Thought I'd start a new thread for Series 13 seeing as Series 12 is well behind us now (well, 8 months, but it seems like much longer )!
First piece of information that seems to have been casually announced today is that Chibnall's apparently confirmed the series will only be 8 episodes as opposed to 10! Obviously it's understandable given the situation at the moment, but I really hope even after all this we're not down to just 8-episode series'. (but in the era of Chibnall, maybe less is better? x) |

(moved my post from Series 12 thread as posted at same time oops)
Production on Series 13 has started but sadly Covid has mean the number of episodes has been cut to just 8. The series is due to air in Autumn 2021 which I believe was the original intention anyway. I doubt we’re getting a Christmas/New Year’s Day episode for 2021 as they’ve said the episodes have been cut from the ‘usual 11’. It’s sad but understandable this time round. As I said before, it’s the least Covid-friendly show so it’s a miracle that production is even starting. |

Eight episodes is disappointing but understandable in the circumstances. Doctor Who desperately needs a period of consistency following the next series - it feels like it's been all over the place since about season 9.

Surely even Chibnall can't ruin the Angels (famous last words right)

Surely even Chibnall can't ruin the Angels (famous last words right) Honestly this is my one concern with them returning. They’ve always been Moffat’s creation that appeared in Moffat’s stories. I’ll go into this with an open mind, but if he does ruin them then he can leave x |

Rumours for Jodie's replacement are Kris Marshall (Death in Paradise), Michaela Coel and Richard Ayoade, John Barrowman has thrown his support behind for Olly Alexander |

The Daily Express throws any names out there based on nothing
Richard Ayoade has no range at all from what I've seen him in, I love him as a comedian but I really hope it isn't him. (I highly doubt he'd want to do it either) A massive yes for Olly Alexander though, but it would depend if he could fit it in with Y&Y duties, who will likely be touring next year. |

The Kris Marshall rumours really need to stop, just annoying now tbh x
I feel like (and hope) a theory floating around at the moment might turn out to be true though. |

I want Kris Marshall just so the rumours of Kris Marshall can stop every time the role becomes available

The idea of having Kris Marshall just feels so wrong, its like having Peter Davison, and make the role more camp.
Olly is a big yes from me, that will be a great catch |

I struggle to imagine it being a white male, it'd be handing a whole loads of ammunition to the #notmydoctor crew who are desperate to paint Jodie as a failure. I'm all for casting the best actor regardless of gender or colour but sadly it'd be extremely undermining to Jodie to immediately revert to a white male after the first female Doctor.
The lack of confirmation for Jodie's departure is interesting, though |
