I do hope we get ‘normal’ housemates from all walks of life but the reality TV landscape is completely different to the C4 era. C4 era was much more slower whereas all reality TV now is so fast paced in the editing and the drama. Audiences now expect drama on Day 0 which ain’t happening unless you have people performing for the camera. If the first series was aired now, it’d be taken off air after a week.
I’d say the last C5 series was back to basics and more along the vision of what I’m expecting from the ITV series. I know it had already been cancelled at that point but it wasn’t as though that was able to attract the audience. I just think what people say they want and what they then actually want are different. The internet has also changed reality TV massively. Nowadays if you want to be famous in some way, it’s pretty easy with TikTok/Insta etc and so I’m sure they’ll be at least one or two with a big online following.
