Hooverphonic Romantic - Chart Statistics NE (23/06/2018) | 34-24-18-21-20-9-17-28-32-49-62-78-80-86-89-95-xx Video Commentary This is the one of the few songs I heard and very quickly decided 'BJSC NEEDS to hear this'. Hooverphonic have had probably most of the women of Belgium as their lead singer but they've now started afresh with Luka, and I love her voice so much! It's one of those things where she sounds 'bored' but in a way that makes the song incredibly easy to sing along to. I love all the 'don't take me to xyz, just take me back home' - it's just so carefree and wonderful in its own way. It was beginning to stabilise a bit in my chart when of course it finished Top 10 in BJSC, hence the one week in the Top 10 here, but it went on to be a classic for me. COIN Simple Romance - Chart Statistics NE (24/11/2018) | 39-4-3-... Video Commentary From a song about a woman saying she's not romantic to a band who quite clearly are. This one didn't take very long at all to grow, the chorus is insanely catchy and the way he says things as if he's always breathing out makes the song stick out in my head. Not sure how long this will last on my chart but I've veered on the edge of caution here because I can't see it having that much longevity. Top 100 Chart History 2018 03 Simple Romance |

The Knocks Ride Or Die (ft. Foster the People) - Chart Statistics NE (30/06/2018) | 11-7-6-6-5-8-14-23-35-59-74-84-xx Video Commentary Okay maybe this is a little (or maybe a LOT) too low. I've just seen where Brazilian Soul is in my Top 100 atm and it shouldn't be that high so let's deduct 100 or so points from it Anyway, I refused to chart Best Friend because Mr and Mrs Sofi Tukker felt the need to throw expletives all around it, but I was certainly looking for new Knocks music as I was impressed, and this was exactly what I was looking for. Foster the People have released loads of new music and somehow none of it bar this has cracked my charts, but their contribution to this is amazing! Alexander Rybak That's How You Write A Song - Chart Statistics NE (19/05/2018) | 9-6-4-4-7-14-26-24-39-57-79-82-87-96-xx Video Commentary Goodness knows why the guy decided to try his hand at Eurovision again when he'd already won the thing, but it meant I had to wait an extra two months to get my hands on this. It was worth the wait though, and whilst there are tons of people labelling it as 'cheesy' and 'uninspiring', I think it's a really fun piece of music and just captures what Rybak does so well. I actually disliked him quite a bit when he won Eurovision but even Fairytale's grown on me now and he's one of my favourite pop singers of this generation. Nevermind has to be my fave from this chart so far.
Make sure the Eurovision forum regulars don't ever find out about this EOY too Found it hilarious how much Alexander Rybak wound everyone up this year, though to be fair it isn't that great of a song. |

Hey Pete <3 So much to catch up here haha!!
Agree with 4 out of 5 of your hatechart, I lowkey stan Girls Like You Yasss at your top 2 tho, both utterly vile songs *.* I hate Be Alright oops, tho the last song I love from your mainstream award winners is I Gotta Feeling oops!! On the other hand, Love Monster is easily my fave of your top albums of each years; such a good album & I Said Hi is utterly fab <3 Poor These Days x Lowkey a bop. YASSSSSS FUEGO *.* My bop, it still goes off so badly <3 So agree with you this year was such a comeback for Eurovision! Last year was weak af (I think one song made my top 100 last year and that was in the 91-100 section but like 5 songs are contending for my top 50 this year!) My Way is also a bop and by far the best thing the inferior Cyrus sister has put her name to *.* Monsters is also incredible & my other Eurovision fave of 2018 <3 <3 I still bop to it so much and it's such a strong single from Saara <3 High Five is also a bop, even if it's not up there with Sigrid's best haha Though we also have Lukas Graham and that utter HORROR of the Norway 2018 Eurovision entry here so countdown cancelled x |

