BuzzJack Music Forum _ Buzzjack Song Contest _ Buzzjack Mountain National Thread

Buzzjack Mountain

Buzzjack Mountain represents the largest mountain in Buzzjackia and is ruled by a man known only as The Mountain Marquis. The capital of Buzzjack Mountain is called High Citadel.

The flag of Buzzjack Mountain is unique in that it consists entirely of Buzzjack symbols. The Mountain Marquis refers to use these glorious symbols, provided by the world of Buzzjack to design his flag.

The meaning of the flag is that it depicts The Mountain Marquis's vast army and the general in the centre watched from the Marquis himself from the top of Buzzjack Mountain in the background.

Indeed I shall enter it then. The citizens of Buzzjack mountain have, due to the lack of oxygen up there, a different sense of hearing to most in Buzzjackia and have their own, distinct musical taste.

Yes a deal to supply jade from the mines of Jadakissnia will need to be sorted out soon. In return the citizens of Jadakissnia have access to the crater of Buzzjack Mountain to listen to any new entries to the contest, the crater has the best acoustics in Buzzjackia.

We dont have to name you in the track though you can be an uncredited vocalist. Anyway this sounds like it might be a hit with your great vocal, it is a bit like 'Girls Like' you are the Tinie Tempah bit in the verses and my vocals are the Zara Larsson style chorus. laugh.gif

A letter from The Snake, the King of Buzzjack Mountain

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Sirs/Madams

Its good to have joined BJSC. The problem is I have to wait until September. Thats the Buzzjackian Union red tape and bureaucracy. I am a BU sceptic and he was going to put forward a so called Snakexit referendum to the people in my country but the economic risks would be too great of leaving. We would lose access to the jade mines of Jadakissnia and the famous Bre cheese, the staple food of Buzzjackia. Most importantly it would increase our chances of getting nil points in the contest significantly and a bad BJSC performance would lead to a downgrade of credit rating in Buzzjack Mountain and a rush on our one bank at the steepest side of the mountain which would lead to people slipping on the mountain. It would be a very foolish decision indeed.

We must remain good trade partners, for Buzzjackia is a prosperous land. As I look across the land from my very high vantage point on top of Buzzjack Mountain, despite getting soaked by endless Scotch mist and battered by 80mph winds, I feel joyful.

You are all welcome at Buzzjack Mountain, but the climb is steep and bring stout footwear.

Yours Sincerely, The Snake

The first one was closed. The Snakes intelligence in Buzzjack Mountain suggests the primary suspect was a Mr. Lush Life who simply said 'I'm speechless' near the end of the thread. The Snake is not certain it was Mr Lush though and doesnt want to blame anyone. Ah well as Mr Lush himself would say 'That thing went bust'.

In all seriousness though this will be my last forum for a while on it.

I don't know who locked it but it wasn't "Mr. Lush" as he no longer moderates that forum.

Posted by: TheSnake 6th July 2016, 12:02 AM

OK then. At least theres another forum now.

Yes I would really like us all, not just me to create a song that could be at least mildly successful. It would be amazing. And now with a good vocalist like SevenSeize on board that can happen.

Btw, does SevenSeize own all the oceans of Buzzjackia?

The Snake knows about the neighbouring country of Jadakissnia, but nothing about Budtar, Singerpurear, St. Burbia or Euphoriffith. The Snake believes the kings/queens of these lands have gone AWOL and have abandoned their people. The Snake proses splitting these lands up under the control of himself and King Bellsprout

Posted by: TheSnake 8th July 2016, 07:13 PM

The Snake has declared war on the combined Pupokian and Yahesian armies that are bullying the poor citizens of Buzzjack Mountain.

The Snake warns these armies that Buzzjack Mountain is high and very steep and is extremely hard for anyone other than Buzzjack Mountainers from Buzzjack Mountain to climb.

The Snake also warns the Titti airforce that there is a huge cavern that can house all the inhabitants of Buzzjack Mountain, so they can be protected from the bombs like those that were dropped in the cowardly scheme earlier this week.

