And the French collective replied to M.I.A., "yeah and you killed it too!"

From Digital Spy:

QUOTE
Madonna has confirmed plans to release her new single at the beginning of 2012.

The singer will officially release 'Gimme All Your Luvin' during the last week of January, ahead of her upcoming Super Bowl half-time appearance on February 5.

Madonna's 12th studio album has also been completed and is currently slated to be released in late March through Interscope Records.

The star has signed a three-album deal with the Universal-owned company, which has Lady GaGa and 50 Cent on its books.

The new deal has been described as "one component of a very broad plan developed by long-time manager Guy Oseary and Live Nation Entertainment" by the performer's spokesperson.

Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine said: "Very rarely does an opportunity like this come around. We would like to thank Madonna, Guy and Live Nation for their belief in us."

Madonna's upcoming single leaked online early this year under the title 'Give Me All Your Love'. The final version will include features from Nicki Minaj and MIA.

To date, Madonna has sold over 300 million record worldwide and is a nine-time Grammy winner.

Not long till we hear the proper version then biggrin.gif

It ahs an excellent chance of going number 1!!!

Kylie has had a number 1 album in 4 decades!

Posted by: Ryan741 2nd February 2012, 04:20 PM

I don't think GMAYL will get #1 - probably just top 10, it may peak higher later though but I can't see it going #1 (it has less hype than Britney I think in the UK) smile.gif

Posted by: Nick F1 2nd February 2012, 05:18 PM

It's out on Itunes Japan, should leak soon then!

Posted by: SweetCandy 2nd February 2012, 05:57 PM

Singles wise, Cliff Richard had #1's in the 1950's , 60's 70's,80's and 90's.

Kylie has only had #1 albums in the 80's, 90's , 00's and 10's (atm she only seems to get a #1 album here every nine years).

Posted by: Nick F1 2nd February 2012, 06:44 PM

I smell no.1 in USA, they have HUGE promo deal (Same as Born This Way)

Madonna's latest single, Give Me All Your Luvin' will not only be spinning every hour on the hour on Clear Channel radio stations across the United States, but its video will premiere on every Clear Channel Play Screen. With more than 1000 screens in over 100 commercial sites, the deal includes a repeated screening on a 66 square meter screen in Paris, the "most spectacular in all of Europe."

As for airplay in the US, an extensive list of radio stations that will be spinning the song at the top of every hour is available in part through Interscope's tweets on Twitter. Major stations confirmed include KIIS-FM, which will spin the song at least once per hour beginning at 6AM PST tomorrow.

I'm thinking that it will debut just outside or maybe just inside the top 10 in the UK on Sunday, and then climb to top 5 the week after.

It does look like a US number 1 though with all that promo ohmy.gif Competition is tough though, Kelly Clarkson isn't giving up her iTunes lead, but David Guetta/Nicki Minaj are challenging, plus Adele is still high enough that she will be able to challenge with airplay - Madonna should get a top 10 debut and eventually number 1 though I'd say.

I love Nicki (sometimes) but her part is almost unlistenable. Quite the travesty. The song is not especially appealing really but it's all been designed especially for this Superbowl performance right down to the chanting so I can get past that.

I hope that there's better to come from her.

Posted by: Atonement 3rd February 2012, 04:07 PM

This is incredibly bad, I'm talking about the song. The vid is OK. She looks more like Dolly Parton than Marilyn Monroe with that wig on though.
And somehow it feels weird seeing M.I.A. as a cheerleader.

Posted by: gooddelta 3rd February 2012, 04:20 PM

Loving it, much more accomplished than the demo with the Nicki/M.I.A. features and obviously in HQ. An excellent comeback single, instantly addictive, relevant and current but not particularly chasing trends like 4 Minutes was. This single, the single and album artwork, album song titles, the album title itself and video seem to suggest that this is going to be an excellent era.

Sounds like it will be her first out and out pop album for ages (I feel like she probably could have done this album in 1999 though, working with the similar sounding Beautiful Stranger as a base) and it's what she needed after the awful Hard Candy era. I just hope the album lives up to the hype, if it does then she'll have once again proven why she can never be written off.

A poster at ukmix has emailed the OCC and received a reply which confirms the track will be ineligible for the singles chart

Their reply is:

According to the chart rules, if the track is being made available as an instant grat for purchasing the album, it will be ineligible for the Official Singles Chart until the album is released (see Section 7 of the Official Albums Chart Rules and Official Singles Chart Rules PDFs below).

http://c0903002.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspacecl...chart-rules.pdf

http://c0903002.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspacecl...chart-rules.pdf

This will be the case with Give Me All Your Luvin’ as it was with Coldplay’s Paradise.

