I'm surprised Morrissey is struggling to break 10k when his last album opened with 26k, including nearly 7k from vinyl.

To be fair this one is a covers album, which generally don't do as well for artists.

I think Morrissey becoming widely known for being a far-right sympathiser since his last album could have had an effect, I know people who have jettisoned him because of it.

The battle for Number 1 in the singles is very close, it could go either way.
Spice Girls improving in each update.

He's had the same views in the media for years though.

I feel sorry for Johnny Marr in terms of The Smiths' legacy.

I think him having far right views has become more known in recent years however, to the point where he's almost more known for his far right support than his music now. I imagine a few of his fans would've been put off by those though I suspect his new album would've sold less than his previous regardless due to the climate / it being covers.

I agree, but I don't think he'll ever be more well known for his far-right support than The Smiths tbh.

Hopefully the Spice Girls continue to climb through this week and the next two weeks to be top 10 come those big Wembley dates.

Rocket Man will likely see big increases over the coming weeks and be a very steady seller for the remainder of the year.

It'll be a steady seller for a few weeks but it suffers from having much fewer streaming sales due to the soundtrack not being actual Elton John recordings but rather cover versions by actor Taron Egerton. It won't sell in the way that the Bohemian Rhapsody OST by Queen has sold where the featured tracks are all by Queen. The OST by Queen is attracting streaming sales in a way the Rocketman OST won't do. Instead streams are mainly going to 'Diamonds' by Elton.

Tagon Egerton sings well but doesn't hit any of the high notes like Elton
so all songs sounds very well
agree this will benefit Elton's Greatest Hits more than this soundtrack

I feel sorry for Johnny Marr in terms of The Smiths' legacy.

In the last couple years Johnny Marr seems to have gained a higher profile as he is increasingly seen as the one it's still acceptable to like.

Is Kiki Dee a new release? Or is it benefiting from Rocketman?
