BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Paloma Faith - A Perfect Contradiction (Outsiders' Edition)

Posted by: Joe. 15th September 2014, 10:29 AM

Lots of news today:

QUOTE
Paloma has to announced that she’ll release a new version of her album ‘A Perfect Contradiction’ on November 3.
That’s the new cover above, obviously.
Subtitled The Outsiders’ Edition the ‘repack’ will feature five new songs including the forthcoming single ‘Ready For The Good Life’, which was produced by Klas Åhlund.
Here’s the ‘cover art’ for that:
Ready For The Good Life

The other new tracks include two songs written by Diane Warren (‘Leave While I’m Not Looking’ and ‘Best Bad Habit’), a song called ‘Beauty Remains’ co-written by Paloma, Bernard Butler and Fyfe Dangerfield, and a new version of the Sigma collaboration ‘Changing’.
Not only that but she’s also announced a 2015 arena tour, which is detailed below:
12 March Brighton Centre
14 March Newcastle Metro Arena
15 March Bournemouth International Centre
17 March Cardiff Motorpoint Arena
19 March Birmingham NIA
20 March Glasgow SSE Hydro Arena
21 March Leeds First Direct Arena
23 March Nottingham Capital FM Arena
24 March Liverpool Echo Arena
25 March London O2 Arena
Tickets go on sale on Friday September 19 at bloody 9am.

Hoping Radio 1 might get on board for the new single, with the major success she's had recently, especially with Sigma. This album is going to sell by the bucketload over Christmas, especially if she can have another top ten with 'Ready For The Good Life'

Exciting times for Paloma fans!

I've been meaning to get round to buying this album, but I think I'll wait until November now. tongue.gif

Posted by: PAJ88 15th September 2014, 12:53 PM

YAY!!! I'm happy for the new album and no doubt some may feature on her Aussie tour I have tickets to. I hope they're good!

Posted by: slowdown73 15th September 2014, 12:57 PM

I knew this would happen and we'd get a re-release. Bit unfair on people who have already bought the album cos it means going out and getting it again if you are like me and only buy CDs.

Posted by: Cameron 15th September 2014, 01:20 PM

I still need to buy this album! So I also will wait till November as I adore the new artwork colour ohmy.gif the single's cover is amazing too!

Really excited for this but probably won't buy the new version as I already have the original. I'll listen to it somewhere online instead, excited for a new single too, hope it's better than Can't Rely On You although it grew on me over time.

That's your fault for only buying CDs. You can still download or stream the new tracks without paying again for the old ones. Gotta move with the times bub.

Oh dear, will need to fork out some money for this. Excited though!

Posted by: ▬Mart!n▬ 15th September 2014, 04:52 PM

I have to get this as well, I just love her material, would love a live concert album from her that would be just amazing..

Posted by: T Boy 15th September 2014, 05:34 PM

Any extra tracks had better not be album only.

Posted by: Simon. 15th September 2014, 06:54 PM

Booked for her November tour already but the thought of Arena tour excites me, I'll have to spend more money on her mellow.gif so skint this month too!

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 15th September 2014, 07:07 PM

I might get tickets for the Arena tour in London
I am so excited for the new songs cheer.gif

Thanks for such a sympathetic response...well actually there are still more people who buy the physical product of an album than the digital edition so I don't entirely agree that its about "moving with the times".
Perhaps I shouldn't have bought the album when it first came out and waited for the re-release, given this is becoming an increasing trend among record companies. If more people did that then the album wouldn't have sold as well and then perhaps there wouldn't have been a reissue. I can't help but feel this is more about record companies greed than anything else.

Posted by: Spiral 15th September 2014, 09:45 PM

Balls! I brought the original album! I guess I can just download the new tracks on iTunes.

Posted by: Umi 15th September 2014, 10:56 PM

Re-releases aren't increasingly common at all. They've been on the decline in the past few years and were much more prominent around 2010/11.

Is anyone in need of someone to go with to the Brighton date? Really want to go! tongue.gif

Posted by: PAJ88 15th September 2014, 11:27 PM

Digital Spy mentioned an edition that came with a live recording of her Royal Albert Hall show. Anyone know more about this?

I was actually thinking of booking that (as I'm tired of going to concerts in London and need an excuse to visit Brighton again), but it's on my dad's birthday. Damn you Paloma.

