Euro 2020 starts in just under 3 weeks time, Who do you think will be crowned European football champions on the 11th of July? and how far do you think England will go in the tournament?

I've gone for Spain and think Quarter Finals for England. I do feel the tournament this year is wide open, I don't think this Spain side are particularly great (certainly nowhere near 2008-2010) but I think they are dark horses. Some good players, but not quite the household names. Suspect Portugal could do quite well, but it's just a bit of a lottery with themselves Germany and France all in the same group. France have the best squad on paper but I'm not sure they play particularly well together. That said, Benzema back for them is huge.
I'm just totally unsure about England. Our defence is very average and I'm not convinced we can grind results out and face a significant amount of pressure from the better sides, that tends to be the pattern in tournament football. Maguire and Stones is probably our best partnership and I'd rate that fairly average as a pair and both liable of individual errors. |

Don’t the second place team in England’s group play Germany/Portugal in the next round?
Haven’t checked the draw etc just reading through the World Soccer squad lists at the moment. Picked Portugal to retain the title and England to get to the q-finals! |

I've gone for Belgium to win the tournament and England to get to the Quarter Finals. This is probably the most unpredictable European Championship that there's ever been and there's no real clear favourite to win. A more tiring than usual club season could have an effect on what happens in the tournament as well. I've gone for Belgium to win though because of the quality that they have throughout their team and how well they performed at the last World Cup.

I think England have a great chance to win this year. Looking at the squads that have been announced and I think only France, Portugal & Belgium can match the level of depth and quality we have (and even in our expanded 33 man squad we haven't picked anyone as average as Nacer Chadli or Thomas Vermaelen). In the qualifiers in March, Denmark were the only side that played as consistently well than we did, and with some players winning the Champions League & (hopefully) Europa League and the home advantage I think were better suited than anyone to win.
Cup competitions are always a bit of a lottery but I genuinely feel like England are my favourites going into this tournament. |

Cup competitions are always a bit of a lottery but I genuinely feel like England are my favourites going into this tournament. Home advantage will help but England's big problem will be our defence, it's average enough with Stones and Maguire, never mind if Maguire isn't fit. I'm just not convinced that we have the defence and even protection from the rest of the team to withstand a sustained amount of pressure. We will need to dig in deep at some stage as it's often the case in tournament football. I'm also not convinced that Southgate knows his best team or formation. |

Surprised more haven’t opted for Italy, look revitalised after missing the World Cup and don’t have a team of all stars which could be good for them! They should do very well. They have no "superstars" and not many players who play in the Premier League but they have the defence which is crucial in a major tournament. |

Yeah fair play for that, would never in a million years have considered Italy winners pre-tournament so a very astute shout!
