Hello, all! It's been 84 years!! After a 900 year delay, we've finally reached the final results cheer.gif

60 songs battled it out and everything is counted up. There are some big changes from last year, what do you think is rising big or falling fast? Who do you want to win?

Usually we've done results alongside a Plug DJ session. However over the next week I'm not available I don't think to run this and I want to get these results out of the way ASAP. If someone posts in this thread that they want to host a Plug DJ session for the results over the next week, I'll PM you the results and you can do that and I'll try and attend and posts results simultaneous with the plug session or just after. If no one volunteers by this Sunday then I'm just starting results here next week

Thanks <3

Will you still love me, when I'm no longer young and beautiful?

60. +58 Charli XCX - Boom Clap (Fault In Our Stars) (18-38-30-60)
59. +60 The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar - Pray For Me (Black Panther) (59)
58. +62 Lorde- Yellow Flicker Beat (Mockingjay Part 1) (31-51-70-58)
57. +62 (More 19's) En Vogue - Don't Let Go (Set It Off) (57)
56. +64 Christina Perri- A Thousand Years (Twilight) (11-8-28-56)
55. +65 Vanessa Hudgens ft Zac Efron- Gotta Go My Own Way (High School Musical 2) (91-28-111-55)
54. +67 Taylor Swift- Safe And Sound (The Hunger Games) (99-30-89-54)
53. +70 Dexy’s Midnight Runners – Come On Eileen (Get Him To The Greek) (65-109-54-53)
52. +70 (More 25's) Linkin Park - What I've Done (Transformers) (52)
51. +73 Lana Del Rey- Young And Beautiful (The Great Gatsby) (43-45-27-51)

In conclusion, y'all trash. Six songs here deserved WAY better.

Charli is this year random plummeter, with Boom Clap always finishing top 40 this time but this year coming rock bottom. It's not my fave song in the countdown but it def deserved way better than this sad.gif Also plummeting this year is Christina's stunning A Thousand Years which has been on a big downward spiral since hitting top 10 two years ago!
New entries in this section come from Pray For Me (I can't see this doing as well again), Don't Let Go (LM's version>>>>>>) and What I've Done, none of which I've really got much to say about haha
Anyhoo Lorde rebounds back into the final for a 3rd appearance but still hasn't come anywhere near close her first year peak sad.gif
Gotta Go My Own Way & Safe And Sound's runs are scarily similar with the run of semi's-final etc, peaking in the same year, and now they're next to each other! Both deserved way better, GGMOW is an HSM franchise highlight and Safe & Sound is my 2nd fave song in the entire countdown, one of Taylor's best and an absolute stunning ballad heart.gif
Come On Eileen is meh and sneaks a new peak this year ew.
And after peaking last year, one of Lana's magnum opuses plummets to a new low sad.gif

Come On Eileen is the best of those ten. I've just listened to the Taylor Swift song. Yes,it's quite good.

What if we rewrite the stars? Say you were made to be mine.

50. +74 Kristen Bell – Do You Want To Build A Snowman (Frozen) (89-69-46-50)
49. +77 Zac Efron & Zendaya - Rewrite The Stars (The Greatest Showman) (49)
48. +78 Pink – Just Like Fire (Alice Through The Looking Glass) (79-79-48)
47. +79 Jennifer Hudson- And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going (Dreamgirls) (58-29-88-47)
46. +85 ZAYN & Taylor Swift - I Don't Wanna Live Forever (50 Shades Darker) (87-46)
45. +87 (Least high scores) Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles (White Chicks) (8-13-14-45)
44. +87 (More 24's) Twenty One Pilots - Heathens (Suicide Squad) (76-44)
43. +87 (More 25's) Hailee Steinfeld & Bloodpop - Capital Letters (Fifty Shades Darker) (43)
42. +88 Elton John- Can You Feel The Love Tonight (The Lion King) (17-55-83-42)
41. +89 Randy Newman – You’ve Got A Friend In Me (Toy Story) (25-62-57-41)

Five songs reach new peaks in this section!
DYWTBAS is a classic and only falls a few places from its peak last year! Hopefully it becomes a regular in the final <3
Rewrite The Stars is one of my faves from The Greatest Showman so it's fab to see score a good debut here <3
Just Like Fire finally makes a final after two stints at 79 and makes a quite good impression, this is def one I can see doing better in future years!
Like GGMOW and Safe & Sound in the last section, AIATYING has very similar trajectory's to them with v. similar peaks and also rebounding up into the final this year! This deserved better tho, an absolutely classic movie song and a stormer of a vocal <3
Another song I love at 46 and Taylor's highest song this year is from her 50 Shades Darker soundtrack song which has a big climb and makes the final for the first time. Queen <3
Vanessa plummets this year and misses the top 40 for the first ever time, let alone the top 15, thank f*** good riddance x She only just made the final so hopefully next year we can go one step further and stop this making the final.
Heathens I'm always surprised doesn't do better here considering how many of y'all stan 21P. Anyway it makes its first final this year but still kinda underperforms
A fab debut for Capital Letters and hopefully this can keep this up in the future <3 Hailee to also slay next year with Back To Life x
Elton & Randy are two Disney classics which both score their highest positions since their peaks in the first year of movie song!

