BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Another Adele Poll

Posted by: vidcapper 17th November 2015, 07:25 AM

Of the 11 tracks on her new album, how will they do in the single chart next week, given the likely impact of streams/cherry-picks?

Also, given how many people predicted her album sales in the top category of my previous poll, I thought it might be an idea to redo it with higher categories. Plus many of you may well wish to revise your predictions in the light of Hello's performance...

Posted by: Danvember 17th November 2015, 07:28 AM

I still doubt Adele's album will be put up for streaming, so in that case I can see one album track going top 75 unless she starts promoting a new single already.

First week sales of 500k+

I don't know why it wouldn't be streamable? huh.gif

BTW, I read that Oasis's 'Be Here Now' sold 350k on day 1 - Adele's Friday release might prevent her from beating that mark, but her weekend sales will probably cause supermarket cash registers to go into meltdown. tongue.gif

I went very bold with my predictions. I picked it to sell just under 500 K, and for 6 to 10 album tracks to be in the top 75. Justin Bieber has a good few songs from Purpose in the top 75 and I can imagine Adele performing better because, well because she's Adele. I'm mainly curious about how long Adele will stay number one album for consecutively. I'd love to see a poll on that

Why should it be harder to sell albums on Friday than Thursday? I thought the whole move of the standard release day was based on the opposite assumption.

I went for 1 in the top 10/20 as I think Hello will be the highest placed.

I think maybe a second inside the top 40 especially as I believe she released a live performance teaser clip of the second single.

Top 75 could see the majority debut so I went for 6-10.

Album sales I think 500k-600k is achievable!

Posted by: Envoirment 17th November 2015, 08:45 PM

If it's up for streaming, I think all album tracks will be in the top 75 with 2-3 in the top 10 and 4-5 in the top 40.

In terms of the album, I'm going to go out on a limb and say it'll sell 1 million+ copies in the first week. The hype surrounding the album is unreal.

25 is now up to #2 on Amazon's best sellers of the year (behind Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour).

Posted by: steve201 17th November 2015, 09:06 PM

So how many would it have sold?

I was thinking in terms of the demographics of their respective fanbases - Adele's would be older, and therefore more likely to be working on weekdays than Oasis's was.

I picked exactly what majority picked.

2 songs T10, 3 songs T20, 5 songs T40 and 10 songs T75.

Album will sell between 600k-700k.

Don't think she'll beat Oasis or Take That

On that subject, here a list of best 1st week album sales :

Think the whole album will be top 75.
1,078,000 first week uk album sales.
3,150,000 us first week album sales.
I'm refuse to underestimate her.

Must admit I'm intrigued as to why 2 people picked the <200k option - her last album sold more than that in *February*!

Maybe they thought I meant first *day* sales. wink.gif

Posted by: Liаm 18th November 2015, 10:12 AM

Just one in the top 10 - obviously Hello.
Not sure about any others going top 20 without streaming... Although this is Adele tbf, I'm sure one or two at the very least will catch on! Maybe Send My Love as it's much more contemporary sounding.
Sales prediction is still gonna be about 600k for me. She'll beat Progress in sales, but not Be Here Now, I imagine.

I don't get either, Friday is known everywhere for the biggest shopping day of the week, and it doesn't matter if people are working, children are in the same time in school.

While it's true that people can download music at any time, Adele is likely to sell a lot of physical CD's, so people are more likely to buy those at the weekend, rather than traipse out to the shops after school/work on Friday.

clearly you don't really understand customer's behaviour smile.gif

For a longawaited album people WILL go out on the first day and buy the physical copy and will not wait just because they were in the school or at work.
Look at for example when Apple launches a new product, people are queuing in front of the store just to get it on the first day (!) even if it costs a lot of money.

But anyway she will not beat the Oasis record but not because of your logic, but because sales have collapsed so much. If she sells 500k in the first week she'll be lucky but on the long run it will be a very good-seller.

Posted by: jay727 18th November 2015, 10:59 AM

I think it'll be around 400k which will be incredible given the climate. Can't see her hitting 500k in a week in the UK
