BuzzJack Music Forum _ Television _ The Voice UK - Series 7

Posted by: TheGhostPensmith 7th October 2017, 08:25 AM

Blind auditions start filming next month for the seventh series. Only Tom Jones and will.I.am are definite returns for coaches so far, with Emma Willis back to host.

Rumours are flying around today in The Sun that Olly Murs is joining as a coach. I'll believe it when it comes from the horse's mouth and not Dan Wootton's but I think this'd be perfect for him if it's true. There's also talk of Danny Jones possibly coming over from The Voice Kids following the good reception he got on there!

So Olly is indeed joining as the new coach! Jennifer Hudson also back too: http://www.itv.com/presscentre/press-releases/olly-murs-joins-superstar-panel-coaches-new-series-itvs-voice-uk

Yaaaas daddy, I'll still probably barely watch though lmao

First official press shot of the new coaches!

Glad to see JHud back! Easily the best 'coach' they've had on here (sorry Rita)

Posted by: jase. 15th October 2017, 09:45 PM

People still watch this? laugh.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 6th January 2018, 08:25 PM

Just as bland and boring as ever.

Mehhhhh!

Posted by: Mart!n 7th January 2018, 12:01 PM

I watched it, mind you there was only one decent act on it, the girl with the big hat who sang the Nizlopi track - JCB Song with her partner.

Posted by: Lorde 7th January 2018, 02:18 PM

Got its lowest ever launch rating last night

Posted by: Danuary 7th January 2018, 02:22 PM

I'm surprised this is still on the air.

Posted by: 5 Silas Frøkner 7th January 2018, 03:03 PM

I watched a little bit of this last night. I really liked JHud. Her little Aretha cover with Tom was spectacular. I wasn't particularly gripped by any of the hopefuls. Sure there is some talent there but I dunno, you just don't get that feeling that any of them will actually amount to anything or even release something. Why invest if you're never going to get any actual material out of them to enjoy?

Posted by: Liаm 7th January 2018, 03:32 PM

I can just never really bring myself to be bothered to watch this laugh.gif It's ok if we're having dinner and it happens to be on while we're waiting for something else to come on or whatever but I'd never choose it. I find it a bit dull and whilst X Factor is of course far past its best, it still has a little something that The Voice doesn't, I don't know what it is. Also at least we know on X Factor at least the winner will get a hit or two even if it's just a feature and their winning single, it feels pointless really investing anything as Silas said in The Voice because it doesn't matter who wins really, they'll maybe get top 10 on iTunes and like 39 in the real chart. It's like a glorified karaoke competition, I know people say that about X Factor but there's at least some sort of effort to flesh out the acts as artists. The Voice tries what feels a bit too hard to be "real", it's like open mic down the pub, ok to watch if you're there but you wouldn't go out of your way. Of course there are different kinds of artists, some with great talent, but they just all feel the same to me in a way?

There is a singer named Jade Williams on this series. Her to win for her name alone xx

(lol at the lack of discussion for this show these days (for entirely understandable reasons))

Posted by: Liаm 13th January 2018, 10:04 PM

I caught the end, someone sang a Glee song lmao, Jade impact all over the shop ohmy.gif

Posted by: Mart!n 13th January 2018, 10:19 PM

Most of it was pretty much rubbish, the cabaret singer is awful that Olly picked, mind you Olly was the only person turned round for her, and she is from my neck of the woods just 20 mins by car and seen her a few times in Maidstone. The 16 year old lad was actually brilliant in the end I was just amazed that twist to the track never saw that coming, and the two opera singers were alright I suppose, the last girl to perform was pretty good.

Another local talent Tesni Jones from my neck of the woods has made it through, she has supported Blue on a UK Tour and Tesni was also a part of XYP, who had five top-10 singles in Holland, including a number one with their debut single "Body to Body".

Apparently this has been rating higher than The X Factor 2017

First time watching this series properly on the final... Jesus christ at that Donel guy who's the favourite, I dread to think who they cut before him if he's supposed to be the best they have.

Posted by: Jade 7th April 2018, 08:07 PM

I have caught most of this as my grandma has it on and I had to laugh at Olly telling Donel that he would be in the chart :') #30 in the album chart at a push maybe x

Belle Voci were probably the best from what I caught

Posted by: Liаm 7th April 2018, 09:09 PM

Yaaass Ruti, liked what I heard from her tonight. It was "The Voice" after all, it would have been a joke if Donel won laugh.gif

Posted by: JosephAvery 7th April 2018, 09:12 PM

Ruti was my pick for the winner tonight, I think she's got a lovely voice!! I wasn't really feeling Donel much either so a great outcome - he was a good performer but did lack a bit vocally.

Posted by: dandy* 7th April 2018, 09:21 PM

Watched this tonight and Ruti was actually pretty darn good - her duet with Tom was lovely and her version of Dreams was pretty great too.

Posted by: Mart!n 7th April 2018, 09:24 PM

Danielle was my favourite in the final her version of Stay was brilliant, shame in the duet with Olly, just over-sang her in the end and the track really didn't suit her voice.

I had a gut feeling the final 2 would be Ruti and Donal, I was really surprised Ruti won, in the end the best person won, Donal was just a bit irritating after awhile.

Posted by: troylovesmusic 7th April 2018, 09:43 PM

I liked both the top 2 I think Donel has more Star Quality and I could possibly see him doing better out of the two if a good record label picks him up but Ruti had the better voice and the show is called The Voice so the right person probably won.

Posted by: jjake 7th April 2018, 09:52 PM

first time i’ve ever watched this (coz i’m staying at my nan’s) and ruti’s voice moved me to tears; she has a v hannah london grammar tone to her voice with a little other edge

i hope polydor treat her well; she has a lot of potential...

she would sound great on a clean bandit single

Posted by: Jade 7th April 2018, 09:56 PM

Yeah Ruti was easily my preferred choice out of that top two so I'm glad that the odds were wrong!

(also her Twitter bio includes 'Lover of all cats' so she can definitely stay)

Posted by: Mack. 8th April 2018, 09:14 AM

Ruti must have had a heck of a lot of votes considering the lines closed the minute she left the stage

Posted by: Liаm 8th April 2018, 02:32 PM

I thought the same! laugh.gif I'll be interested to see how close it was when the voting stats come out.

Posted by: Mack. 8th April 2018, 09:41 PM

Don't often watch it, saw the final. I was genuinely surprised that she won.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 12th April 2018, 12:18 PM

http://www.itv.com/thevoice/the-winner-of-the-voice-uk-2018-is-but-by-how-much

The voting stats have been released.

In the final, Donel was just ahead of Ruti at the first vote, but Ruti pulled ahead in the second vote and won with 58.34%.
