And so we come to the end of another era. Bowing out in a very respectable second place is 'Marry The Night', the album's opening track and the final song to be released from the album. A beautiful song in so many ways - that SUBLIME production mixed together with her soaring vocals and heart-breaking lyrics. A song about defiance in the face of adversities and powering on just when you think you must give up. The "night" means so much, at times it is the personal struggles Gaga has gone through and others it is the universal darkness that can engulf all of us. As she sings of embracing this darkness the song culminates in that hectic middle-8 which is almost the honeymoon to the song's wedding. Really should have got an earlier release in the album's campaign, a huge song with so much lost potential </3 But you rating it your second favourite track here has made up for it 01. The Edge of Glory 02. Marry The Night (24 votes, 70.59%) 03. Judas (17 votes, 56.67%) 04. Born This Way (15 votes, 50.00%) 05. Scheiße (11 votes, 32.35%) 06. Hair (11 votes, 40.74%) 07. Heavy Metal Lover (9 votes, 47.37%) 08. Government Hooker (6 votes, 28.57%) 09. Bloody Mary (10 votes, 38.46%) 10. Yoü and I (10 votes, 33.33%) 11. Highway Unicorn (Road to Love) (13 votes, 37.14%) 12. Americano (8 votes, 29.63%) 13. Electric Chapel (11 votes, 36.67%) 14. Fashion of His Love (12 votes, 42.86%) 15. Black Jesus + Amen Fashion (10 votes, 40.00%) 16. The Queen (10 votes, 40.00%) 17. Bad Kids (10 votes, 32.26%) Which means the winner is of course 'The Edge of Glory'. When the song premiered Gaga explained that it was about the final moments she spent with her grandfather. Featuring a glorious saxophone accompaniment from Clarence Clemons, wonderful vocals, teary lyrics and an explosive chorus it is truly one of her great moments. One of the most accomplished pop songs of recent times in my opinion for all of the complex, yet intricately simple things it accomplishes. No other song from Gaga can make you feel so elated at one moment, and then so heart-broken and devastated the next - it's the power of a truly great song to evoke such strong emotions so effortlessly. Some were disappointed at the music video but for me it matches the simplicity of the song. As Gaga spins around Clarence, kissing the streets she has walked on, glaring into the camera at her devoted fans and remembers her grandfather so tenderly, the song, about death, loss and goodbyes, is brought to spectacular life. A very worthy winner from a highly glory-filled album. |

Fantastic winner "The Edge Of The Glory" is just glorious and totally agree about "Marry The Night" being released sooner, this is how the BTW era should have went =
Born This Way Marry The Night The Edge Of Glory Judas ScheiBe then a 6th possible single if was successful between "Government Hooker", "You & I" or even "Hair". |

It's definitely the best single on the album, so can't argue with it winning.

Sad I missed this but I actually CANNOT BELIEVE Bad Kids was last. Come the f*** on! I know it's not exactly loved but it's got hooks for MILES and MILES and it's probably in my BTW top 3. You're all clinically insane.
Americano so low also a TRAVESTY. |
