The End-of-Year Number 9 Survivor Result And the winner is... 'Toxic' was released in the UK in March 2004 and sold over 102,000 copies in order to clock a week at number one (you would think a pop classic would have scored more than one week at the top!) giving Britney her fourth UK chart topper. The song also gave Britney her joint-second highest hit in the US at the point of its release - peaking at #9. I honestly thought it was going to win this survivor by a landslide - and it looked that way at one point when it barely received any votes in the earlier rounds! Thanks for the continued participation. Toxic might have spent just 1 week at the top but I can say that it is the biggest song (maybe only Yeah is bigger) in the Top 10 YEC of 2004!!! |

Oh yes the right winner this time. It was like Rage Against the Machine beating Joe McElderry again.

Omg the upset is amazing Toxic is a great song but so is Teenage Dirtbag, the hate for it on here is so OTT. Always takes me back to being 12/13, such great memories.

No freakin' way did it actually do THAT! We do love an outside runner is it now the fave to win the whole thing?
Oxygen tends to win the poll for everyone's favourite gas to breathe as well. But maybe we should give carbon monoxide a chance for once. x Ha that tickled me. |

I reckon salty detractors will target Teenage Dirtbag in round 1 of the Ultimate Survivor to ensure it doesn't win again.

To be fair the finals list is weaker than a lot of the original ones!

The End-of-Year Number 10 Survivor Result And the winner is... Push The Button! The Sugababes score their second win across this Survivor series meaning they are the only act with two entries in the Ultimate Survivor coming up next! I love both of the tracks in this final and they were by far the best of this batch. I'm glad the Sugababes came out on top though even if the result doesn't match the Number 9 Final in terms of unpredictability and shock. Now finishing runner-up... Black & Gold! The song spent three weeks at #2 in April 2008 - blocked from the top by 'American Boy' and '4 Minutes' - both vastly inferior songs in my opinion! I'm actually shocked it made it all the way to #2 - for some reason I remember it as a #4 smash lol. Unfortunately it was both the start and the end for Sam's chart success in the UK at least. The follow-up to 'Black & Gold' failed to chart in the top 40 and no other releases charted at all. Still, his one and only hit is brilliant! Thanks for the continued participation. The Ultimate Survivor will be up after the next round of the 11's. WINNER: Sugababes - Push The Button [62.16%] 23 out of 37 votes Runner-up: Sam Sparro - Black & Gold [37.84%] 14 out of 37 votes 03. Justin Timberlake - SexyBack [56.67%] 17 out of 30 votes 04. Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby [45.95%] 17 out of 37 votes 05. Eminem - Without Me [40.00%] 16 out of 40 votes 06. Craig David - Fill Me In [29.73%] 11 out of 37 votes 07. Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway [30.56%] 11 out of 36 votes 08. The Darkness - Christmas Time [26.83%] 11 out of 41 votes 09. Afroman - Because I Got High [40.54%] 15 out of 37 votes 10. Frankee - F U Right Back [48.84%] 21 out of 43 votes |

The End-of-Year Number 11 Survivor Result And the winner is... Evanescence! 'Bring Me to Life' first charted on imports for three weeks prior to its UK release in June 2003 - it therefore climbed from 64 to 1 in its fourth week on the chart (a rarity for the time) and stayed on top for 4 weeks and did well in keeping the Fast Food Rockers from the #1 spot! Now finishing runner-up... 'Smile'! The song entered the chart at #13 on downloads alone before dethroning 'Hips Don't Lie' at #1 the following week. The song stayed at #1 for two weeks and became the first of 3 number one singles for Lily. WINNER: Evanescence - Bring Me To Life [77.78%] 28 out of 36 votes Runner-up: Lily Allen - Smile [22.22%] 8 out of 36 votes 03. The Fray - How To Save A Life [48.39%] 15 out of 31 votes 04. S Club 7 - Reach [41.03%] 16 out of 39 votes 05. Daniel Powter - Bad Day [37.14%] 13 out of 35 votes 06. Ronan Keating - If Tomorrow Never Comes [42.42%] 14 out of 33 votes 07. Flo Rida feat. T-Pain - Low [54.29%] 19 out of 35 votes 08. Mario Winans - I Don't Wanna Know [40.00%] 12 out of 30 votes 09. Tinchy Stryder feat. N-Dubz - Number 1 [37.50%] 15 out of 40 votes 10. DJ Pied Piper & The Masters of Ceremonies - Do You Really Like It? [35.00%] 14 out of 40 votes |

Completely agreed, by a mile the best from that below par round. Smile is a very good runner-up too.

Brilliant winner. I saw the video months before it took off in the UK, incredibly captivating. Well deserved in the votes slayage too!

The Ultimate Survivor Result And the winner is... Kylie! 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' was released in the UK in September 2001 and entered the chart at #1 where it stayed for four weeks. It's reign prevented the likes of Steps and Michael Jackson from scoring #1's with 'Chain Reaction/One For Sorrow' and 'You Rock My World' respectively. The song notably became Kylie's second top 10 hit in the US, peaking at #7, and her first in 14 years after her 80's hit 'The Loco-Motion' charted at #3. Now finishing runner-up... All Saints with their The Beach soundtrack single 'Pure Shores'. The song was released in February 2000 and entered the chart at #1 where it stayed for two weeks. In its first week, it outperformed other new entries from the likes of Christina Aguilera, Shania Twain and Aqua. In its second week at the top it blocked Artful Dodger's 'Movin Too Fast' from entering at #1. It is to this day my favourite All Saints track - the William Orbit dreamy production is what elevates it from a great song to something magnificent! 01: Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out Of My Head [52.73%] 29 out of 55 votes 02: All Saints - Pure Shores [47.27%] 26 out of 55 votes 03. Shakira - Whenever, Wherever [42.86%] 18 out of 42 votes 04. Take That - Rule The World [36.84%] 14 out of 38 votes 05. Sugababes - About You Now [36.59%] 15 out of 41 votes 06. Lady Gaga - Poker Face [33.33%] 12 out of 36 votes 07. Sugababes - Push The Button [32.56%] 14 out of 43 votes 08. Spiller feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Groovejet [27.50%] 11 out of 40 votes 09. Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag [34.09%] 15 out of 44 votes 10. Atomic Kitten - Whole Again [38.46%] 15 out of 39 votes |

Predictable winner. Wheatus robbed. Here's hoping the 11-20 section throws up some surprises.

Kylie is a decent winner but there were much better songs kicked out of the earlier rounds.

55 votes in the last round. It ended with a new record of voters in this forum, right?

Kylie may be predictable but deserved, though I wouldn't have minded an All Saints win either, the rest of that top five not so much.
