074. 'Gravity' [2013]
IMDB Rating: 7.8/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 96%

And so we continue and at #74 we have 'Gravity'. A film which is set in space and focuses on a mission gone really wrong and ends up with the main character, trying her hardest to get herself back to Earth and get out of the current mess she is in. After a lot of words of wisdom and thinking about things she manages to get things going, but all with complications. It's not quite as boring as you'd probably think and is a whole lot more tense and more stunning visually than you'd probably think too. Definitely worth a look.

---

073. 'Captain Phillips' [2013]
IMDB Rating: 7.9/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 93%

At #73 we have a film which is based on the true story about an American cargo ship getting hijacked by Somali Pirates and Captain Phillips being held captive as a hostage. Thoroughly tense and extremely emotional, I was take aback by how good it actually was. Tom Hanks is one of the most watchable actors out there right now and he manages to draw you into the story and make you feel so much compassion for his character. Barkhad Abdi however, is absolutely terrifying and manages to really raise the tensions with his back and forth chemistry with Tom! Well worth a watch, imo. Another watch and I think this could be even higher for me!

Two of my favourite films of 2013! Both are really good, Gravity was so good even if some people branded it boring, and Captain Phillips is an instant classic.

072. 'Blackfish' [2013]
IMDB Rating: 8.1/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 98%

Continuing with the countdown and we have a documentary film. Usually, when it comes to films I'm more into the faux-documentary types or a "mockumentary" if you will. However, this is VERY real and such an interesting look at what goes on behind the scenes at the biggest aquatic corporation, Seaworld. I really don't know how people can come out of watching this and feeling anything other than sad and angry at the whole prospect of a corporation like this. It's a real eye opener and I have vowed to never step foot in or even near a Seaworld. It's cruel and hellacious for all animals involved. Such a thoroughly gripping documentary that no matter how painful the stories are to hear, they're valuable and definitely need watching.

---

071. 'Godzilla' [2014]
IMDB Rating: 6.5/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 74%

Almost into the top 70 and we have a film of monster proportions. It's the 2014 remake of the classic story of 'Godzilla'! I think by now we all know the general story of Godzilla and how he became the monster that he is. However, this film brought it all back to the very beginning and the only downfall to the film for me, was that they wasted Bryan Cranston, COMPLETELY. Slow to get into, but once it gets going, you're on the edge of your seat throughout. Looking forward to the sequel and the rumoured Godzilla vs. King Kong movie that's supposedly in the pipes!

Captain Phillips has been on my watchlist for a long time now, I'm a fan of Tom Hanks and it really looks so intense so I must get around to watching it sometime!

I did enjoy Gravity for its excellent visuals and fairly captivating storyline but The Martian blew it out of the water for me, the latter will definitely be my go-to space flick for the future I think!

Gonna continue this! LMAO. Not gonna keep it unfinished drama.gif

070. '22 Jump Street' [2014]
IMDB Rating: 7.1/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 84%

In the top 70 we have a feel-good, doesn't take itself seriously, fun comedy in '22 Jump Street'! The sequel to 2012's surprise smash hit '21 Jump Street', which featured in my countdown, earlier! The chemistry between Channing and Jonah is fantastic. They bounce off each other so well and they both work superbly with other cast members. Full of iconic moments such as the scene that became a meme "My name is Jeff", "Say something cool..." "something cooooool" and my personal favourite of the two franchises, when Channing's character finds out that Jonah's character is sleeping with the chief's daughter! Extremely LOL and really cheers me up.

---

069. 'Maniac' [2012]
IMDB Rating: 6.1/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 49%

Up next is a unique horror experience. Shot entirely in the POV of the "maniac" (Elijah Wood), this stylish, yet clever horror doesn't hold back. It's all tense, nerving, grim, bloody and creepy all rolled into one. Elijah really excels at portraying an unhinged maniacal murderer. If that isn't enough to grip you, he has a weird and random obsession with mannequins! Mannequin's themselves are scary enough. Really pleasantly surprised at this!

