To be honest, she does sound incredibly confident in these vocals. Her headvoice at 2:30 is still, in my opinion, better than all the other girls. She just got the right tone for that kind of vocals. It's a shame we're always stuck with Vanessa's or Frankie's.

Vanessa's head voice has more power, but sounds really awful at times. I think Rochelle and Frankie's falsetto have more precision, but are less comfortable and more inconsistent( Frankie overall) with the delivery. Mollie's head voice sound less clear and doesn't sound as well as it should be just like Vanessa, but she does seem to handle it better especially since her voice is already small.

Well, clearly they have been dropped and I hardly see them telling anyone that.
However, this whole Take That bullshit started before the Greatest Hits tour, so it's really not something they say to save their faces now. Their plans were always to do solo things in the hope of bringing interest in the group like the bands they have mentionned did with their careers.
I'm not saying it will work, but I definitely think they believe it will and thus are sticking with this idea. On paper, it's not stupid, but with The Saturdays, you just know it will fall flat on its arse.
I mean, they are free to do their solo things (in fact, they always have been) so I can understand why they see no point in disbanding especially if they don't mind coming back together to perform at the odd gigs there or to release something new one day.
I do wish they would be a bit more clear on the idea of them going solo (well, those that actually are), instead of always saying it the subtle way "We're doing our own side-projects/on our own/"my thing", etc.
Sometimes I don't get why popstars aren't more straightforward.

Right! I want to believe their solo careers will generate some interest but like you said it will probably fail. Or maybe they'll come back to a smash hit and then throw it all away. It's so sad that we have to think this way about them but that's what history tells us. Not to mention they will need a new label if they want any chance at further success. Unless they go the self-funded route which would just be embarrassing.

I don't think Mollie has a chance of generating radio support, she done a Q+A today and ignored all questions regarding the future of Sats.

I think, if she has a great team behind her, the hype will be there for the first era, but that's it. She's a decent singer, but she will easily lose credibility while miming on live TV and people will just write her off as just a pretty girl that can't sing. Shame, as she can, and well, she's clearly the second best songwriter of the group. She has musical talent.
But, as I said, if her team does the job right, I can see her generating the same radio support The Saturdays had and they'll probably promote/hype her quite a bit at the start. As always, they will probably tone it down, thinking she's already established and that's when she will just flop and get dropped.
(That pretty much works for the other four as well.)
I can't see the album being successful, but it should do better than what she's done with the group recently. First single, if it's good and she does gets the same support, will probably do well. I can see a low top 10.
Anyhow. I'm surprised this doesn't generate that much discussion. I know this is "a rumour" and that Mollie is hardly everyone's favorite, but that seems to point out to a long-ass break, potential confirmation of the group being dropped, new music potentially coming soon as well (from Mollie), etc. This is news, guys. But anyway.

I think I'd be more excited about it if it was actually confirmed. I have no idea how reliable that Twitter account is. If it is in fact true then that is a huge deal and tells us a lot about the immediate future of the group! Of course I'd like for them to get back together, but I'll take solo material over nothing any day.
I think she'll either do really well or flop miserably, most likely the latter. If pop was more in demand right now I could see her taking off with proper support, but unless she puts out some Tinashe-type material then I don't see it happening unfortunately. Although I'd love her to do well of course!

I understand your feelings, Zach. I usually find these sources reliable, though. Most of the time, when they get something wrong, it's more because things didn't turn out as well as they were meant to in the first place.
This could be a similar case : she's close to signing a deal, but I wouldn't be surprised if the label was still unsure a little bit. They could end up just denying her the contract and she's back to square one. Anyhow, record deal or not, she definitely is recording, there are far too many clues to that and everything the girls have said seems to point out to Mollie not recording anything Saturdays-related, so it's definitely solo music in the work.
I doubt she would do really well. I think it's more a "She hasn't flopped as much as people expected her to", but I sincerely believe she could do better than what The Saturdays have been doing lately (it's not hard you will tell me...), which ultimately is definitely better as this time she won't have to share the goodz with four other girls.
However, this talk doesn't interest me that much. Flop or not, I'm far more interested and hyped about the genre, the production and hopefully the vocals. We all know she won't be belting notes left, right and center, but I'm hoping now that there really isn't any other girls to take the hard bits, we will hear sides of her voice we don't hear often. (This applies to pretty much all the girls as well. For example, Frankie was always the one taking the high parts on pretty much everything, but now that she won't be there, how will the other girls manage to sing these bits? It's gonna be interesting to discover a bit more their voices individually. )

I'm not convinced the girls are going to return next year and if they do return I can see them releasing one more single late 2016 considering that none of their solo projects have started. It's been almost over one year since 'What Are You Waiting For'.
If any of the girls have any success with their solo projects then potential radio support will look good, I'd say Rochelle right now is single handily is providing them relevance.

some brilliant meetings with the label and we're all on the same page anout musical direction. I'm now in the studio recording. I've got lots of ideas for what I want to achieve. My first solo single will be out next year and I'm already looking forward to what 2016 has in store.'

Island is such an horrendous label, all of their artists are an absolute mess (Leona Lewis, Tove Lo etc)
It will be interesting to see if Island will allow Mollie to work with The Saturdays on Polydor? I don't think they'll ever bother to record again if I'm going to be honest. I think Vanessa might struggle to get a record deal but if Rochelle and Frankie wanted record deals there's a high chance they would get one.