The Snake also has the support of King Bellsprout from the neighbouring land of Jadakissnia that was obtained because Buzzjack mountainers pay more money for jade supply than any other residents of Buzzjackia and so we have this alliance.

Yehesi is not intimidated by this tragic threat and are laughing at the thought of these peasants trying to come for the Titti Empire. We shall deal with this threat accordingly and send our armies of the Fremmenik Province to defend. We don't need our full army

According to The Snake's intelligence, Jadakissnia's jade mining is much larger an industry than its lipstick production (which is made from spare jade supply anyway). Therefore Buzzjack Mountain contributes more to Jadakissnia's economy than the Titti empire combined.

OK The Snake will reluctantly call for a peace treaty with the Tittians.

That wine made from the jade from the mines smile.gif Some of the Snakes men enjoy the jade wine too much too.

Posted by: Jacob Alan 8th July 2016, 10:10 PM

Aelandor thinks The Snake is being rather over dramatic. In an official statement, our president claims The Snake needs to "stop issuing empty threats to all of their neighbours and their allies." Instead, he suggests, The Snake should "take a chill pill" and in the unfortunate event of him still feeling that invasion is his only option "perhaps not explicitly informing said countries of an invasion before commencing attacks."

Sir Tim Bergling, President of Danaelanda has issued a message of wanting an economic alliance with Buzzjack Mountain - although He will not support any of their efforts to go to war with surrounding nations.

He points to True 02:0:22-28 "we are one, one for sure - all united". (yes, our Holy books in Danaelanda are the works of Avicii)

Yes the Snake will have an economic alliance on the condition that the track Spinning is completed by the officials of Danaelanda with the beat only heard in Danaelanda that makes even the most serious people want to dance.

The Snake will not go to war with anyone.

However a threat of war is not taken lightly, so prepare yourself. Titti Empire may not destroy you just yet, but our relationship with the Buzzjack Mountain will forever be tainted and is beyond repair. Actions like these have consequences in the form of economical sanctions

Posted by: TheSnake 9th July 2016, 11:53 PM

Maybe if The Snake invited King Titti and Queen Titti of the Titti Empire to come to the top of Buzzjack Mountain and admire the view of all Buzzjackia and to have a jug of jade wine, a wheel of Bre cheese and some kebabs sent from King Bellsprout flavoured with Buzzjack Mountain herbs then things could be better.

it's only been done three times to my knowledge I think:

Charis (Charisma) from back in the old days (before my time) sent himself covering a Westlife song (song is now lost from the internet)
gooddelta (FSR Rontvia) sent one of his own productions to a spin-off (Buzzjackfestivalen)
Pavel (FKA π) sent a song titled 'Roo' to the main contest which a few Buzzjack members including himself worked on for a teams challenge

Intersting, what are the links to these songs so I could possibly remix them.

Have you ever written any of your own tunes DanG?

A while ago I used Garageband to make some dance choons, though none of them are really good enough to send to BJSC

I'm thinking of getting back into music production soon once all my exams are over (got a piano exam this weekend), I have Logic Pro X.

I'm thinking of getting back into music production soon once all my exams are over (got a piano exam this weekend), I have Logic Pro X.

Sounds good, piano is pretty good for house music although I think a piano/strings combo is more interesting than just piano. Strings are underused in dance music now but Sigma and Clean Bandit make good use of them.

The Snake is pleased to announce after much hard labour that the Official Buzzjack Song 2016 is finished. Many thanks Mattias, Spun and Riser for the content. Mattias I know you don't like your vocal much, but your vocal is fantastic I think and has added a lot. smile.gif

Now we just need to add it to itunes and spotify but I don't know how to do that, it would be great if someone could do that and put proceeds under a charity of your choice.

A military coup has occurred at Buzzjack Mountain. The Snake has been sent into exile for causing a diplomatic row with his overinsistence on getting together song collaborations. I, the Mountain Marquis am now the ruler of Buzzjack Mountain.

