Hi I think it would be a good idea to have a general discussion place for this years Oscars! Of course bigger events like nominations, predictions and the actual ceremony will get their own threads and this thread is more to hype/anticipate what is going to happen over the lead up to the nominations and awards and big news.

Anyway I'll start with a couple and please post replies to what you think will happen and any news you see!

Make-Up and Hairstyling Shortlist Revealed
QUOTE
“Black Mass” (Warner Bros.)
“Concussion” (Sony Pictures)
“Legend” (Universal Pictures)
“Mad Max: Fury Road” (Warner Bros.)
“Mr. Holmes” (Roadside Attractions)
“The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared” (Buena Vista)
“The Revenant” (20th Century Fox)

^3 will get nominated from these 7!
Shocked to see Carol + The Danish Girl missing from this and quite a lot of the big effects movies! Especially shocked to see 100 year old man...... in with a chance of getting nominated ohmy.gif
Hoping the final 3 will be Mad Max, Black Mass & The Revenant
Will Alicia Vikander and Rooney Mara stay in supporting actress or will they move to lead actress?
QUOTE
One thing that is unknown is whether Vikander (for The Danish Girl) and Mara (for Carol) will stay in supporting actress where they are campaigning or be moved to lead actress which is what both are supposedly in their movies. Golden Globes moved them both to lead actress for their nominations! Also Vikander is now receiving quite a lot of hype for her supporting-role in Ex_Machina which got a Golden Globe nomination! What do you think will happen?

Visual Effects Shortlist Revealed
QUOTE
“Ant-Man” (Marvel)
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” (Marvel)
“Ex Machina” (A24)
“Jurassic World” (Universal)
“Mad Max: Fury Road” (Warner Bros.)
“The Martian” (20th Century Fox)
“The Revenant” (20th Century Fox)
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (Walt Disney)
“Tomorrowland” (Walt Disney)
“The Walk” (Sony Pictures)
Everest really the only surprise not to be there. I'd predict Ex_Machina, Jurassic World, Mad Max, The Martian & Star Wars. Can also see Avengers/Revenant getting nominated but can't see Ant-Man/Tomorrowland (unfortunately)/The Walk being nominated!

112 Scores submitted, no Revenant but there is Star Wars!