Such a pointless and shit rule... I can't believe iTunes really can't diffrentiate between pre-order purchases that add on the song, and genuine purchases of solely the song, but there you go sad.gif

Posted by: JohnMK 3rd February 2012, 05:02 PM

HATE HATE HATE that chart rule!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the video, she looks amazing and it's so much fun and clearly very tongue in cheek.

LIKE the song at this point, the Nicki rap is utter shit, but it's infectious.

Posted by: Jáhq 3rd February 2012, 05:08 PM

Not amazing and I'm not keen on the chat but it's pretty good and catchy. Really like Nicki's verse even though it seems out of place.

That chart rule is complete and utter shit though. I was looking forward to hearing it on the chart show just two days after release a la 'Born This Way' (although not quite as high)

Posted by: ¿ CHARLIE ? 3rd February 2012, 05:10 PM

It's nowhere near as cheesy as I was expecting although it's sufficiently fun and tongue-in-cheek enough not to sound too serious. Quite like although on first listen the chorus isn't as instant as her last few lead singles (barring "Celebration" obviously).

Posted by: vibe 3rd February 2012, 05:23 PM

It would be alot higher in the i-tunes chart but many people will just be pre-ordering the album!

After three listens, I am hooked - Nicki is my highlight, and I like how she comes in instead of an extra chorus (which I can see get annoying). It's a nice comeback from Madonna though; it's obviously supposed to be a load of fun, and that is what it is, along with the video.

I actually LOVE it! The chorus isn't the strongest, granted, but the song just works and it's ridiculously catchy! Not generic either which could work to its advantage.

I have to say, I like the video a lot more than the song. Pretty epic as far as a good old fun pop video goes. My faith in her (at least for the time being) is restored, if the album's good I'll forgive her for Hard Candy (well, perhaps...).

How ironic, Madonna always does so well in the UK but this time round the first single hasn't got off to the best start. It would have been great to have a top ten hit in both US & UK. Is there going to be opportunity for the single to recover? Why is Radio 1 not playing the song? I have emailed them but no developments as yet. Is Madonna going to be doing any PR I'm the UK.
With regards to GAYL it's not too bad, I quite like it. However Masterpiece is a great Madonna song, so I'm optimistic MDNA will be fine. Shall we all try and get Radio 1 and other stations Local to us to play Madonna's track. I'm really disappointed Live Nation seem to have really messed up in the UK, Madonnas biggest market.

Posted by: SweetCandy 12th February 2012, 04:47 PM

#37 on the UK Singles chart her 69th top 40 single!

Posted by: liamk97 12th February 2012, 04:52 PM

When is she next in the UK to promote?

Posted by: SweetCandy 12th February 2012, 05:08 PM

I doubt she will be promoting anything in the UK until mid late march when MDNA is coming out.

I'm not too fussed about this song it just seems like a promo song for the superbowl a tad like Hey You & Live Earth for me.

Posted by: Liаm 12th February 2012, 05:21 PM

I'm not sure if this would be a good thing to do or not, but I'd not mind if she just sent Girls Gone Wild to radio in the UK as a held back single to be released the week before MDNA, and leave GMAYL as a 'buzz single'. Beyonce did similar and did well, I think with time to build GGW would do much better. Of course GMAYL may pick up in the next 2/3 weeks, but I'm not sure.

Posted by: JohnMK 12th February 2012, 05:31 PM

Even if she turns this into a 'buzz single' (ie. cover up for a flop, same as Beyonce), it's just a further blemish on her chart record. To think just 3 years ago it was 'always top 20', then 'always top 40' and now 'always top 200'.

Posted by: j₳rk 12th February 2012, 05:48 PM

Blah, she's achieved so much that I don't really care how the singles perform now. All I ask is that the albums continue to do okay.

This is true. Even if she does give it 'buzz single' treatment, it's performed only slightly better than Miles Away - an unpromoted third single :/

Yeah I suppose. Britney, Kylie and others have seen diminishing success overall, but as with Kylie I know Madonna can fall back on the album sales.

Posted by: JohnMK 12th February 2012, 06:47 PM

That is one way to look at it, but it really needn't have been this way. Miles Away, or indeed any 3rd single from Hard Candy, didn't need a release. Revolver should never have HAPPENED, let alone been a single and now GMAYL with zero promo/radio support/anything.

Posted by: vibe 12th February 2012, 07:06 PM

dont worry people if radio decides to add the track it will climb, also remember thousands of sales were lost with those that pre ordered the album!

Posted by: JohnMK 12th February 2012, 07:14 PM

It's #40 on the airplay chart with AI of 18 million, so its slightly more worrying that its performing so poorly.