068. 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues' [2013]
IMDB Rating: 6.3/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 75%

Here, we have another comedy. This time the sequel to the 2001 smash hit comedy, 'Anchorman'! It's just as silly and good as it's counterpart and the characters are just as funny! Steve Carrell's character, Brick, is still the easy highlight for me. He really steals the show and just embodies the character so, SO well! His chemistry with Kristen Wiig is outstanding and I think we could've had a bit more from them both, but what we did get of them was very funny and sweet and perfect for their characters!

---

067. 'The Theory Of Everything' [2014]
IMDB Rating: 7.7/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 79%

We have an Oscar winner up next and for the Oscar they won it for, it was completely and utterly deserved! Eddie Redmayne's performance as Stephen Hawkings was one of the very best performances this side of the decade at least. He seemed to really commit to the role and it seems like he did his research on Stephen Hawkings. A very powerfully moving and gripping movie that surpassed expectations and isn't as "boring" as you'd probably believe it to be. It's a little slow at times, but it doesn't distract from how beautiful the story is!

I hate Will Ferrell with a passion but kinda like Anchorman, just cause of Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate.

QUOTE(Jonjo @ Apr 18 2016, 11:28 PM) *
Each to their own I guess! tongue.gif I think RDJ really owns his Iron Man character! I agree that in every film he's done since he seems to be playing just a slight variation of Tony in them and don't particularly rate him much as an actor outside of the Marvel movies. Sebastian was about as good as the rest of the supporting cast in all honesty. I really wanna see him in a major role where he is the main character. I'm not too familiar with his work beyond Bucky really! He has great potential. What film would you recommend me to watch where he's actually great as one of the main cast members?

*Better late than never*

He's not really had that many big juicy roles tbh, other than The Covenant which is kinda dire laugh.gif The Bronze is his best one, shows off his comedic side (and his body) very rauncy.
He is pretty good in Ricki & The Flash too, what little screen time he gets.

His TV work is better IMO, Once Upon A Time, Political Animals and Labyrinth are all brilliant. Plus there's this really epic monologue

From the movies I've seen:

The Hunger Games (really like this movie. Managed to see every film of this franchise so far in a cinema.) [9/10]
Despicable Me 2 (though I didn't enjoy it as much as the first film, it was still a pretty good watch) [8/10]
The Martian (really interesting and cool film) [10/10]
Django Unchained (excellent film) [10/10]
I've only seen like the first ten minutes of Man From UNCLE. Sadly, I had to stop it before I could finish it.
21 Jump Street + 22 Jump Street (really love those films) [10/10 for both]

066. 'Still Alice' [2014]
IMDB Rating: 7.5/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 88%

Up next is the award winning drama, 'Still Alice'. Julianne Moore plays Alice who is a linguistics professor and it follows her journey as she is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Julianne Moore, puts in one of the best, standalone performances in recent years. Both charming and absolutely devastating and heartbreaking, it's a must see for her performance alone.

---

065. 'Ex Machina' [2015]
IMDB Rating: 7.7/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 93%

At #65 is the futuristic, sci-fi, thriller 'Ex Machina'. Featuring Jonjo fave Oscar Isaac and up & coming actors in both Domhnall Gleeson and Alicia Vikander. Domhnall's character is a young programmer who is invited to go and evaluate the human interactions of an advanced A.I. All 3 of the actors put in some stellar performances. Alicia especially. She plays the A.I. perfectly!

---

064. 'Thor: The Dark World' [2013]
IMDB Rating: 7.1/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 66%

Up next and we come to the second MCU movie in the top 100 (ahead of 'Iron Man 3'), 'Thor: Dark World'. Iirc, this one got panned and seemed to get a lukewarm reception from fans, but I really enjoyed it. I thought it was far superior to the first movie (which is my least favourite in the MCU... BITE ME!) it seemed a lot more, fun and just had a lot more going for it. Whereas the first seemed to be quite empty and anti-climatic to me.

