And the winner is...
LADY GAGA! Throughout the survivor Poker Face was polling the least votes of any song so perhaps this was the only result possible? What a song though! The end of the decade certainly delivered a pop classic! Final results board: WINNER: Lady Gaga - Poker Face [71.05%] 27 out of 38 votes Runner-up: Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love [28.95%] 11 out of 38 votes 03. Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love? [50.00%] 20 out of 40 votes 04. Shaggy - It Wasn't Me [35.14%] 13 out of 37 votes 05. Gnarls Barkley - Crazy [32.50%] 13 out of 40 votes 06. [41.03%] 16 out of 39 votes 09. Band Aid 20 - Do They Know It's Christmas? [41.67%] 15 out of 36 votes 10. Bob The Builder - Can We Fix It? [36.59%] 15 out of 41 votes Poker Face will now go into the Ultimate Survivor later on down the line with the other nine winners of these Survivors. The Number 3 Survivor is still ongoing and I will be opening up the Number 2 Survivor a bit later. In the meantime, thank you to everyone who has taken part!! Also, I'll be opening the Leona rate in the Pop forum today so I might as well shamelessly plug it where I can. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EDITED: 30/05/2020 Champion board: EOY #1 winner: Lady Gaga - Poker Face (2009) EOY #2 winner: All Saints - Pure Shores (2000) EOY #3 winner: Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out of My Head (2001) EOY #4 winner: Atomic Kitten - Whole Again (2001) EOY #5 winner: Take That - Rule The World (2007) EOY #6 winner: Sugababes - About You Now (2007) EOY #7 winner: Shakira - Whenever, Wherever (2002) EOY #8 winner: Spiller feat. It’s ok I guess, I mean the list isn’t amazing but I feel Poker Face has aged quite badly. It Wasn’t Me is the only one I really liked out of the bunch though I did like Crazy at the time.

Great winner watching the music video for the first time on Starz TV was the exact moment that turned me into a fan of Gaga *.*

And the winner is...
Kylie! Let's face it, 'Head' is an undeniable classic and took Minogue's career to new heights - becoming her first US top 10 hit since the 80's! The Kylie classic will now join Poker Face in the upcoming Ultimate Survivor with eight other tracks yet to be voted in! In the runner-up position it is Shakira's biggest single of her career! The Wyclef Jean collaboration heated up the charts in the summer of 2006 - spending 5 non-consecutive weeks at #1 and in the process denying 'Ain't No Other Man', 'Unfaithful' and 'Everytime We Touch' Number One status. The Number 4 Survivor will be up shortly and so will the next round of the Number 2's. In the mean time, vote in Buzzjack's Favourite Noughties Single: The Rate. Links to the Heats are in my signature. A new heat will open on Mondays and Fridays. WINNER: Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out of My Head [63.64%] 28 out of 44 votes Runner-up: Shakira - Hips Don't Lie [36.36%] 16 out of 44 votes 03. Lady Gaga - Just Dance [44.68%] 21 out of 47 votes 04. Mika - Grace Kelly [42.00%] 21 out of 50 votes 05. Sonique - It Feels So Good [36.36%] 16 out of 44 votes 06. Duffy - Mercy [30.77%] 12 out of 39 votes 07. Enrique Iglesias - Hero [23.81%] 10 out of 42 votes 08. R. Kelly - Ignition [50.00%] 18 out of 36 votes 09. DJ Casper - Cha Cha Slide [48.65%] 18 out of 37 votes 10. Crazy Frog - Axel F [51.35%] 19 out of 37 votes |

A pop classic in status but I'm not a huge fan, I pretty much prefer all her other big hit singles from around that time.

One of my least favourite Kylie singles winning
As others have said here, her other hits from around this time were so much better, Spinning Around, In Your Eyes and Love At First Sight especially! Can't Get You Out of My Head is just so boring in comparison, Shakira should have won that. |

And the winner is...
As it has been mentioned, these two songs being the final 2 was inevitable. I actually thought 'Pure Shores' was going to walk it since it gets a massive amount of love on BJ - so to see only two votes away from a tie is a shock! Two tremendous pop songs that were real standouts in the context of their years and also of the decade. 'Pure Shores' will now head into the Ultimate Survivor with 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' and 'Poker Face' along with 7 other tracks to be determined! I will go into more detail with the winning songs during the ultimate survivor btw. And now for the runner-up. The single that made Rihanna a superstar! Originally written with Britney Spears in mind, her A&R rejected it and the song fell into the hands of Taio Cruz(!) and Mary J Blige, but for various reasons they couldn't commit to recording it. The stars truly aligned for Rihanna who took the song to #1 for TEN weeks during the summer of 2007 - tying her with Whitney for the most weeks at number one by a female artist. The song was also notable for reigning at the top during one of the wettest summers ever recorded in the UK! Internationally, the song's reign at number one also coincided with uncommon storms and torrential rain! The Number 5 edition will open later on. Final results: WINNER: All Saints - Pure Shores [52.78%] 19 out of 36 votes Runner-up: Rihanna - Umbrella [47.22%] 17 out of 36 votes 03. Hear'Say - Pure and Simple [55.56%] 20 out of 36 votes 04. Shayne Ward - That's My Goal [48.84%] 21 out of 43 votes 05. Leona Lewis - A Moment Like This [41.03%] 16 out 39 votes 06. Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling [36.11%] 13 out of 36 votes 07. Gareth Gates - Spirit In the Sky [31.71%] 13 out of 41 votes 08. The X Factor Finalists 2008 - Hero [37.50%] 12 out of 32 votes 09. Eamon - F**k It (I Don't Want You Back) [40.91%] 18 out of 44 votes 10. Gareth Gates - Unchained Melody [38.10%] 16 out of 42 votes |

Perfect winner 'Pure Shores' is stunning. Rihanna is a very worthy runner-up too! BuzzJack got this one so right.

