In hilarious news, Jason David Frank who played Tommy (green mmpr/white mmpr/ red zeo/ red turbo/ black dino thunder) is spamming his facebook, twitter and instagrams with the number of the press woman of Lionsgate films, to get them to demand he reprise his role as Tommy. I am not sure how delusional he is.

Ok, so I rewatched the original movie and a few of the first episodes recently (yes this is what school teachers do in their spare time) and I'm now fully on board for this and so glad we are going to see the original characters again. I went off PR when they went Zeo. Loved the first 3 seasons though, essential TV at age 5-7 in the mid 90s.

Also: Nice to see some form of confirmation on Rita being the baddie! The claim is that Rita Repulsa is if not the, at least one of the villains being used in the film...while the Red Ranger she will face is Zordon. Here's how HH described them -- which sounds a lot like a casting breakdown: Rita is “A huntress. A striking, yet subtly alien-looking woman. She carries a metallic staff topped with a distinctive crescent shape. Advances with a soldier’s confidence, guided by some sort of compass... Her staff is actually a device of immense power. She points it at the ground. Heads emerge, built layer upon layer like 3-D printing, made from the earth itself... The staff’s technology grants her the ability to create humanoid figures, soulless and robotic.” Zordon, meanwhile, is described like this: “Though alien, he looks like a man in his 50s. Sinewy and strong, as if carved from some root that refused to die. A being of integrity and iron will.” Saban’s Power Rangers opens on January 13, 2017. |

I am so on board for this, it's ridiculous. Can't remember where I stopped watching the show. Think I probably got about 3 seasons in before it went to hell, and the movie is obviously incredible in its awfulness.

I am so excited about this. Power Rangers is my geeky thing. So hopefully this is good. Especially after the disappointment of the 20th anniversary season. Such amazing source footage, so many bad uses.

If they're having the original characters they'll need to do something about the gender and racial stereotyping as it just won't go down now, people are too on it. They can't have the black power ranger being black, pink being girl, yellow being Asian etc. they'll need to mix it up.