---

063. 'How To Train Your Dragon 2' [2014]
IMDB Rating: 7.9/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 92%

At #63 is another animated movie and another sequel. This time it's Dreamworks Animations, 'How To train Your Dragon 2'. It's no surprise that I generall have a dislike and disdain to a lot of Dreamworks animations (a lot of them tend to be overrated or just tripe - Shrek, Over The Hedge, Flushed Away etc..) but I do feel that they've struck magic with the HTTYD franchise. Toothless is one of the most beautiful and cutest characters in the world of animation, for me. What a gorgeous dragon. Makes me wish he was real </3 but yeah, the 2nd movie is better than the first for me and really tugs at the heartstrings in a couple of scenes! Towards the end especially! :'(

---

062. 'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials' [2015]
IMDB Rating: 6.4/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 48%

In at #62 is the dystopian future, sci-fi film, 'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials'. For me, the Maze Runner franchise is better than the other franchises in that genre ('Hunger Games', 'Divergent' etc..). The cast don't seem to be as annoying as the others and I really believe Dylan is an actor to watch out for in the future. He brings a sense of realism and shows leadership skills pretty well in this. I think where 'The Maze Runner' benefits the most for me, is that going into both of the movies, I had little to low expectations "another 'Hunger Games' rip-off" etc... but they're far from that and pleasantly surprised me. They seem quite a bit darker than their peers too! This whole franchise is under appreciated, imo.

---

061. 'American Sniper' [2015]
IMDB Rating: 7.3/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 72%

Aaaand just missing out on the top 60 is Clint Eastwood's 'American Sniper'. It follows the Navy S.E.A.L's most prolific Sniper, Chris Kyle and how he managed to eliminate the enemies so carefully with carefully executed missions. But what 'American Sniper' does, which not many other war related movies tend to do, is focus on the psychological aspects of war and the effects it has on the soldiers when they've returned home from serving their country. I was really impressed with this movie (even if a lot of it seemed fabricated, apparently) and Bradley was fantastic in the role of Chris Kyle.

060. 'Mad Max: Fury Road' [2015]
IMDB Rating: 8.1/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 97%

Now it's time for one of the most critically acclaimed films of recent times. 'Mad Max: Fury Road'. When it was announced that there was to be another Mad Max movie, people were crying out "WWWHHHHHYYYY!?!? WHAT'S THE POINT?!" etc... your standard reaction to when it's announced that Hollywood are either rebooting or remaking. Tom Hardy was then announced and people were like "Ok. But I still don't get why" and the trailer got released. People got hyped, but I don't think anyone expected the outcome that they eventually got. A thrilling, fast paced, car chase with some seriously stunning and beautiful visuals. The story had more purpose than one would believe if I was to tell you "it's basically one giant car chase". Tom Hardy was absolutely brilliant, despite saying so little, but it was Charlize Theron, who stole the show.

---

059. 'Me and Earl and The Dying Girl' [2015]
IMDB Rating: 7.8/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 82%

Up next is the commercial, indie flick, 'Me and Earl and The Dying Girl'. A movie that is guaranteed to tug at the heart strings and take you on a rollercoaster of emotions throughout. A character or two may do douchey things, but the heart of the story is what keeps it all together. Despite it's predictable outcome, it gives you a feel good ending.

---

058. 'Frozen' [2013]
IMDB Rating: 7.6/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 89%

At #58 is a film which went completely under the radar, which is a shame, because if it had been given the chance 'Let It Go' could've been a monster hit.... That's right, 'Frozen' is next to leave my top 100! Considering this is another Disney Princess film, this is a great showing for it in one of my countdowns. The fact they have more than just a couple of likeable characters, 'Frozen' has a handful. The message is so important to sisters all around the world, too. Plus, we have some BANGING songs. 'Let It Go', 'Do You Want To Build A Snowman?', 'For The First Time In Forever' (both versions)... what's not to love? I can see why some people might find it overrated, but I really enjoy watching it.

