Think this is probably the strongest set of five nominees in any category that I've seen at the Oscars, for me. Every one of these just steals their scenes from the other actors on screen (perhaps with the exception of Sally Hawkins but she still has her moments and holds her own against Cate Blanchett, one of the best living actresses).

My ranking:
1 Lupita Nyong'o "12 Years a Slave"
2 Jennifer Lawrence "American Hustle"
3 Julia Roberts "August: Osage County"
4 June Squibb "Nebraska"
5 Sally Hawkins "Blue Jasmine"

That changes all the time though and tbh they would all win in basically any other year for me. Lupita provides so much emotion to her role and her scenes are some of the most difficult to watch. Lawrence is a huge scene-stealer (science oven scene = AMAZING!) and brings so much to her small role that no other actress would be able to do. It was so nice to see Julia Roberts in a less glamorous role and she is hilarious in August.. (EAT THE FISH BITCH is the single best line in a movie ever laugh.gif). June Squibb was also hilarious and all I could do was watch her in the scenes she appeared in, everything she said was so funny and delivered the comedy so well. I probably preferred Sally Hawkins to Blanchett tbh and still have to put her last here but she's a fabulous actress and thought she had a great role in this.

Such a strong year for this category, I'd love to put in Margot Robbie and Scarlett Johansson in the line-up too but it's hard to find them a spot really. I'm sure Oprah was also great although I haven't seen her film.