ANNOUNCEMENT

The Mountain Marquis has announced that The Snake, a local music producer will be undertaking a collaboration with well known trance producer type_set. The song, credited to Colm presents The Snake - Trancelucent will be the official entry for Buzzjack mountain once he is eligible to take part. The Snake is still working on the track at the moment. He has designed a cover for it, which forms his avatar, some Buzzjackers may recognise its inspiration.

I only revelaed the title and who it was by, I hope that wasn't too much.

Please let me enter the song, It is my own composition together with Colm (who made the base track) and I have done much work on it and anyway it hasnt been posted anywhere as I havent finished it so nobody apart from me knows what it sounds like.

Also I am new to BJSC and didnt know it was not allowed to reveal the name of the track and the collaborator if it was your own composition

Posted by: TheSnake 8th September 2016, 03:39 PM

A message from the Mountain Marquis....

As other BJSC entries are on their respective threads, I have taken the decision to add ours too:

After much deliberation, the Buzzjack Mountainers went with this, a funky looped house tune by a local producer known as The Snake and a professional disco vocalist known as Doctor Blind. The Snake's average vocals reflecting the modest vocal abilities of the majority of the population can be heard on the 'I've been wasting my life bit' before the dramatic insanely good world class disco vocals courtesy of Doctor Blind break out on the 'oh oh oh' bit.

The song has a powerful message, the realization of having wasted your life for a while and needing to change your attitude. The upbeat nature of the music contrasts strongly with the downbeat vocal subject matter of having wasted your life. The quick paced video by Doctor Blind, also a highly professional video maker, reflects all the events sped through and not appreciated while wasting your life.

The Snake was inspired by the funky looped house scene in the UK during the mid 00s as well as more recent funky looped house hits such as Offaiah - Trouble. But it still maintains a uniqueness from the rest of the genre, including calimbra playing by The Snake and of course, most importantly Doctor Blind's unique vocal style, which shows what an emerging vocal talent Doctor Blind is....Surely we will see more of this emerging talent on songs in the coming months.

I am pretty sure Wasting my Life would have made the top 100 in the chart at least if it was released in 2005 (low sales plus trend for funky looped house)

Yes Lotti is excellent at the spoken word, and Buzzjack Mountain has imported some funky beats from Danaelanda (after the previous homegrown beats were not good enough in BJSC88).

Posted by: TheSnake 7th October 2016, 10:38 PM

This is the Buzzjack Mountain entry for BJSC89, a disco house tune by French house producers Water Juice featuring vocals from Audrey Graham.

A little known track from Beatport's 'disco' sub genre section, the track was discovered several months ago by the citizens of Buzzjack Mountain. Sounding very mid 00s in terms of production we had to put it forward for its nostalgic sound.

Yes Aubrey and Audrey are different genres completely laugh.gif They are not related as far as I know

Yes the Shapeshifters vibes are something I really like as a fan of mid 00s dance music.

The original entry might be back next time with a few Buzzjack collaborators (although more likely for BJSC91 as I want to make it great).

Yes I really liked the Water Juice tune the first time I heard it in Beatport especially that uplifting Shapeshifters style production we dont hear much any more in the charts (maybe more this year with Clean Bandit's Tears and Galantis' Love On Me chorus)

Yes I really agree I could never make an original song near the standard of this. For one Audrey's vocals are great and it also has real instruments violins and horns in it.

One of these three will be entered, but which one.....

'We Can Make It' definitely stands the best chance of being a HIT I think, I prefer it to the other two as well.

I wanna love "We Can Make It' but there's something that makes it too generic for me.

Posted by: The Sultan 31st January 2017, 06:02 PM

Thanks for your opinions, I love all three songs and it is going to be hard to choose. Obviously Slam Dunk'd reflects my liking for funky house biggrin.gif, We Can Make It combines Middle Eastern Music and trance, both of which I like and Destiny is just so different and actually reminds me a little of Chicane and Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up from 2000 with the chilled dreamy style and vocal effect (and lyrics too), even though it is a completely different sub genre of dance.