Posted by: SweetCandy 12th February 2012, 07:35 PM

The download era was always going to f**k up her great singles chart runs. As with some other artists.

Posted by: liamk97 12th February 2012, 07:40 PM

#40 on Radio and #12 on TV biggrin.gif

Posted by: evansabove 12th February 2012, 10:00 PM

Madonna is never going to be a massive downloads artist i fear. MDNA should do great on physicals and lets hope we get a GMAYL physical with remixes as well

Heres the email to Radio1 should anybody be interested to do the same:

Hi Radio 1,
As a Radio 1 listener for many years I have to mail you. I see that you haven't added Madonna's new track to Radio 1's playlist. I hope that this will change and that you will add it. I speak on behalf of many Madonna fans. I've always enjoyed listening to the variety of music played by Radio 1 and would like you to consider playing "Gimme Me All Your Luvin". It's worthy, as its on par with many songs in the current UK top 40. Please support Madonna and continue to play a variety artists of a wide age range on Radio 1. Many fans would like to hear Madonna on Radio 1, they to are of a variety of ages, young to mature. Hope to hear Madonna on Radio 1 and from you soon regarding this, of which I will share with Madonna forums.
Best Wishes
Dan Hunter

ALSO DETAILS OF PHYSICAL SINGLE RELEASE DATE:

'GMAYL' 2 Track Single, release date and updates!
MadonnaTribe has an exclusive update about the upcoming CD single for Madonna's "Give Me All Your Luvin'", including some fresh info straight from Universal Music.

The release date.
As reported first on this news page yesterday, online retailers started listing a physical single for "Give Me" wilth a release date of February 24.
Yesterday we anticipated that the release is likely to be slightly pushed back.
In fact, MadonnaTribe understands that the CD pressing will start next week, making the timeframe for a February release tight.
But don't worry, we can expect the single to hit the stores on March 5th in the countries where CDs are released on Mondays.

The tracklisting.
As already reported here first the 2-track single will include the "Party Rock Remix" feat. LMFAO as its b-side.

The "2 Titres".
Although the 2-track CD single format has been a French classic for the Madonna collectors among the years in its signature "2 titres" carboard sleeve format, Polydor will not release "Give Me All Your Luvin'" as a physical single in France.

The Maxi CD.
In our report yesterday we said we were keeping our finger crossed for a remixes-filled CD Maxi. And that is it, because at the present time Interscope does NOT have a plan to release a Maxi, although they have a set of remixes ready to be serviced to clubs.

Thanks to Polydor / Interscope / Universal Music Group.

Writing to Radio 1 won't change a thing. Without wanting to sound rude you shouldn't waste your time, they won't bow to a few fans writing them emails. They do audience research which has obviously told them their audience doesn't like the song so its fate is basically sealed.

Posted by: thtr 13th February 2012, 09:41 AM

Hi JARK, thanks for the reply, as a avid fan of Madonna's she can do no wrong in my eyes or ears, so her new music is always a surprise. I've had responses in the past from Radio 1 and positive responses they've been to, so sometimes they may listen. GMAYL for me sounds stereotypically American aimed at there culture of sports and hype. I think its Madonna having a bit of fun. Masterpiece in my book is great and a worthy hit. I'm really looking forward to hearing MDNA in full. Its funny to read the varying expectations about Madonna and her music, I think everyone wants her to be the best, I always want her to be kick ass all the time and produce ROL type tracks, but saying that I wouldn't want to hear that virtually all the time smile.gif

Posted by: vibe 13th February 2012, 10:11 AM

Radio 1 didnt playlist 'moves like jagger' you can have success without their support! (it's alot harder tho).

I would love a 12 inch release too!

They playlist based on the artist and not the song.

Posted by: Liаm 13th February 2012, 05:41 PM

Even if they do reply, it's often crap. Someone on DS asked why they don't playlist Alexandra Burke, and the answer was because she 'doesn't fit in' with the audience's tastes wacko.gif Which we all know is ridiculous seeing as they avidly playlist similar artists like Rihanna, Alexis Jordan and Jessie J. They just don't support some artists, and that's it. They have supported Madonna in the past though haven't they? I remember Celebration was at least.

Posted by: Finy 13th February 2012, 05:48 PM

It would really help if she at least tried to do some promo. It's sad to see that she doesn't really care sad.gif

Posted by: vibe 13th February 2012, 07:03 PM

Yes they usually support her so it is a little strange!

Posted by: Finy 14th February 2012, 04:35 PM

Is she promoting this at all or is she just done with it?

Posted by: pippa 15th February 2012, 04:46 PM

My opinion is she now realises the song isnt going down well and she will move away from it, it hasnt really performed strong in any market which is totally out of charactor for a Madonna lead single.