But you know that you can't fight the moonlight.

40. +91 Miley Cyrus - The Climb (Hannah Montana: The Movie) (40-26-25-40)
39. +93 A.R. Rahman Ft The Pussycat Dolls And Nicole Scherzinger - Jai Ho (Slumdog Millionaire) (6-25-41-39)
38. +97 Alanis Morissette - Uninvited (City of Angels) (32-44-18-38)
37. +98 Irene Cara- Flashdance.. What A Feeling (Flashdance) (37-32-42-37)
36. +102 Berlin - Take My Breath Away (Top Gun) (24-36-47-36)
35. +103 Simple Minds - Don't You (Forget About Me) (The Breakfast Club) (35)
34. +106 Aaliyah - Try Again (Romeo Must Die) (28-22-24-34)
33. +107 LeAnn Rimes- Can't Fight The Moonlight (Coyote Ugly) (15-16-3-33)
32. +109 Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim, Mya, P!nk - Lady Marmalade (Moulin Rouge) (48-31-8-32)
31. +113 Survivor- Eye Of The Tiger (Rocky IV) (27-48-40-31)

In this section we have loads of songs returning to previous positions, including our first song in the section The Climb. Miley's beautiful ballad unfortunately returns to its previous low after peaking last year sad.gif Also returning to previous positions were Irene returning to her debut position with bop of life iconic movie song Flashdance (which peaked in year 2) and Berlin's Take My Breath Away climbing back up to 32 (after peaking in year 1)!
Jai Ho has it's first (albeit very small) climb after being a previous top 10 hit here. It's still a bop tho and goes off <3
Uninvited also falls drastically from its peak last year, quite a surprise as I'm pretty sure it slayed the previous rounds this year!
Shockingly this is the first time Don't You (FAM) has been in movie song looking at the old results. Anyway it debuts straight in at #35 and is the only song in this section to reach a new peak!! I finally saw The Breakfast Club the other week and this is such a good song *.* (tho ofc I've known it since Pitch Perfect x)
Try Again takes a stumble to its lowest position of #34 this year whilst Survivor continues to climb after re-entering the top 40 last year, only 4 places off its previous peak now! EOTT is a bop <3
And then we have two big fallers out of the top 10 oops. Can't Fight The Moonlight's fall took me by surprise as even though it usually doesn't hit the heights of nearly winning like it did last year, it's still a regular top 20 here. It's such a good song and deserved higher sad.gif Lady Marmalade also falls to its 2nd lowest position to date, with its top 10 placing last year looking like a big anomaly atm.

I may have made it rain. Please forgive me.

30. +114 (Less 25's) Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway (The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement) (10-5-9-30)
29. +114 (More 25's) The Cardigans - Lovefool (Romeo + Juliet) (50-26-29)
28. +115 Spice Girls - Too Much (Spiceworld: The Movie) (21-38-28)
27. +116 (Less 23's) John Travolta & Olivia Newton John- You're The One That I Want (Grease) (30-43-50-27)
26. +116 (More 23's) Prince - Purple Rain (Purple Rain) (56-26)
25. +117 Britney Spears- Everytime (Spring Breakers) (2-2-7-25)
24. +118 Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You (The Bodyguard) (23-24-36-24)
23. +119 (Less 22's) Blondie - Call Me (American Gigolo) (18-37-23)
22. +119 (More 22's) Beyonce - Listen (Dreamgirls) (16-3-10-22)
21. +119 (More 25's) Auli'i Cravalho - How Far I'll Go (Moana) (72-21)

