Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe)
Here is the chart of June 22, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 Wiley, Sean Paul & Stefflon Don - Boasty 32 Ellie Goulding - Sixteen 6 Down 31 Pink - Walk Me Home 6 Down 30 29 Sam Smith & Normani - Dancing With A Stranger 5 Down 28 Lady GaGa & Bradley Cooper - Shallow 5 Down 27 Kygo & Rita Ora - Carry On 5 Down 26 Tom Walker - Just You And I 6 Down 25 Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You 18 Down 24 23 22 Daddy Yankee & Snow - Con Calma 5 Down 21 Madonna & Maluma - Medellin 3 Down 20 Stormzy - Vossi Bop 11 Down 19 Jax Jones & Martin Solveig - All Day And Night 4 Down 18 Mabel - Don't Call Me Up 5 Down 17 Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man - Giant 1 Down 16 Mark Ronson & Lykke Li - Late Night Feelings 2 Down 15 14 13 12 11 Taylor Swift & Brendon Urie - ME! 3 Down 10 Ava Max - So Am I 2 Up 9 James Arthur - Falling Like The Stars 1 Up 8 Meduza & Goodboys - Piece Of Your Heart 4 Down 7 Jonas Brothers - Sucker 4 Up 6 Avicii & Aloe Blacc - SOS Stay => 5 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy Stay => 4 3 Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved Stay => 2 Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care 1 Down 1 Lil' Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road 1 Up At the very beginning of this year, Miley Cyrus reached number 1 with "Nothing Breaks Like A Heart" (together with Mark Ronson). Now Billy Ray Cyrus does the same with "Old Town Road" (together with Lil' Nas X)! I'll have to check the archives to see whether there have been other cases in the history of this chart when both a parent and a child have scored chart-toppers. In any case, I don't think any have achieved this in one and the same year... and ESPECIALLY I don't believe there has been any instance when the child has gone to number 1 BEFORE the parent!!!!!! |

IMPORTANT:
This week I won't be able to watch the "Euro Top Chart". Would sdizda or someone else be so kind to watch the chart and write it down? MTV Europe broadcasts it 2 times during the week: from 9:00 to 11:00 CET on Friday and from 6:00 to 8:00 CET on Sunday. |

Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe)
Here is the chart of July 6, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man - Giant 9 Down 28 27 Stormzy - Vossi Bop 5 Down 26 Sam Smith & Normani - Dancing With A Stranger 3 Up 25 Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You Stay => 24 23 Jax Jones & Martin Solveig - All Day And Night 5 Down 22 Mark Ronson & Lykke Li - Late Night Feelings 6 Down 21 DJ Tiesto, Jonas Blue & Rita Ora - Ritual 20 19 Jonas Brothers - Sucker 5 Down 18 Ava Max - So Am I 8 Down 17 Dominic Fike - 3 Nights 16 Taylor Swift & Brendon Urie - ME! 3 Down 15 Pedro Capo & Farruko - Calma 14 Mabel - Don't Call Me Up 2 Down 13 12 11 10 Meduza & Goodboys - Piece Of Your Heart 3 Down 9 8 Avicii & Aloe Blacc - SOS 3 Down 7 Katy Perry - Never Really Over 1 Down 6 Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved 4 Down 5 Little Mix - Bounce Back 4 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy Stay => 3 Lil' Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road 2 Down 2 Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care 1 Up 1 Taylor Swift - You Need To Calm Down Taylor Swift reaches number 1 once again - this time with "You Need To Calm Down". Her previous single - "ME!" - also spent a week at the top... however, MTV Europe didn't show that! During that edition of the chart MTV Europe pretended that "ME!" doesn't exist and, as a result, "SOS" by Avicii and Aloe Blacc (which was actually at number 2) was presented as the chart-topper... |

Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe)
Here is the chart of July 27, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 BTS & Halsey - Boy With Luv 2 Down 34 Mabel - Don't Call Me Up 7 Down 33 32 31 Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man - Giant 3 Down 30 Little Mix - Bounce Back 7 Down 29 Ava Max - So Am I 5 Down 28 Mark Ronson & Lykke Li - Late Night Feelings 6 Down 27 26 Avicii & Chris Martin - Heaven 6 Down 25 Jonas Brothers - Sucker 6 Down 24 23 22 Jax Jones & Martin Solveig - All Day And Night 10 Up 21 Nicki Minaj - MEGATRON Stay => 20 Sam Smith & Normani - Dancing With A Stranger 6 Up 19 DJ Tiesto, Jonas Blue & Rita Ora - Ritual 2 Down 18 Katy Perry - Never Really Over 8 Down 17 16 Pedro Capo & Farruko - Calma 2 Up 15 Sigala - Wish You Well 6 Down 14 13 12 Dominic Fike - 3 Nights 2 Up 11 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy 3 Down 10 Stormzy - Vossi Bop 1 Up 9 Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved 2 Down 8 Freya Ridings - Castles 7 Taylor Swift - You Need To Calm Down 5 Down 6 Ed Sheeran & Khalid - Beautiful People 5 Lil' Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road 1 Down 4 Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care 1 Down 3 2 Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello - Señorita 1 Down 1 Meduza & Goodboys - Piece Of Your Heart 5 Up "Piece Of Your Heart" by Meduza and Goodboys becomes one of the more surprising number ones in the history of this chart. It's not that the song is among the least-deserving chart-toppers - it has actually had success across Europe... It's just that it has already spent several months in the chart, climbed as high as number 4, then fell as low as number 10... and now, after so much time, suddenly jumps to the top! That's quite a shock! |

Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe)
Here is the chart of August 3, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man - Giant 1 Down 31 Nicki Minaj - MEGATRON 10 Down 30 Beyoncé Knowles - Spirit 29 Mark Ronson & Lykke Li - Late Night Feelings 1 Down 28 27 26 Stormzy - Vossi Bop 16 Down 25 Jonas Brothers - Sucker Stay => 24 23 Jax Jones & Martin Solveig - All Day And Night 1 Down 22 21 Dominic Fike - 3 Nights 9 Down 20 19 Avicii & Chris Martin - Heaven 7 Up 18 Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care 14 Down 17 DJ Tiesto, Jonas Blue & Rita Ora - Ritual 2 Up 16 Pedro Capo & Farruko - Calma Stay => 15 Katy Perry - Never Really Over 3 Up 14 Sigala - Wish You Well 1 Up 13 12 11 10 Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved 1 Down 9 Taylor Swift - You Need To Calm Down 2 Down 8 Mabel - Mad Love 7 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy 4 Up 6 Post Malone - Goodbyes 5 Ed Sheeran & Khalid - Beautiful People 1 Up 4 Meduza & Goodboys - Piece Of Your Heart 3 Down 3 Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello - Señorita 1 Down 2 Freya Ridings - Castles 6 Up 1 Lil' Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road 4 Up After others songs reigned at the top for 4 weeks, now "Old Town Road" returns to number 1 for a third (nonconsecutive) week there. However, the story (and question) of the week is one place below. How can "Castles" by Freya Ridings - a song which has only reached number 18 in the UK and number 21 in Ireland - be placed at number 2 in a chart which is supposed to cover ALL of Europe? |

Here is the chart of August 10, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 Stormzy - Vossi Bop 1 Up 24 Lady GaGa & Bradley Cooper - Shallow 23 Jonas Brothers - Sucker 2 Up 22 Mark Ronson & Camila Cabello - Find U Again 21 Sam Smith - How Do You Sleep? 20 Jax Jones & Martin Solveig - All Day And Night 3 Up 19 Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber - I Don't Care 1 Down 18 Dominic Fike - 3 Nights 3 Up 17 DJ Tiesto, Jonas Blue & Rita Ora - Ritual Stay => 16 Ed Sheeran & Travis Scott - Antisocial 15 Pedro Capo & Farruko - Calma 1 Up 14 JP Cooper & Astrid S - Sing It With Me 13 Katy Perry - Never Really Over 2 Up 12 Sigala - Wish You Well 2 Up 11 Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved 1 Down 10 Mabel - Mad Love 2 Down 9 Taylor Swift - You Need To Calm Down Stay => 8 Miley Cyrus - Mother's Daughter 7 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy Stay => 6 Meduza & Goodboys - Piece Of Your Heart 2 Down 5 Ed Sheeran & Khalid - Beautiful People Stay => 4 Post Malone - Goodbyes 2 Up 3 Freya Ridings - Castles 1 Down 2 Lil' Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road 1 Down 1 Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello - Señorita 2 Up "Señorita" by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello returns to number 1 for a second week there. It's quite notable that MTV Europe played 3 different songs by Ed Sheeran during this edition of the chart - "I Don't Care", "Antisocial" and "Beautiful People". In previous years MTV Europe seemed to refuse to play more than one song by an artist during one and the same edition of the chart... |

On the other hand, it's Ariana Grande's third number 1. Her first chart-topper was another collaboration - "Bang Bang", with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj. Now, can you guess - out of all the possible options - which was Ariana's second number 1 in this chart??? ..."God Is A Woman"!!! |