Posted by: j₳rk 15th February 2012, 08:29 PM

Sold 165k downloads in the US last week (Monday-Sunday, about 265k total now). It will probably end up Gold in the end which is a pretty poor result considering the Superbowl promo. Could be top 10 on the Hot 100 though which is something.

Posted by: SweetCandy 15th February 2012, 08:40 PM

GMAYL seems to me like a promo single for the superbowl kinda like Hey You & Live Earth. I doubt she will promote anytime soon.

Posted by: j₳rk 16th February 2012, 04:09 AM

Up 13-10 on the Hot 100. That's her 38th top 10 hit. biggrin.gif

Posted by: SweetCandy 16th February 2012, 02:44 PM

That's fab news!
Madonna has more Top 10 Singles in America than any other act!!
Elvis Presley is second with 36 and The Beatles are third with 34.

Posted by: Propilot87 18th February 2012, 02:02 AM

Looks like 10 will be its peak in the US, its plummeted down to #33 on itunes now...glad it made top 10 but this its not doing well for a lead single, especially since for the past few albums her lead singles have been the only ones to do well stateside. If she's only meaning for this to be a 'buzz' single then hopefully the next single will be a bigger hit for her.

Posted by: j₳rk 18th February 2012, 03:33 AM

This is not a 'buzz' single. Never will be. It's been given the kind of treatment a proper lead single would get - $1.5m music video etc - because that's exactly what it is.

Posted by: Swagger91 21st February 2012, 12:15 AM

Do 'buzz' singles even really exist? I thought they were just products of deluded fans imaginations when their favourite singer's newest single flops (Leona comes to mind here)

Posted by: Finy 21st February 2012, 12:19 AM

The saddest thing is that it doesn't even look as though she cares sad.gif

Ah well, when you've had a career as successful as Madonna's, who's to blame her? I'm confident album sales will still be good.

Posted by: j₳rk 21st February 2012, 12:26 AM

Hopefully they won't, and it scares her into actually making some kind of effort next time...

Posted by: pippa 21st February 2012, 12:23 PM

The single has just been a total let down and its underperformance is showing that. In a sense i would love Madonna to have a huge flop with this album just to see how she would bounce back. If this album flopped i guarantee you Madonna would return with some fantastic material.

Posted by: slowdown73 21st February 2012, 02:17 PM

I've been a Madonna fan right from the beginning and have to say this is the worst single she has ever released. I'm not surprised it has flopped. I think a lot of older fans will dislike the current track due to its dated, tacky and immature sound. There will probably be some fans (particularly younger ones) who like the new sound and collaboration with Nicki Minaj, but for me its one step too far. Madonna usually sets the trends and returns with something fresh but this is like jumping on the band wagon and doing what a lot of other artists are doing (except its not even as good). Her album is likely to suffer and although it may debut at no1, it will drop quickly and be lucky to go platinum in the UK.

Posted by: Silver Rocket 21st February 2012, 02:33 PM

I think it was quite clear from her last album that Madonna doesn't "usually set trends" anymore, still I'm hopeful this album can bet better.

American Life was a flop, relatively speaking - although I think it went platinum. Its actually a very good album though but she returned with Confessions which was brilliant and still one of my favourite Madonna albums.

Hmv are selling the cd for £4.99!!!. - what a rip off but I need it.

Posted by: Johnkm 23rd February 2012, 12:05 PM

CD singles are just going to get more and more expensive as they get even less popular. If they only print 10k rather than 100k it costs much more to make them per unti so they'll obviously charge more. Tis a shame for the customer, but I'd still rather pay £5 for a cd than £2 for a digital download.

No offence mate but the same could be said for you.

Anyway, I'm surprised that this has flopped on its ass. Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. are massiiiiive, and they obviously spent quite a lot on that video - so a lot of effort was put into this song. I guess she should have spent more time promoting this than her new movie.

It might re-enter the 70, because according to Davetaylor's almost Saturday chart GMAYL was #2 in the physicals and top 70 in the chart.

Posted by: SweetCandy 24th March 2012, 02:58 PM

The digital ep never got released in the uk like the row so I can't see it hoping back in the top 75.

Hopefully I'm wrong!.

Bad news sadly, after the physical release GMAYL couldn't re-climb to the top 100 either. sad.gif

"Physical release can't secure a Top 75 return for Madonna's Give Me All Your Luvin' collaboration with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. The track, which debuted and peaked at number 37 last month, sold 1,460 copies on CD last week, to enter the CD chart at number two (JLS' Proud is number one with 6,051 sales) but the addition of just 835 digital sales place it a modest 104th overall." - MusicWeek

104 Madonna/Nicki Minaj/MIA 2,295