I know she had a date at RAH but I don't know anything of an edition that includes it; probably will be sold separately sad.gif

Brighton? No sorry
I might be looking for someone to come to one of her Aussie shows in May, I've got tickets for me and a friend, but that friend isn't committed to coming yet.

Unsure which would come in the album version but I'd imagine they'd make a DVD with a CD inside too.

Hopefully the Q4 release of this will mean she'll have no issue gaining her 3rd consecutive double platinum album!

I'm hoping they televise the RAH concert during Xmas, Adele and Emeli Sande has been televised in the past on BBC1 or 2, let's hope they do the same for Paloma

According to Amazon, there is a deluxe edition of the outsiders edition and a standard edition but both have two CDs. Anybody know what the difference is?

Posted by: Jonjo 22nd September 2014, 06:17 PM

Gonna add this here (as well as the sales thread):

QUOTE
1 PICKING UP THE PIECES 350,000
2 ONLY LOVE CAN HURT LIKE THIS 305,000
3 NEW YORK 270,000
4 NEVER TEAR US APART 180,000
5 UPSIDE DOWN 138,000
'Picking Up the Pieces' has somehow sold a lot more than I imagined it did overall! ohmy.gif (I was thinking more 280k in total) so that's a very pleasant surprise! And I'm really happy its still her biggest seller so far!

Posted by: Jark 22nd September 2014, 06:21 PM

Except it's not, Only Love has sold 366,359. Versus 365k for Pieces.

Posted by: Jonjo 22nd September 2014, 06:22 PM

I wonder why OCC have reported that figure then? Hmm. Bizarre! (It was posted http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/paloma-faith-a-lot-of-people-in-my-position-would-have-given-up-3143/ too, so its not like a week out of date or anything haha)

Posted by: jsilv 22nd September 2014, 06:30 PM

I think OCC are very confused as to what they're counting as a sale for now, they don't know what to do with streaming really.

Although, I suppose the gap would be a bit bigger then if it didn't include streaming.

Posted by: Joe. 22nd September 2014, 08:18 PM

It's weird that OCC keep giving sales figures way under what has already been reported. They did that for The Saturdays recently.

Yeah the OCC figures are, presumably, sales only, with those figures you quoted being sales and streaming.

Posted by: THEO. 23rd September 2014, 08:09 PM

Incredible sales for "Upside Down" which peaked at something like #56! It's probably my favourite from her début album nowadays (although the whole album is so strong throughout and possibly still her best).

Posted by: THEO. 3rd October 2014, 06:21 PM

The tracklist for the Outsiders' Edition has been put up on Amazon. I've bolded the changes/new tracks:

Disc 1
1. Can't Rely on You
2. Mouth to Mouth
3. Take Me
4. Only Love Can Hurt Like This
5. Other Woman
6. Taste My Own Tears
7. Trouble with My Baby
8. The Bigger You Love (The Harder You Fall)
9. Impossible Heart
10. Love Only Leaves You Lonely
11. It's The Not Knowing
12. Beauty Remains
13. Ready for the Good Life
14. Leave While I'm Not Looking
15. Changing

Disc: 2
1. Mouth to Mouth
2. Take Me

3. Trouble with My Baby
4. I'd Rather Go Blind - Paloma Faith duet with Ty Taylor
5. Other Woman

6. It's The Not Knowing
7. Only Love Can Hurt Like This
8. Upside Down
9. Can't Rely on You

I'm assuming the doubles of the songs that I haven't boldened are the live/exposed/off the cuff versions from the original "deluxe" release. Interesting that she's covering Etta James (as a duet as well) but I see they've performed it live together on YouTube so it could just be another live version. "Upside Down" (as per my previous post) is one of my favourite songs of hers ever so I'm pleased we'll hear another "version" of that on here too!

Posted by: ManicKangaroo 3rd October 2014, 08:00 PM

Disc 2 looks like its her Proms concert (although only 9 of the 15 tracks she performed sadly)

Posted by: PAJ88 3rd October 2014, 10:05 PM

What happened to the track 'Best Bad Habbit'?

Posted by: PAJ88 7th November 2014, 10:54 AM

Listening to it now. Love 'Leave While I'm Not Looking' it's like LCOHLT pt2.

Anyone know why 'Best Bad Habbit' was taken off the tracklist?

This was definitely a highlight on the tour, sounded great.

It's a shame while I want her to have every success, I don't see why she couldn't put the extra songs on the live disc. Also now shes doing Arenas shes gone up in the World and milking the dollar sad.gif

Is RFTGL even getting a video?
