Think that's the first time as many as 4 would-be new entries have been denied by streaming, though may be wrong on that.

Absolutely horrible losses this week
The fact that shake it off, blank space and lighthouse all missed out (3 of the 4 best songs since 2014) and the amazing psycho also missed out OVER BLOODY ALL OF ME is actually heartbreaking |

Yeah this is quite a terrible week for losses I know streaming had to happen eventually in the chart but I'm not very keen on it still. |

Think that's the first time as many as 4 would-be new entries have been denied by streaming, though may be wrong on that. It has happened twice before, August and November of last year. Seven changes is also an equalling record. This post has been edited by zenon: 18th March 2015, 03:15 PM |

Idk if I have this right:
Week ending 28/03/2015 GAINS Sam Smith - Stay With Me (45-31) Alesso feat. Tove Lo - Heroes (We Could Be) (54-40) Sam Smith - Like I Can (41-29) Sam Smith - I'm Not The Only One (47-36) George Ezra - Budapest (42-33) LOSSES Chic f/Nile Rodgers - I'll Be There (39-79) Taylor Swift - Blank Space (26-46) Taylor Swift - Shake It Off (29-49) Iggy Azalea f/Jennifer Hudson - Trouble (32-52) Muse - Psycho (38-55) I only condone "Heroes (We Could Be)" gaining a week tbh. so that's the first bonafide UK top 40 sales hit denied a Top 75 place - Chic: not only a great record, it would have extended a chart run of top 40 hits to an amazing 37 years.
Lower down we have losses like madonna's Ghosttown and many others. Streaming is bad for the music business, it's bad for new and old acts and it's only good for a limited few huge records which outstay their welcome, appear to be bigger than they are (mostly it's the "albums" effect of huge albums artists Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and the like). yes people used to play huge albums for years after they were big, and the tracks often under-achieved in the singles chart, but now it's tipped the balance completely the other way and they just never go away, partly thanks to sales as well as streaming, but the pathetic state of the Official Singles Chart is entirely due to streaming. Have I mentioned how much I loathe it? Thought so |

Shake It Off equals Listen To The Man's record of most weeks lost with five!
