ngl i've never rated the beatles in my life. just never appealed to me at all. think i agree with here comes the sun as my fav tho. i like come together but i prefer MJ's version much better. and i used to like hey jude but now it's just that song paul just performs at the end of any set he does and it's just over done boring and predictable now

I back that up *.*

I think my top 10 is:

01. Eleanor Rigby
02. Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
03. Let It Be
04. Yellow Submarine (*__)
05. Yesterday
06. Here Come the Sun
07. Tomorrow Never Knows
08. Hello Goodbye
09. We Can Work It Out
10. All You Need is Love

It's srsly stunning listening to their stuff and seeing it's from the 1960s, you simply don't get innovation like that in the mainstream these days. Eleanor Rigby is such a heartbreaking and beautiful track, to get such lyrical and instrumental weight in such a short span of time is a testement to how good they were.

I must say though, I can take or leave pretty much everything before Rubber Soul, some of their earlier ones particularly just annoy me! Drugs were for the best in this case x

My favourites are "Here, There & Everywhere", as I love that ascending melody, and "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight" (technically two seperate songs, but I have to listen to them together).

My favourite song would be The Long And Winding Road followed by A Day In The Life. I also like She's Leaving Home,Eleanor Rigby and Yesterday.

I listened to all their albums for the first time on youtube a few years ago. They weren't on Spotify then. I should really listen to them again. I liked what I heard of the later albums.

Oh what a fab list Jade! Much of yours would mirror mine actually - I've been hoping to sort out a Beatles Quickie Rate (along with Madonna, PSB's and others) soon as I get free time so this could almost be the thread to get folk thinking in readiness.

Here Comes The Sun is far and away the most popular Beatles track in the 21st century - which is odd cos in the 20th century it wasn't even in the running, it was Hey Jude, Let It Be and Yesterday, the latter the most played song of the century.

I rate lots of non-singles like Tomorrow Never Knows, Fool On The Hill, You've Got To Hide Your LOve Away and many many more - cos they are of course my fave act of all-time. Changed everything! smile.gif

Hooray for the approval! I ended up making a playlist for my top 50 last night and it's all I've been listening to for walking to and from work today! I would be here for any other rates/games in the future by the way *.* will start with the aforementioned survivor tomorrow.

(I'm also pleased about the rise in popularity for 'Here Comes The Sun' - such a beautiful and hopeful song heart.gif)

Radio 2 has a mammoth amount of programming over the next 4 days (44 shows ohmy.gif) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of 'Abbey Road', starting at 9:30am tomorrow!

Here's the schedule: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07ktp01/b...dcasts/upcoming

So much to digest there!! I'm particularly looking forward to the chart related stuff. Will catch what I can although all 44 may be a big ask laugh.gif

Well my favourite album is Revolver so most songs come from that:

For No One
Dr Robert
I'm Only Sleeping
Got To Get You Into My Life
Here, There and Everywhere
Eleanor Rigby

Other songs I love -

Fool on the Hill
Hello Goodbye
Paperback Writer
I'm Looking Through You
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Piggies
Strawberry Fields Forever
And I Love Her
Things We Said Today

To be honest - it would be easier to list the Beatles songs that I dislike!

I love Here, There And Everywhere too. Emmylou Harris did a great version which was a minor hit in 1976 too.

Already having list regrets as I forgot about 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)' - the guitar work in that song is stunning wub.gif

They have too many songs, a top 50 simply isn't enough kink.gif
