Also the US Box Office estimates are in

1 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - $145,049,000
2 The Fate of the Furious - $8,528,965
3 The Boss Baby - $6,175,000
4 How to Be a Latin Love -$5,250,000
5 Beauty and the Beast - $4,943,000

The last Guardians opened at $94,320,883 in the USA so that number is great, hoping it's going to become the third billion dollar grossing movie of the year biggrin.gif

Here's an update on how things are looking worldwide now too:
1 Beauty and the Beast - $1,185,694,615
2 The Fate of the Furious - $1,158,336,495
3 Logan - $606,189,613
4 Kong: Skull Island - $562,492,080
5 The Boss Baby - $434,948,532

I didn't even notice that The Boss Baby had been making money like that, that's a pretty good number worldwide. Better than Trolls and Home did for them!

Had I already heard murmurings about the potential for a Boss Baby sequel? Should definitely be on the cards given the numbers!

Massive yes at the kiss from Moonlight winning an award, it was my favourite scene from the movie and it warms my heart when something LGBT related gets recognition like this laugh.gif

King Arthur has completely bombed at the box office with just a $14m opening in America! ohmy.gif

To put things into perspective, that is worse than the 3 day weekend for the version from 13 years ago which also opened on Wednesday so it had already lost two days of business due to having a 5 day weekend!!

US Weekend Estimates!

TW / LW / Title / Weekend Gross / Worldwide Gross

1 (1) Guardians of the Galaxy 2 / $63 million / $630 million
2 (*) Snatched / $17.5 million / $20 million
3 (*) King Arthur: Legend of the Sword / $14.7 million / $43 million
4 (2) The Fate of the Furious / $5.3 million / $1.193 billion
5 (3) The Boss Baby / $4.6 million / $456 million

That debut for Snatched is almost half of the $30million opening that Trainwreck had, seems she's really suffering from some backlash at the moment. Trainwreck actually made $17million in its second weekend! laugh.gif

In other box office news, Furious 8 is now only $13 million away from overtaking BatB worldwide to be the biggest film of the year!

Hackers seem to have targeted Disney and stolen the upcoming Pirates movie and are threatening to release it early if they don't receive ransom money!

In other casting news, Johnny Depp has been cast as the McAfee creator in a biopic about him.

Power Rangers completely bombed in China (where it was expected to be big), only getting just $3.3m!

Alot of reports are saying the sequel is pretty much dead now! I hope not as I do think it can benefit more from a sequel, now that the characters have been established!

I really enjoyed the movie so I'm quite saddened by this! sad.gif

There's still Japan to go though (which is where the original show sourced from) so there's still a bit of hope, but not much!

Awww that's a shame about such a low opening in a territory that provides so much of the worldwide box office nowadays sad.gif I'm not even a big fan of the franchise but I loved the film and would've loved a sequel so I hope Japan can help it make some more money! Looking at the figures though, it's only up to $138 million worldwide with a $100 million production budget alone (not including marketing) so I guess a sequel isn't the most commercially viable sad.gif

Beauty and the Beast has entered the ALL-TIME worldwide highest grossing movies Top 10 list (overtaking Iron Man 3) and Furious 8 is currently 12th and not far behind either ! Frozen at 9th is in seeing distance now, I don't imagine that and HP8 will remain top 10 for much longer with the way movies are making mega bucks now!