Sultan of Buzzjack Mountain!!

The Beaverdonia delegate is HURR to request that you be our ally and come initiate military action with us against Hushanka?

Don't worry, it's not gonna be full-out war, it's just meant to put the willies up them as we tell them to hit the bricks, see?!

We will ravish some outside Hushannka towns and have our hordes roam around a bit only.

Are you with us, Grand Sultan?!!!!

Posted by: Peenus Fly Trap 7th March 2017, 11:13 PM

Join us Sultan!

Posted by: The Wise Sultan 8th March 2017, 12:43 AM

I think we should concentrate on the war trying to carve up Ethanola's former territory , we shouldn't let the Titti Empire annex all of Ethanola, we should have a share.

Posted by: Peenus Fly Trap 8th March 2017, 01:32 AM

I don't need ALL your forces, just a batallion to come along with mine. It will give my campaign more legitimacy. Beaverdonia does not declare unilateral war. Lend us your support!

Posted by: Cameron 8th March 2017, 09:20 AM

Soz Hushkanukia is too busy for war, can we reschedule?

Posted by: Peenus Fly Trap 12th March 2017, 08:03 PM

Ok.

Change of plan, Sultan!!

Keep your forces for that war BUT give Beaverdonia 200 ground troops and 50,000 of your best civilian pub drunkards. We'll get them back to you as soon as we can!

In return we will provide you with damming and irrigation help after the operation.

Posted by: Fuzzjack 12th March 2017, 08:28 PM

Agreed. We should also form an empire to rival the Titti Empire!

Posted by: Fuzzjack 12th March 2017, 11:03 PM

Our entry for BJSC95 is Gerox and Lobo ft Nala - Dance With Me. So Buzzjack Mountain decided to go with something a bit different and more current sounding and more poppy this time to their usual retro sounding dance tunes, but a tune we still really liked!

Posted by: Slitherhisser 31st July 2017, 10:38 PM

Our entry for BJSC 97 is Lee Mills' song 'From My Lerv'. We up on the Mountain certainly think its a great dance banger and it is very different to our usual style of entries, more 90s eurodance style rather than the usual 00s dance style inspired entries from us.

Posted by: The Hissmobile 29th August 2017, 10:25 AM

Something completely different to the usual style of Buzzjack Mountain entries for BJSC 98, much darker and atmospheric and coincidentally a bit Jadakissnian as a result! The brilliant bassline and excellent vocal drew us towards choosing this song to enter.

BJSC 100

We went with a big sounding track from 1983. With drum rolls in the production and a big vocal we aimed to send something big sounding for BJSC 100 which is a big iconic moment of course on the site. Also for BJSC 100 we thought going retro was a good idea for some reason. Anyway, this is a real 'driving anthems' type song we think, not that the Mountain Marquis drives of course! Our first non dance song we have sent so we don't know how this is going to go in the contest only that we love this song and hope some others in Buzzjackia do too!

We are out with a whimper from BJSC100 at 42nd in semi 1 with a lowly 38 points sad.gif Going retro obviously didn't work so back to the good old dancebloc for BJSC101. dance.gif

BJSC 101 entry:

The Buzzjack Mountain nation have decided their entry and seem to have gone very early 10s sounding for this contest, for some reason only known to themselves. The song itself is actually from late 2016 though. Lets hope this contest works out better for Buzzjack Mountain than last times flop performance!

Absolute tune & a half this! music.gif

Glad Dobago are fans! cheer.gif

Yep I know its a bit cheesy and early 10s sounding but its a particularly good example of its type of dance imo. We discovered it in late 2016 and had it as a potential entry once before iirc, but rediscovered it recently and decided to enter it finally. And anyway we haven't had much early 10's sounding dance in BJSC recently (although maybe some of the K-pop entries have been kind of) so we at Buzzjack Mountain thought, why not enter it?

Our next entry is likely to be more serious and underground sounding. Maybe not as serious as Tension though, that was Buzzjack Mountain at its most sensible.

