Robbie Williams' Official Top 40 biggest selling singles
10 November 2016 | By Justin Myers

As Rob returns with new album The Heavy Entertainment Show, we count down his big ones.

The world of pop would be a duller place without Robbie Williams, and that's why we're glad he is back back BACK with his first new album in three years, The Heavy Entertainment Show.

In a solo career spanning 20 years, Robbie has scored 34 Top 40 hits, of which 31 went Top 10, with seven of those going all the way to Number 1, so what better way to mark his triumphant return than with a look back at his biggest sellers.

Before we show the whole Top 40, here are some highlights:

Angels
Out in front is the song that saved Robbie's solo career and also proves you don't have to get to Number 1 to be a massive, much-loved song. Angels stalled at Number 4, but has sold over 1.2 million copies, was voted the best song of the previous 25 years at the 2005 BRIT Awards and is apparently the song most Brits would like played at their funeral. Angels, you see?

Candy
At 2, it's Robbie's most recent Number 1, written with his old Take That bandmate Gary Barlow. It is, interestingly, the only other song of the 2010s to make Robbie's Top 20. Its sales this week stand at 707,707 copies, which is pretty cool if you're a bit of a numbers geek (which w are, obviously – it's what we do)

Rock DJ
Way back in 2000, Robbie caused huge controversy with his third bestseller Rock DJ. It wasn't his rapping that caused the issue – although he would try it out again to a mixed reaction with Rudebox in 2006, his 26th bestseller – it was the video. Robbie ripped off his flesh and fed it to some cannibalistic rollerskating models (as you do) and TV channels had a bit of a meltdown and wouldn't show the whole thing before 9pm. Its sales tally stands at 680,000.

She's The One
Robbie's fourth biggest seller is a cover and gave Robbie his second Number 1, with over 503,000 copies sold.

Millennium
Robbie's very first chart-topper, the lead single from his second album I've Been Expecting You, sampled a James Bond theme (Nancy Sinatra's You Only Live Twice) and was a BIG event. Only fitting then, that it should be fifth on his countdown, with 497,000 sales.

Collaborations
Robbie's top-selling duet is with Hollywood megastar Nicole Kidman, who teamed up with Rob on a cover of Frank and Nancy Sinatra's Somethin' Stupid. Another Nancy connection? Rob must be a big fan. It scored the Official Christmas Number 1 for 2001 and has sold almost 385,000 copies.

Kids, 2000's ballsy team-up with Kylie Minogue, complete with raunchy video, comes in 14th with 240,000 sales, while Robbie's reunion with old rival Gary Barlow, Shame, is right behind in 15th, with 229,000 copies shifted.

Robbie hooked up with Dizzee Rascal on Goin' Crazy in 2013, and its 155,000 sales help it make his all-time Top 20, and She's Madonna, with the Pet Shop Boys (but not Madonna, sadly) is in 35th place.

Other notable entries
Radio is Robbie's lowest selling Number 1, released when singles sales were low as a result of illegal downloading, in 2004, and scores just over 100,000 sales, coming in 23rd. Robbie's top seller not to chart at all is Mr Bojangles, from his first swing album Swing When You're Winning in 2001, making his Top 30.

Some absolute classics in that list wub.gif it's a shame he hasn't had more than one million seller but obviously he more than makes up for that with album sales.

It's hard to pick a favourite from that list but I wish Feel and Lazy Days were a few places higher. Also sales for Old Before I Die seem really low for a #2 single!

Hit producer Guy Chambers announces debut album: his biggest Official Chart hits with Robbie Williams revealed
19 March 2019 | By Helen Ainsley

Guy Chambers, the hit producer and long-time songwriting partner of Robbie Williams, has announced his debut album.

Go Gentle Into The Light will feature piano versions of eleven of the hit singles the pair worked on together including Angels, Millennium and Feel. The instrumental record is due for release on May 3 via BMG.

"I chose the music that I thought would lend itself to solo piano, they were not chosen as part of a greatest hits exercise," Guy said of the album's hit-studded tracklist. "I thought it would be nice for them to be heard in their pure melodic form."

Guy produced seven of Robbie's UK Number 1 albums, and though the pair stopped working alongside one-another in 2002, they have since reunited with various projects currently lined up including a new Robbie Williams album.

Check out the full tracklist below:

1. The Road To Mandalay
2. Heaven From Here
3. Go Gentle
4. Supreme
5. Grace
6. Better Man
7. No Regrets
8. Feel
9. Angels
10. Millennium
11. Eternity

More of Guy's writing and production credits lie with albums and songs from artists including Beverley Knight, Mel C and Example.

Guy was also one of the catalysts behind the release of The Justice Collective’s charity single He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother in aid of the families of the Hillsborough tragedy. Featuring Paloma Faith, Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams and Mel C among others, it was 2012’s Official Christmas Number 1.

To mark the forthcoming album, we've taken a look at the Top 10 biggest singles Guy and Robbie worked on together.

Two tracks on the all-time Top 10 are duets: pop banger Kids with Kylie Minogue (10) and a cover of Somethin' Stupid by C. Carson Parks - popularised by Frank and Nancy Sinatra. The Robbie Williams version - which Guy produced - featured Nicole Kidman (7) and went straight to Number 1, remaining there for 3 weeks.

1998 wedding disco classic Let Me Entertain You features at Number 6; to date it’s sold 445,500 combined units including over 360,000 physical and digital download sales.

Super-smooth single Millennium comes in hot at Number 4, with 541,000 combined sales. The string-laden track was Robbie’s first Number 1 single, debuting at the top in September 1998.

The pair's Number 1 song? What else but Angels. Robbie’s bestselling single – and one of the most recognisable ballads of all time – was written by Guy and Robbie based on an earlier version by Ray Hefferman.

Surprisingly, it didn't reach the top spot of the Official Singles Chart, only peaking at Number 4 in February 1998. Despite this it has over 1.5 million combined sales and has shifted 1.2 million physical CDs and digital downloads. It's also the most streamed track on the list by over 10.6 million audio and video plays.

Guy Chambers' Top 10 biggest hits with Robbie Williams:

"Feel" still sounds amazing! It should be in Top 5. "Rock DJ" was SO overplayed when it was released. Hated it then, still hate now. I have a soft spot for "Tripping". wub.gif

Otherwise, a great selection of Robbie tracks.

I think most of that list has aged pretty well to be fair. It's actually the stuff he's put out within the last 10 years or so that's aged the worst imo!