---

057. 'Dallas Buyers Club' [2013]
IMDB Rating: 8.0/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 94%

In at #57 we have one of the films to come as part of the McConnaisance! 'Dallas Buyers Club' is the story of Ron, who does all he can to help AIDS patients get the medication they need to help them fight the disease, after he is diagnosed with that very disease. Both Matthew and Jared put in some career best performances (and they go the awards to match). Definitely worth watching if you want a good drama to watch!

---

056. 'Her' [2014]
IMDB Rating: 8.0/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 95%

A story about a guy falling in love with his phone's software system (similar to Siri), doesn't really sound like it'd be any good, does it? So going into 'Her' I had very little, to no expectations of what to expect, despite the fact the cast was extremely solid. It almost sounds like it'd be a parody film, not an awards contender! But don't be fooled. This movie is seriously good. It's really clever and it is scarily accurate and could very well be what happens in the future! Especially with this generations obsession with technology! Joaquin is absolutely perfect in the role of the lovelorn main character and Scarlett does a stellar job of making you feel for the voice operating system!

055. 'The Social Network' [2010]
IMDB Rating: 7.7/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 96%

As we proceed, we get to the first of 3 David Fincher entries. 'The Social Network' is a film about the rise of Facebook and how Mark dealt with being sued by two brothers who claimed Mark stole the idea! Jesse Eisenberg is as annoying as ever, but it was his co-stars who shone. Justin Timberlake was the ultimate highlight, along with Rooney Mara and Andrew Garfield both getting major breakout roles! It's quite an interesting story especially because of what Facebook has become. It's a lot more subtle than the usual David Fincher fare, but it's executed just as well.

---

054. 'She's Out Of My League' [2010]
IMDB Rating: 6.4/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 58%

Next and taking us away from all the serious dramas, we have the light hearted, funny and charming 'She's Out Of My League'. A film which doesn't really bring anything particularly new to the table in terms of Hollywood comedies, but Jay Baruchel manages to bring a lot of endearing charm and awkwardness to a role which otherwise would've been filled by such a pompous, unlikeable git. Definitely worth watching if you just fancy something easy going to watch.

---

053. 'Dinner For Schmucks' [2010]
IMDB Rating: 5.9/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 42%

And continuing with the comedies, but this time going a bit more bonkers and a quite a bit more silly and outrageous than the one before it, we have 'Dinner For Schmucks'. One of my ultimate "guilty pleasures". So stupidly funny, I can't help but like it! Both Paul Rudd and Steve Carrell have insane chemistry together and Steve Carrell excels at playing an idiot! One of the most quotable films ever for me. Sometimes you just want a silly, nonsensical film to watch and this is always up at the top for me.

---

052. 'The Lego Movie' [2013]
IMDB Rating: 7.8/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 96%

At #52 is one of the best, non-Disney, animations of the decade (obviously). 'The Lego Movie' really should have been nominated for an Oscar or two, beyond the original song they got nominated for! Such a feel good movie. Not only that, but the actual animation is stunning! Lots of moments throughout this movie. Will Arnett's Batman being the main drawing point and Chris Pratt really brings Emmett to life!

---

051. 'Insidious' [2010]
IMDB Rating: 6.8/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 66%

At #51 and just missing out on the top 50 is a horror movie! I'm a big horror fan, so can be quite hard some horrors, but 'Insidious' is one I'll always enjoy. Mainly for that Darth Maul-like creature *shudders*. 'Insidious' is one of the creepiest movies of recent times and has a great cast with both Patrick Wilson & Rose Byrne taking the lead roles. So many horror moments, one of the most significant parts for me is 'Tiptoe Through the Tulips' and the creepy boy running around the house as that song is being played! Ew. One draw back for me and the reason why it's not higher, is that the dream sequence is too long and just feels like it goes on forever, before it actually gets anywhere. But apart from that, definitely worth watching!

some great choices there, Super 8, Iron Man 3, Thor, Dragon, and especially The Martian, Gravity, The Hunger Games, would make my decade list, the latter 3 in my all-time top 100 yahoo.gif

Hiya Jonjo

The Social Network is really a fantastic film, the script is so tight and it manages to be so enthralling, I was so infuriated when Andrew Garfield was getting screwed over as if I knew him in person. It really deserved to be his first Oscar nomination (but hopefully he'll get that this year biggrin.gif), I really like him as an actor actually, definitely under-rated imo!