BJSC103 Entry - Ace - Heavensent

Buzzjack Mountain again, in their quirkiness, seem to have once again shied away from providing anything that sounds like it would qualify and have decided to go with this as their BJSC 103 entry.

BJSC111 Entry - Talk Talk - Talk Talk (single version)

Buzzjack Mountain is pleased to be back after a short
break from the contest and is ready to provide a good variety of entries for 2019, starting with this one, which is quite different in style to anything we have sent before, but maintains the Buzzjack Mountain love for energetic production.

We hope you will enjoy this and the rest of the entries Buzzjack Mountain will be sending this year. This thread will be being kept updated more this year, and we are considering changing our flag too soon so there will be some exciting times ahead for Buzzjack Mountain.

I can't believe this didn't get vetoed, I thought everyone would know it already !! Regardless, fab entry to start the year off wub.gif

Posted by: The Snake 26th January 2019, 02:35 PM

Glad you like it mdh. biggrin.gif Yes Buzzjack Mountain usually go for really unknown dance songs we find on Beatport but the success of 'Dr Mabuse' and 'Rockin For Myself' in recent contests encouraged us to send this. I wouldn't say it was that well known any more, it seems to be mostly forgotten, apart from popping up on eponomous song threads on the internet and has been vastly overshadowed in terms of popularity and radio play by the band's best known song 'It's My Life'.

BJSC 117 Entry - Brioni Faith - Skyscrapers (Industrial Mix)

Something different from Buzzjack Mountain this time, soft rock instead of dance this time. In terms of music the summery sound of this song Chhor Denge is what we needed this time of year I think as we look forward to spring and summer, we are a big fan of summery sounding songs in Buzzjack Mountain, an example of this is Te Amo being our favourite Rihanna song. Like that song Chhor Denge has use of summery classical acoustic guitar in a part of it, which we like. Although in contrast with the summery sounding music the lyrics in English of Chhor Denge are actually quite dark and are about the end of a relationship https://lyricsraag.com/chhor-denge-translation-nora-fatehi-parampara/

We spotted this on the UK iTunes chart, the catchy vocal and electric guitar riff really made us enjoy the song.

Greetings Buzzjack Mountain! hi.gif

Just having a listen to your entry now, and wondering how this came to be in the iTunes chart recently, but it has a great guitar riff (maybe would have worked in a Nuggets contest?) this is certainly a different sound to what I was expecting, and I thought perhaps the song you had chosen to send that was recently high on iTunes was by Mahmet Orhan but I forget the title but it was a violin song.

Look forward to seeing how you do in your semi final! Good luck from Zanmatony!

Many thanks to Zanmatony from Buzzjack Mountain for this great diplomatic message. I was actually going to send Chhor Denge to the Nuggets song contest but I thought I would send it to BJSC just to see how it would do, also because its different to what I usually send to BJSC.

Indian songs do make the UK iTunes chart occasionally and while I like most of them as I am a fan of Indian music this one is the best one I've heard so far.

The guitar riff is one of the best parts of the song I agree. There should be more guitar riffs in pop songs I think.

Here is our entry for BJSC 133 - we were almost not going to send it because we didn't like the lyrical theme actually but the production is absolutely what we like in a good house track, and we really like the R&B influenced vocal style in it.

Greetings Buzzjack Mountain! hi.gif

This sounds like a funky track right from the off! Very fresh just like a ripe piece of fruit. Why are they called Rare Birds? Are they nightingales? ohmy.gif

Anyway I’m here for this song doing better than your last entry did and I’m glad that we are in the same Semi final this month! cheer.gif

Posted by: TheSnake 12th March 2021, 11:49 PM

Not sure why they are called Rare Birds but it is a good and distinctive artist name.

The cover art for this is iconic too we think, pity there's no video for the song yet.

That's good you like the song anyway, I suppose it is quite funky but we have sent funkier sounding dance entries before. The background synths in the second half of the song particularly drew us to select it as our entry.

Yes we were inspired by the recent prominence of Nia Archives to send this sort of tune!