All Saints were running away with it when I voted so surprised to see Rihanna catch up to such an extent.
Umbrella would have been a much preferred winner but at least Pure Shores is comfortably the best winner so far in this series. |

The End-of-Year Number 4 Survivor Result And the winner is... Whole Again! Atomic Kitten's breakthrough single proves popular with Buzzjack beating some real classics to win this Survivor and now joins Poker Face, Pure Shores and Can't Get You Out of My Head in the Ultimate Survivor later on down the line. I've never been a fan of the track personally. I've aired my thoughts on it during each round as I gave it my vote to eliminate. I believe it's very beige as a song and their later tracks like 'It's OK', 'Be With You' and 'The Last Goodbye' trump it easily. Atomic Kitten are a great example of an act where their #1's don't do their singles discography justice but that's just my opinion - you guys seem to love it and in all fairness it was the song that put them on the map in the first place! Now finishing runner-up... Fight For This Love was Cheryl Cole's first solo single away from Girls Aloud (excluding her feature on will.i.am's 2008 hit 'Heartbreaker') and instantly became a massive hit in the UK. Cheryl's star was at its peak during her original stint as a judge on The X Factor from 2008-2010 and she smartly launched her solo career while the iron was hot! FFTL sold over 292,000 copies (!!) in its first week to debut at number one and dethrone her former X Factor protege Alexandra Burke with her own "proper" debut single 'Bad Boys'. Cheryl's debut stayed at #1 for a fortnight before being replaced by X Factor runner-ups JLS - needless to say, The X Factor was dominating the UK charts at this time. Elsewhere, the song hit the top 10 all across Europe which was unprecedented for Cheryl since Girls Aloud rarely found success/promoted beyond the UK and Ireland. Thanks to everyone who has voted and continued to get involved. The Number 6 Survivor is incoming! In the mean time, vote in Buzzjack's Favourite Noughties Single: The Rate. Links to the Heats are in my signature. The 2008 Heat is open now! WINNER: Atomic Kitten - Whole Again [67.50%] 27 out of 40 votes Runner-up: Cheryl Cole - Fight for This Love [32.50%] 13 out of 40 votes 03. Nelly & Kelly Rowland - Dilemma [42.11%] 16 out of 38 votes 04. Eric Prydz - Call On Me [47.06%] 16 out of 34 votes 05. Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin' [36.84%] 14 out of 38 votes 06. Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl [27.50%] 11 out of 40 votes 07. James Blunt - You're Beautiful [26.47%] 9 out of 34 votes 08. Michael Andrews & Gary Jules - Mad World [28.95%] 11 out of 38 votes 09. Baha Men - Who Let the Dogs Out? [47.83%] 22 out of 46 votes 10. Leon Jackson - When You Believe [34.88%] 15 out of 43 votes |

Finally a great winner! One of my fave girl group tracks and glad it comfortably beat Cheryl in the end. Fight For This Love would again have been an 'ok' winner but nothing special.
Dilemma was robbed tho. |

The End-of-Year Number 5 Survivor Result And the winner is... Rule The World! Now this is a winner I didn't expect! Just under two-thirds of you voted for Take That's enormous #2 hit from 2007 to be crowned the winner of this survivor. At least it came #1 where it matters. They become the first male act to win in this Survivor series and subsequently get added to the Ultimate Survivor line-up where they will be joined by the previous winners and the to-be-determined winners of the 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's and 10's! Now finishing runner-up... I am shocked this lost! This was the Pussies' debut single which catapulted them to global stardom in 2005. The song opened with over 85,000 copies to land at #1 on the UK Singles Chart in September '05 and stayed at the summit for three weeks before being replaced by the Sugababe's 'Push the Button'! What a time to be a girl group stan. *.* Rather surprisingly, this missed out on the top spot in the US and settled for #2. 'Don't Cha' is iconic - no arguments! The "don't cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me" is known by everyone and it became a bit of a homewrecker/relationship-destroyer anthem. In my opinion it is far from their best (that goes to Buttons ) but it did its job well and launched their careers. Probably one of the best debut singles of the noughties. Thanks to everyone who has voted and continued to get involved. The Number 7 Survivor is incoming! The next round of the Number 6 Survivor is also coming! In the mean time, vote in Buzzjack's Favourite Noughties Single: The Rate. Links to the Heats are in my signature. WINNER: Take That - Rule The World [64.86%] 24 out of 37 votes Runner-up: Pussycat Dolls feat. Busta Rhymes - Don't Cha [35.14%] 13 out of 37 votes 03. Robbie Williams - Rock DJ [50.00%] 17 out of 34 votes 04. Usher - Yeah [43.24%] 16 out of 37 votes 05. Will Young - Leave Right Now [33.33%] 12 out of 36 votes 06. Elvis Presley vs JXL - A Little Less Conversation [38.24%] 13 out of 34 votes 07. DJ Otzi - Hey Baby [47.22%] 17 out of 36 votes 08. Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers in My Hair) [32.43%] 12 out of 37 votes 08. Nickelback - Rockstar [32.43%] 12 out of 37 votes 10. Joe McElderry - The Climb [38.24%] 13 out of 34 votes |