Oops we also lose quite a few more from last years top 10 here and now half of 2017's top 10 is out before we even reach the top 20!!! Breakaway and former 2x runner up Everytime both plummet out of the top 10 for the first ever time whilst Listen also reaches its lowest position yet as it's never missed the top 20 before. All three are former top 5 hits and deserved way better here sad.gif
Lovefool is the only other faller in this section as it just falls short of its peak which it reached last year. I love R+J and it's a good song, albeit a lil too high for me here
Too Much and Call Me both bounce up from their 2nd year slumps but also fall short of their previous peaks by a few places
Grease classic You're The One That I Want reaches a deserving new peak after nearly doubling its position from last year and Purple Rain makes a bigger impact this time around after bombing last year. I'm still surprised Purple Rain doesn't do better
Talking of songs I'm shocked don't do better, it stuns me I Will Always Love You has NEVER reached the top 20 despite being a quintesential movie song. Anyway it nearly repeaks again this time around with a 12 place climb but its stuck at 24 for a 2nd time
And rounding of this section is one of the highest climbers of the year, Auli'i's stunning version of How Far I'll Go from Moana which records a +50 place climb! Hopefully it continues to slay in future years <3

Where's the streetwise Hercules to fight the rising odds?

20. +121 Starship - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now (Mannequin) (19-40-20-20)
19. +122 Faith Hill - There You'll Be (Pearl Harbour) (9-7-2-19)
18. +126 (Less 25's) Paul McCartney and Wings – Live And Let Die (Live And Let Die) (42-106-51-18)
17. +126 (More 25's) David Bowie - Heroes [Perks Of Being A Wallflower] (34-44-17)
16. +127 (Less 23's) Bonnie Tyler- Holding Out For A Hero (Footloose) (100-33-33-16)
15. +127 (More 23's) The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony (Cruel Intentions) (16-15)
14. +129 (Less 25's) Sia- Elastic Heart ( The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) (12-23-19-14)
13. +129 (More 25's) Keala Settle - This Is Me (The Greatest Showman) (13)
12. +136 Destiny's Child- Independent Women Part 1 (Charlie's Angels) (22-19-31-12)
11. +145 Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise (Dangerous Minds) (5-6-17-11)

Like IWALY in the last section, NGSUN misses out on a new peak for the 2nd time by one place oops. Anyway the Starship movie classic is starting to make a name for itself in its low top 20 position, a classic <3
There You'll Be is the next song to plummet out of last years top 10 oops which means only 4 songs from last year have held on!! TYB also deserved better and is a movie classic & stunning ballad, which nearly won last year! <3
A few of the older songs all rise to new peaks this year. Paul's Bond theme has never done great before here but cracks the top 40 in style this year for by far its highest position and Heroes also reaches a new peak way higher than its previous position! For The Verve however, they climb one place from last year which is enough for a new peak. All are good songs but bar L&LD, I don't rly associate the other 2 with movies too much (and I love CI/POBAW as well haha)
Bonnie Tyler's iconic classic 80's bop Holding Out For A Hero also greatly receives a massive climb this year yassss. Robbed off top 15 tho sad.gif I still bop to this song all the time.
Sia has been pretty consistent with her chart run but has still never reached the top 10! EH is good but not her best. Will next year finally be the time for this to go top 10?
The song I'm most happy about here is how much Keala's future classic This Is Me SLAYED in its first year, hopefully its a future top 10 cos its a modern movie classic and an utterly incredible song <3 <3
I'm surprised Independent Women has never gone top 10 but it comes the closest it has this year!
And ew at Gangsta's Paradise climbing, at least it missed the top 10 xx

2018's Top 10
Aerosmith - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing
Adele - Skyfall
All Saints - Pure Shores
Ben E. King - Stand By Me
Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On
Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do
Eminem - Lose Yourself
Queen Idina Menzel - Let It Go
Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

So we have last year's winner (MYWGO), three more of last year's top 10 (LIG, BR, PS), three former top 10's (LMLYD, LY, Skyfall - tho the latter even missed the final last year haha) and three new top 10's I believe!

Predict away. Finally finishing later today!!!!

FUMING at Christina Perri's descent! Buzzjack!!
Nice to see 'Gotta Go My Own Way' on the climb again though heart.gif
Strong start for 'Rewrite the Stars'. Hopefully that can climb in the next few years.
Noooo at 'A Thousand Miles' experiencing a huge fall. UGH.
Yay for the 'Heathens' climb and a great start for Hailee and 'Capital Letters'.
'Can You Feel The Love Tonight?' Deservedly reclimbing. It should be top 20 AT LEAST.
YYYYAAASSS at the 'Lady Marmalade' drop *.* BYE BITCH. Hope you never recover xxx
First time for 'Don't You Forget About Me'! Really surprised that hasn't appeared before. Surely one of THE movie songs?
Poor Kelly, but much like Britney, I don't consider these songs to be "movie songs". So I'm not too mad about them falling out. Both cracking songs though <3
Not here for that huge 'Listen' drop though. SORT YOURSELVES OUT YOU MESSY MEMBERS!!!!
I AM HERE for Auli'i smashing though! Top 10 next time plz x

'There You'll Be' continuing the tradition of BJ f***ing things up this year.
Keala's got a great debut. Hopefully a future top 3 contender!
If 'Independent Women' and 'Gangsta's Paradise' could just f*** OFF that'd be grand.