They were times when they were all a mess but her.
The nice thing about going solo and Mollie writing a lot of her stuff is that she can actually make songs that are fit for her voice. Most of The Saturdays songs weren't even made for their strongest vocalists (Vanessa and Rochelle), so let alone Mollie which would get the short end of the stick most of the time.
Anyhow!
That's an amazing producer to work with. Surprised she snatched them, but then she does have a major label backing.

I know you are babe, but I still think it's a valid point. Based on talent alone, Vanessa should be the one to look forward to, but God, she's working with minus Z-list producers at this point, it's so boring. I mean, get Ina to write a more or less RnB track at least, or something, you know?!
Whereas Mollie truly seems to be giving everything to make up for her short comings (lack of amazing vocals, etc.) as well as putting together a decent team of producers in the hope of building some hype. I just wish Vanessa would/could do the same (I know, having a good label helps too).

It's pretty crazy, isn't it? But so well deserved. Had all of the girls been as devoted as she was I believe they could've accomplished so much more as a group. Like I said in another thread, I do think the other girls held her back in a sense. For Frankie, Rochelle, and Una, starting a family became the main focus and I don't think Vanessa ever really loved their music or image. Mollie's the only one who seemed totally committed from start to finish. I think this will carry over into her solo career. Her drive is admirable and like Hurricane said, her extra efforts will help to make up for any shortcomings.
Yeah, I'm anxious to see if she has any writing credits on the album and if so how many.

So the rumour is, for now she has a single-deal, meaning the label will put up a budget for the first single - if that does well, a 360-full-on deal will be up and an album will follow. If it doesn't, everything will be scrapped and sold to other artists.
I believe Mollie has co-written a lot this past year. If that's true, then she can still salvage things a little bit if she flops by selling these songs and getting coins for her writing credits.
It does seem, however, like she wants to release an album so it will be interesting to see if she ever goes to the indie route if things doesn't end up well.

So she changed her location on Twitter from "Island Records" to "Fascination Management", so it's not unreasonable to assume she's been dropped.
I wouldn't expect any music anytime soon. The whole Radio 1 affair sounds like a rebranding kinda move (as a radio, possibly TV, figure), rather than her trying to create a better relationship with Radio 1 for her future releases.
Still think she seems very motivated by the whole pop music idea, and we know she's been writing and recording a lot of music throughout the last months rather than just sitting on her bum, so I think she might try and look for someone that may give her another go at it, but yeah otherwise I wouldn't expect anything more at this point.

I still get the impression that 'Back To You' could have been a decent sized top 20 hit had Island bothered to promote the single and put payola on Spotify. I'm actually disappointed that Mollie's no longer with Island Records but at the same time she said last month the album was almost finished and it was almost a full Xenomania album? As much as she wanted to make it as a singer she’s still had solo success as in on her own in the industry doing a variety of things. There isn’t any doubt over Una being most successful musically as the only one to release a full length album, features and sign with a record with follow up music or endorsements. If you were to ask anybody to say who Mollie was I think she’s one of the names that would stand out.

It's pleasing to see her do so well presenting with Matt on Radio 1 and to be happy with that but...the thought of her not doing anything performing wise with music anymore and feeling a bit out of love with it because of how her solo career didn't take off makes me a bit sad.

No stranger to performing, Mollie King has been one fifth of the multi-platinum-selling girl band The Saturdays since 2007, with the group selling more than five million records worldwide, scoring 13 Top 10 singles and five Top 10 albums. She was also a Strictly Come Dancing 2017 contestant, and more recently became a BBC Radio 1 DJ, co-hosting the BBC Radio 1 weekend breakfast show with Matt Edmondson.
DJ, producer, and broadcaster Marvin Humes has experienced staggering success over his 14-year career. As well as being part of boy band JLS and achieving chart success he’s also a successful DJ, playing sets in Ibiza, performing in Vegas and hosting his own show on Capital FM, where he interviews some of the biggest names in the music industry.
Eurovision super-fan Rylan Clark-Neal joined the Eurovision family last year after impressing fans with his in-depth knowledge and love for the contest, both as co-host of BBC Four’s Eurovision semi-final coverage in Lisbon and guest judge on BBC Two’s Eurovision: You Decide 2018. He also recently took over Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 Saturday show.
Mollie King says: “I’m so excited to be part of the judging panel for Eurovision: You Decide this year. Eurovision is a huge event in the music calendar every year so it’s a real honour to have a say, alongside Marvin and Rylan, in which song and which artist has the all-important job of representing the UK this year in Tel Aviv – I wish them all the best of luck!”
Marvin Humes says: “I have so many great memories of watching Eurovision from growing up, so being able to help decide who will represent the United Kingdom this year is very exciting! I know what it feels like to perform live for the public and a judging panel so hopefully I can bring that experience on the night.”
Rylan Clark-Neal says: “I’m so excited to be back on the judging panel for Eurovision: You Decide and back in the Eurovision family! I’ve been a life-long fan and take it very seriously so it’s a real honour to help the public decide who we choose to send to the main contest in May. I think it will be really interesting as well to see how the different acts perform the different versions of the songs.”
Eurovision: You Decide, hosted by Mel Giedroyc and Måns Zelmerlöw, will air on Friday 8 February on BBC Two at 7.30pm. It is a co-commission between BBC Entertainment and BBC Music. The Executive Producer for BBC Studios is Mel Balac and the Series Producer is Lee Smithurst. The Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Rachel Ashdown.

And it really hasn't, has it? Even now when it gets played on the radio it still sounds fresh. I reckon had they not messed around with the release schedule for that they'd have number one easily.
