12th May 2024

It's 2 weeks on top for Pet Shop Boys gorgeous New London Boy, the first time they've done that since Burn topped my charts. Still picking the wrong album tracks as singles then.... biggrin.gif Plenty others still climbing though from Nonetheless. Cat Burns grabs another top 10, but the big event of the week was Eurovision, lots of good entries but not as many great entries as the last few years, I thought. My highest new entry is from a guest spot from Alcazar reforming with their 2001 chart-topper Crying At The Discoteque at 17.

Sweden's Marcus & Martinus top the new tracks and is the biggest climber at 21, Switzerland's winning The Code is new at 31 for Nemo, Spain's disco ZORRA is in at 44 for Nebulossa, last year's winner Loreen topped my charts, and she returns with new track plugged Forever at 71, and Kaleen and Tali new in at 83 and 84. When I was nipper my fave pop star for a while was Kathy Kirby, but by the time I started doing personal charts in 1968 her career was long over. I rediscovered a classic dramatic gem in You're The One this week, so she gets her first ever chart appearance 60 years' late, though she would likely have had a number one with Spanish Flea which I was mad on at the time.

Finally, Travis get a second track on the chart as they go top 40 with Gaslight, it's Raze The Bar at 78 with a not-name-dropping none-credit from Chris Martin and Brandon Flowers joining in. Missing a real boost there, so I've credited them, just because.

Hey John - your last chart was also dated 5th May!

Big yes to 'Crying At The Discotheque', that sounded great during the interval!

Hey John, you need to get these late charts under control tongue.gif

Good luck babe is superb isn't it. I'm intrigued to hear what she does next now despite my not charting this one yet.
Too sweet unfortunately heading down a tad early. Hopefully it'll have a gracefully descent.
Oooh, Austin still climbing, I can't complain despite it's slow rise here.
The Schlager Hit parade is superb. I'm surprised it's not climbed or is higher for you so far.
I'm loving illusion right now. It's brilliant. So much easier on the ears than the majority of the album.
Come on fortnight, you got this. John, definitely listen to the remix I told you about cause that will improve the standing of it for you, I'm sure.

Hey James! smile.gif

Yes Good Luck Babe is fab, still growing on me and very different from her last 2 pop stompers. Too Sweet still sounding good, but not dropped out yet smile.gif Yes, everyone seems to love Schlager - where I merely like it quite a bit laugh.gif Illusion is hanging in there but the new album tracks Ive heard so far are not up to Future Nostalgia quality based on one play, sadly!

Fortnight still sounding pleasant, playing the CYRIL remix now, yes it gives it a bit more oomph, though not sure if I like it more than the original, the laid-back version seems classy even if it's very wistfully gentle.

cheers for the comments! cool.gif