Her would be pretty high up on a decade-to-date list for me too, despite being such a ridiculous concept, I think you'd find it difficult to find many more real and heart-felt films out there. It's massively touching whilst being incredbily thought-provoking at the same time and of course the acting and voice acting is phenomenal, a shame Phoenix upset the Academy so lost out on a nomination sad.gif

I have to admit I was kind of a little bored in parts of Dallas Buyers Club but the acting is some of the best of the decade for sure, McConaughey was definitely awards--worthy (although Bruce Dern would have been my choice for that year, he'd never have won though! sad.gif) but Jared Leto was even better imo, such an interesting character and very memorable too!

Yay at getting this re-started, looking forward to the rest!

Ex Machina (excellent sci-fi film) [10.0]
American Sniper (really good) [9.0]
Mad Max: Fury Road (one of the best long awaited sequels I've seen along with Anchorman 2 and Toy Story 3) [10.0]
The LEGO Movie (really enjoyable animated film, can't wait for The LEGO Batman Movie. Fun Fact: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the directors of the film, also directed the 21 Jump Street films) [10.0]

050. 'We're The Millers' [2013]
IMDB Rating: 7.0/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 47%

Into the top 50 we go and to kick things off is a comedy. A rather damn good, American comedy at that, 'We're The Millers'. American comedies can be extremely hit or miss for me. More often than not, they're a miss, but when they hit, they hit hard. As does this one. It follows David as he enlists some help from a few people to help him smuggle in some drugs over the border from Mexico. It's about them bonding and trying to make it work as a fake family. Jason and Jennifer have great, natural chemistry together and Will Poulter (who plays Kenny) is hilarious! Definitely worth checking out. Avoid the trailer though as it gives too much away, imo.

---

049. 'Ant-Man' [2015]
IMDB Rating: 7.4/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 81%

Up next and taking us into the top 50 is another Marvel movie. Possibly the most daring Marvel movie to date, 'Ant-Man'. As a huge fan of Paul Rudd and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, when it was announced that he was to play Scott, I was thinking "Oh no. I cannot see him as a superhero at all!". I really shouldn't and probably won't feel like that with the MCU again. They knew exactly what they were doing and the results ended up being a refreshing take on what could otherwise have been a generic genre!

---

048. 'What We Do In The Shadows' [2014]
IMDB Rating: 7.6/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 96%

Now we have another comedy, this time a New Zealand comedy, 'What We Do In The Shadows'. It's a mockumentary which follows a camera crew as they follow the lives of 4 Vampires. Completely unique, random but so refreshingly brilliant. Taika Waititi is one of the most original and fascinating movie makers out there right now. So I am very excited to see what he is going to be doing with the new Thor movie! I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good laugh and a bit of fun!

---

047. 'The Cabin In The Woods' [2012]
IMDB Rating: 7.0/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 92%

Up next is the satirical horror movie, 'The Cabin In The Woods'. A very clever, witty and dry horror spoof, which basically mocks the horror genre, but does it in a really fulfilling and non-stupid way, ala the 'Scary Movie' franchise. It has every horror cliche in there, but manages to have it's own unique twists that manage to take you by surprise. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a horror fan, basically. So unique and done in such a special way.

---

046. 'Imitation Game' [2014]
IMDB Rating: 8.1/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Score: 90%

In at #46 is the movie that I believe is Benedit Cumberbatch's best role yet. 'The Imitation Game' is a real life story on how Alan Turing, with the help of some mathematicians, manages to crack the enigma code which in turn, helps us win WWII! Benedict delivers one of my favourite standalone performances from an actor, this side of the Decade. So much emotion and raw power in this role for him. He had a great supporting cast too, as Keira, especially, puts in an award worthy performance too.