Here is the chart of September 7, 2019: 50 49 48 47 46 JP Cooper & Astrid S - Sing It With Me 45 44 43 42 Kiana Ledé - Bouncin' 41 40 39 38 Katy Perry - Never Really Over 3 Down 37 36 35 34 33 32 Charli XCX & Christine & The Queens - Gone 1 Down 31 Post Malone - Goodbyes 7 Down 30 Jonas Brothers - Only Human 29 28 27 26 Mabel - Mad Love 25 24 Ellie Goulding & Juice WRLD - Hate Me 23 Lizzo - Tempo 6 Up 22 21 Avicii & Chris Martin - Heaven 2 Up 20 Sigala - Wish You Well 2 Down 19 Beyoncé Knowles - Spirit 7 Up 18 17 16 Normani - Motivation 15 Ariana Grande & Social House - Boyfriend 14 Down 14 Joel Corry - Sorry Stay => 13 DJ Snake & J Balvin - Loco Contigo 4 Down 12 Sam Smith - How Do You Sleep? 7 Down 11 DJ Tiesto, Jonas Blue & Rita Ora - Ritual Stay => 10 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy Stay => 9 Lil' Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road 1 Down 8 7 Ed Sheeran & Khalid - Beautiful People 3 Down 6 Dominic Fike - 3 Nights 6 Up 5 Freya Ridings - Castles 1 Up 4 Meduza & Goodboys - Piece Of Your Heart 3 Up 3 2 1 Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello - Señorita 1 Up "Señorita" by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello is back at number 1 for a fourth (nonconsecutive) week - a total accumulated over 4 separate runs at the top. Of course, this means that the previous chart-topper - "Boyfriend" by Ariana Grande and Social House - is no longer at the top... But where has it gone? It's fallen 14 places to number 15! Which is evidence that it might not have been a deserving number 1... And once again a song appears in this chart and I wonder why... "Bouncin'" by Kiana Ledé hasn't appeared in the singles chart of any European country... yet somehow it's here! |

Euro Top Chart - (as broadcast on MTV Europe)
Here is the chart of September 14, 2019: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 Lewis Capaldi - Someone You Loved 33 Charli XCX & Christine & The Queens - Gone 1 Down 32 Jorja Smith - Be Honest 31 30 29 28 27 Lizzo - Tempo 4 Down 26 Ellie Goulding & Juice WRLD - Hate Me 2 Down 25 Post Malone - Goodbyes 6 Up 24 Mabel - Mad Love 2 Up 23 Avicii & Chris Martin - Heaven 2 Down 22 Sigala - Wish You Well 2 Down 21 Beyoncé Knowles - Spirit 2 Down 20 19 18 17 16 15 Normani - Motivation 1 Up 14 DJ Snake & J Balvin - Loco Contigo 1 Down 13 Ariana Grande & Social House - Boyfriend 2 Up 12 Sam Smith - How Do You Sleep? Stay => 11 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy 1 Down 10 Lil' Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road 1 Down 9 Ed Sheeran & Khalid - Beautiful People 2 Down 8 Freya Ridings - Castles 3 Down 7 DJ Tiesto, Jonas Blue & Rita Ora - Ritual 4 Up 6 Dominic Fike - 3 Nights Stay => 5 Meduza & Goodboys - Piece Of Your Heart 1 Down 4 Joel Corry - Sorry 10 Up 3 Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello - Señorita 2 Down 2 1 Kygo & Whitney Houston - Higher Love When MTV Europe played "Gone" by Charli XCX and Christine & The Queens, they showed its position as number 23. However, before "Gone" they had played "Someone You Loved" as number 34 and after "Gone" they played "Be Honest" as number 32. So obviously this was a mistake and "Gone" is actually supposed to be at number 33. "Higher Love" becomes Kygo's first chart-topper. Previously, his highest-peaking song in this chart had been his first hit, "Firestone", which reached number 2. And then we come to Whitney Houston... She last appeared in MTV Europe's European chart with "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" - her duet with Enrique Iglesias - during the end of 2000 and the very first week of 2001. More than 18 years have passed since then... We have archives for MTV Europe's European chart dating back to September 1989. During this period, Whitney had scored 2 number ones - "I'm Your Baby Tonight" and "I Will Always Love You". "I Will Always Love You" reached the top at the beginning of 1993... Now Whitney is at number 1 again, this time with "Higher Love" - 26 YEARS LATER!!!!!! |

However, before "Heaven" they had played "Be Honest" as number 26 and after "Heaven" they played "Spirit" as number 24. So obviously this was a mistake and "Heaven" is actually supposed to be at number 25. "Señorita" by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello makes history this week. It's back at number 1 for a fifth (nonconsecutive) week - a total accumulated over 5 separate runs at the top! In the history of this chart, only one other song has had 5 separate runs at number 1 - "Alors On Danse" by Stromae achieved it in 2010. |
