Sparks. Heroes. Unlike Ferry, the Mael Brothers remain heroes, constant, classy and 45 years worth of great music. I loved them from the moment I heard the opening tinkling of This Town... for the first time.

Totally agree with this (not surprisingly given my comments above). They are still a superb live act too. When they did a series of gigs playing each of their albums in turn I went to the Plagiarism one. And, yes, Jimmy Somerville did turn up to do his bit. Unfortunately I think their image led a lot of people to dismiss them as a novelty act but they definitely were (and are) not.

Too right. Oh how I wish I'd got tickets for the Kimono My House gig... honestly I would have been sobbing with nostalgic joy. Wouldn't be the first time I've done that... laugh.gif

I've just listened to Kimono My House for the first time for a while. What a wonderful album. It was noticeable that the number of tweets before the programme to mention Sparks was probably the highest in anticipation of a performance since Kate Bush's first appearance.

These words still make me shudder.

Watching The Sparks, Mr Mael on keyboards was funny. I loved The Sparks comeback single in 1994 When Do I Get To Sing My Way (sounds very pet shop boys)
