^^ On that note, the Elton follow up to "Are You Ready For Love?" (2003 re-release) was "All That I'm Allowed (Thankful)" which charted at #20.
Tasmin Archer followed up the excellent "Sleeping Satellite" (#1) with the excellent "In Your Care" (#16). |

Lil Nas X - Old Town Road -> TBC will be part of this list. And technically: Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper - Shallow -> Always Remember Us This Way #25 (was released a week later) Although I wouldn't call top 40 hit "not successful" in this day and age when songs actually have some longevity on charts. I think the problem with this thread is the "missing top 10" criteria in the opening post - there's hundreds of examples of this. Missing the top 40 is more of a genuine reason to call something a flop (but even then songs like Echame La Culpa were absolutely massive worldwide & I still wouldn't regard it as a flop over here as it got widespread bar & club play).

I’d argue differently in terms of It debuted at 20 whereas problem debuted at 1 which I would argue is unsuccessful (compared to her debuts now as well). It had much better longevity so you could argue going platinum is indeed successful. The forum name change has not helped to clear things up. Looking solely at chart placements is easier but more difficult to call a flop nowadays with streaming as with the amount of sales you can still rack up despite chart rankings. |

I seem to recall Break Free being excluded from the chart for the first few weeks it was selling on iTunes so its peak of #16 isn't an accurate reflection of its popularity.