SKYFALL TO DIE AT #10 PLZ. UGH. NO THANK YOU.

WHAT I WANT:
Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On
Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do
Aerosmith - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing
Queen Idina Menzel - Let It Go
Ben E. King - Stand By Me
All Saints - Pure Shores
Eminem - Lose Yourself
Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Adele - Skyfall

This is the end. Hold your breath and count to ten.

10. +146 Adele- Skyfall (Skyfall) (7-35-86-10)
9. +161 (Less 25's) Ben E. King - Stand By Me (Stand By Me) (17-21-9)
8. +161 (More 25's) Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall (The Wall) (23-8)
7. +166 Eminem - Lose Yourself (8 Mile) (9-11-7)
6. +178 All Saints - Pure Shores (The Beach) (1-1-5-6)

Skyfall has one of the most random chart runs here. It debuted top 10, plumetted out of the top 30 in its 2nd year, completely missed the final by miles in year 3 but now somehow rebounds to the top 10!!! Anyway it's a good Bond theme but probs not anywhere near my fave in this final oops.
Stand By Me is a lovely track and I'm glad it manages to crack the top 10 once here as its done pretty well the last couple of years <3
I don't really associate Another Brick In The Wall with movies at all, can we acc start have songs related to movies smashing more again x Anyhoo it gets a 15 place climb for a new peak
Also getting a new peak unfortunately is the horrific Lose Yourself. A complete racket but in its 3 years, it has done consistently really well
And former 2x winner Pure Shores leaves the top 5 for the first ever time which means now I don't think any song has made the top 5 every year! Pure Shores remains a classic and I'm here for it returning to the top spot next year ngl <3

You are safe in my heart and my heart will go on and on.

5. +186 (Less 25's) Idina Menzel- Let It Go (Frozen) (13-4-4-5)
4. +186 (More 25's) Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do (Fifty Shades Of Grey) (3-11-13-4)
3. +202 Aerosmith - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing (Armageddon) (20-12-12-3)
2. +206 Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (Wayne's World) (6-2)
1. +238 Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On (Titanic) (4-10-1-1)

THE QUEEN FINISHES TOP 5 AGAIN cheer.gif cheer.gif cheer.gif Though Idina narrowly misses out on a third year finishing 4th by a lack of 25's (only I gave LIG +25 sad.gif ). Let It Go remains an absolute masterpiece, Idina's vocals are incredible, the lyrics are stunning and the movie scene is iconic. Can this win this year please <3
Also just missing out on its previous peak by one year is Ellie's towering 50 Shades anthem Love Me Like You Do. After winning every single round the past two years, Ellie then faltered and underperformed badly in the final but despite doing worse in the semi's this year, Ellie manages to return to the top 5! A classic and I def see this being a future winner <3
EW at that drivel climbing into the top 3. The vocals low-key hurt my ears. Anyway it's Aerosmith's first time in the top 10 here after two narrow misses!
After debuting last year Bohemian Rhapsody has a 4 place climb. After last year finally saw us have two proper movie songs in the top 2, were back to reality with this again not really being much of a movie song but making the top 2.
And that means Celine reigns as queen of the competition once again cheer.gif cheer.gif MYWGO is one of the ultimate movie ballads from an incredible film and the vocals are phenomenal *.* A masterpiece and a deserving winner! <3 Previous winner Pure Shores could only hold the crown for 2 years so will Celine be able to beat this ohmy.gif MHWGO also becomes the joint longest runner in the top 5 (alongside Let It Go & Pure Shores) and top 10 (along with Pure Shores) this year!

Thank you to everyone who commented and voted throughout this process heart.gif Sorry it took so long but obvs hospitalisation reasons meant this took way longer than we we're hoping it would do sad.gif

For movie song 2019, I am going to be unable to host this. (I will be able to help out occassionally with a couple of rounds but that's it) as I am going to be travelling a lot and I'm too busy to host something as drawn out as this. If you would like to host this years' edition (probs starting in March), please drop me or Jonjo a PM or post a comment here. Thanks.

YYYYAS thank fuuuuck Celine fought against Queen. MHWGO is probably the ultimate movie song for me. So a completely and utterly deserving winner.

Great to see Aerosmith climb so much and into the top 3 for the first time. Another song, that defines being a movie song! Both Ellie and Idina are modern day movie classics. LIG is an outstanding song and LMLYD is incredible.

Thanks for hosting Sam! biggrin.gif
