BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Worst Top 5 Chart Runs?

Does anyone know what the worst chart run for a top 5 single is? The worst I can remember is 9-74 for Union J.

Yep, not even a single week in the top 5 for that one!

On the same topic, there was Union J's 2-34-71-out run for 'You Got It All', which must be up there for a 'naturally' falling single (i.e. not related to a campaign or anything).

Otherwise, Alex Day's 4-out of the top 100 for the single I can't recall the name of must take it?

2-34 is another Union J, I think

Forever Yours, yep that's the definite "winner" here.

there was Forever Yours and Ding-Dong The Witch Is Dead, which both fell out the chart altogether the following week (EDIT: actually the latter did have a 2nd week, ignore me~)

Ding-Dong fell to about #67ish I think so not quite as bad as Alex Day.

This one is regularly brought up as the biggest faller from the top 5 in the 90s:

Placebo - You Don't Care About Us 5-26-40-45-64

Which is a shame, as it's one of my favourite songs ever.

Most shameful # 1 ever :

Killing In The Name : 1-2-40-100-OUT

Doves - There Goes The Fear 3-34-70-OUT

One of the best songs of the decade, it dates from the CD era (2002) and the single was a limited edition that was released and deleted on the same day, hence the low chart run. Definitely worth a listen!

McFly's last few singles were quite bad chart wise???

Oh and all the Elvis reissues from 2005, particularly 'I Got Stung' going 1-20.

It may not have got as high as no.3 if it hadn't been a limited edition, I guess that was part of the novelty for some buyers who may have either waited or never bought it at all.

That said, it's a nice little song although I always preferred follow up Pounding which should have been HUGE but sadly wasn't sad.gif