Make sure the Eurovision forum regulars don't ever find out about this EOY too Found it hilarious how much Alexander Rybak wound everyone up this year, though to be fair it isn't that great of a song. I knew it annoyed some people but didn't realise it wound up a whole forum I quite like it obviously Thanks Dan! Hi Pete!! Catching up at last. Blinded By Your Grace, Shotgun, Nevermind and Monsters are my favourites so far Glad you like these - thanks Joseph! Hey Pete <3 So much to catch up here haha!! (and the other two Eurovisions might not be your thing also) Thanks Sam! Guess who has an HMV Exclusive CD of KT Tunstall's Kin? Anne Hegarty? Yaay Hooverphonic! and Foster the People! You'll have to check out some of their other songs Pete I feel like they'd be up your street I've heard a few from the last few years, and I quite liked Sit Next To Me but it was WAY after it was released so couldn't really chart it! Claudia Leitte Carnaval (ft. Pitbull) - Chart Statistics NE (03/02/2018) | 46-23-1-7-13-18-26-39-57-80-82-89-xx Video Commentary I don't think I'll be able to churn another three of these out now but here's another #1 dropping out to give you something interesting to look at, containing two of the performers who led the 2014 World Cup (gosh, that was four years ago ) This reached #1 after I didn't fancy These Days staying there for two weeks, and I heard this again on the bus to Center Parcs and thought 'well this sounds like a pretty decent #1'. It headed up an all-new Top 3 consisting of Owl City and One Bit, and whilst initially fell pretty harshly, it actually had a decent amount of longevity and stuck around for another 9 weeks. Kideko Dum Dum (ft. Tinie Tempah & Becky G) - Chart Statistics NE (30/09/2017) | 36-21-16-12-9-19-31-53-66-72-79-77-92-88-89-xx Video Commentary Whilst one contributing artist to mega-smash Crank It had a song called Zum Zum, another had a song called Dum Dum Although this sort-of highlights the issue with my counting scheme as this actually only spent two weeks in the Top 100 in 2018 - the rest of its run was in 2017. But it deserves its glory so here we go. What I love most about this song is its absolutely horrendous approach to rhyming where ijt feels like Tinie is just sticking any word that sort-of rhymes into the verse despite it not making any sense. Heartbreaker, heartbreak / The way you while so nahh-tey / faster than my Ferrari / Come and take a safari / Espanyol et la Francais / Vodka switch to Bacardi / all she do is get mahh-ney / ALL SHE DO IS GET MAHH-NEY!. I mean, that verse means absolutely nothing does it? Top 100 Chart History Kideko 2016 01 Crank It (Kideko & Goeerge Kwali ft. Nadia Rose & Sweetie Irie) 2017 09 Dum Dum (Kideko ft. Lost Tiger Believe In Me - Chart Statistics NE (13/10/2018) | 60-47-42-32-29-24-14-11-11-19-... Video Commentary So we go from a song which only touched my chart in 2018 to one that's still in my chart now. I first came across identical twin indie duo Lost Tiger when they performed at York Fresher's Festival. We got there just as they were finishing but oh well, I had their name down and went to see what they'd put out. Everything except this was a cover (well this might be as well, but it would be a cover of a VERY obscure song which would be a bit weird ) This might by my most non-mainstream pick, with less than 1000 YouTube views and the only comment saying 'Boys message me please it's important'. I wonder if they did. Top 100 Chart History 2018 11 Believe In Me |

Boy Azooga Jerry - Chart Statistics NE (21/07/2018) | 93-94-76-70-50-52-45-43-38-34-28-29-31-40-53-66-77-77-72-86-86-85-... Video Commentary So here's the lowest peaking song to get into my Top 100. The definition of a slow burner if you were ever to see one in my chart, and if you were to listen to the song now it might not grab you initially. But I was lucky enough to give it time (thanks to wanting to follow up the amazing Face Behind Her Cigarette from UP) and the smooth guitar beat is one of those which can really just mould into your memories and get stuck in your head during some amazing experiences, and that's what that song reminds me of now as well as being an exceptionally amazing song. Loud Luxury Love No More (ft. anders) - Chart Statistics NE (13/10/2018) | 24-11-10-12-11-11-15-22-36-50- Video Commentary Now Body was pretty catchy, but... a bit too much for me really This follow-up however, as follow-ups often do for me, was a perfect track to dance along to. A very similar beat to Body, however with less graphic lyrics (although not an amazing music video). It only managed one week in the Top 10 thanks to the album release of a certain fave of mine, but stuck around for quite a bit longer. And unlike brando, I can actually find out some info about anders online.
