Watch all Week 3 dances here!

Live from Hollywood, it’s Movie Nght on Dancing With The Stars! The new voting system has claimed its first victim, and surprisingly it wasn’t Sean Spicer. This week, the ten couples will dance to songs from famous movies.

That’s right, I said ten dancers... because Ray Lewis has been sidelined! Everything will be revealed in due time but let’s see how the other dances wrap up. Poor Cheryl, this is the second time she’s placed low due to her partner peacing out of the competition.

(scores: Carrie Ann | Len | Bruno)

-

Lauren & Gleb: Lauren is dancing to a song from Pretty Woman! Lol @ her saying she wishes Gleb was Richard Gere instead tongue.gif His strategy for the tango is for her to stablilize her form with two water bottles.

I thought the tango content they did was decent if a bit sloppy at times, but strangely enough the parts she did well were the parts without it! However... come on Gleb. You can choreography better than this. Len loved the attitude and thought the dance had full of attack. Bruno loved a lot of her lines but wanted her to improve her transitions - she should transfer her core during the transitions. Carrie Ann wants her to work on her musicality.

Also I haven’t seen Gleb without facial hair since... not even his first season!

Scores: 6 | 7 | 7 = 20. Lauren talks about the beginning of the dance and how she doesn’t want her father to see it. So innocent. I love her.

Len making sense for once!

-

Hannah & Alan: Of course Taylor shared her dance on Instagram tongue.gif Her movie of dance is Bridesmaids, and it completely fits because she’s the maid of honor in her best friend’s wedding! Alan Later appears in her bachelorette party as a police officer stripper! Hannah of course is a bit perturbed but lowkey amuses.

Another decent dance from her but I did think her transitions were a bit sloppy. Bruno wants her to use the floor more, and Carrie Ann wants her to ease into the style more; a lot of her movements are more jazz styled and with someone of her dancing skill, she needs to show more versatility. Len loved her lines and musicality but wanted to see more hip action. I hope to god that Bruno doesn’t push this as a showmance, let her have some fun for a change!

Scores: 7 | 7 | 7 = 21. Hannah explains that this experience has been cathartic for her especially since her life for the past year has been in the spotlight. Honestly good for her.

-

Karamo & Jenna: Karamo goes from Prince to Elton John... and they’re doing a jive to I’m Still Standing. YES at him wearing a Mental Health Matters shirt! And he explains that he’s honored to dance to Elton because the song matches his life story. Taron Egerton gives them some words of encouragement for their jive; interestingly not only did he play Elton John but he also sang the song in SING!

This was pretty decent for what it was, I did want it to be a bit sharper and I felt that he was overthinking a lot of the moves. I didn’t know that Bruno was in the video! Interesting tidbit. Carrie Ann pointed out a lot of mistakes but she loved his spirit and charisma. Len applauded the large number of jive content and how he drove through the choreography.

Scores: 5 | 5 | 5 = 16. Karamo loves this show and the experience so much despite the critiques and flubs that he’s made.

-

Ally & Sasha: Coming off a cathartic Viennese Waltz last week, she’s pulling off a rumba to her greatest inspiration, Selena Quintanilla. For Ally, her family is her support system and talks about how Selena inspired her to become a huge pop star.

Some of her moves felt a bit too jazz but once she eased into the choreography, she ROCKED IT. I also would like her to tighten her core so that her feet don’t lift off the ground and make the drag look like a lift. Len was impressed with her rumba content and her hip action, and Bruno was impressed with her lines and heart.

Scores: 8 | 8 | 8 = 24. Her family is actually friends with the Quintanilla family and she gives out a long speech about how this family inspired her.

-

SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT: Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker is coming VERY SOON. We will finally get to see the conclusion of the latest trilogy coming in December!

-

So what did end up happening to Ray and Cheryl? While they were training for their dance, he had been feeling a lot of pain. It’s been revealed that he had torn three tendons and that he needs surgery to repair them. Unfortunately this means he has to leave the competition right after he was saved by the judges. A bit of a shame really, this is now two of the original lineup that had to drop out due to injury.

Instead we have Rashad Jennings doing the same dance in Ray’s place... and this made me miss him. He even made subpar choreography made for below average dancers look good.

-

James & Emma: A STAR IS BORN OMFGGGGGGGGGGG cheer.gif cheer.gif cheer.gif This dance is dedicated to his wife, and when she arrives to the rehearsal room, she’s very appreciative of the gesture.

This might actually be my favorite rumba on Dancing With The Stars. Emma and Sasha really turned it out this week with the choreography. James KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK. Bruno loved how James complimented Emma’s dancing in the rumba while still leading her. Len thought that James’ legs were too wide, which inhibited his hip action.

Scores: 8 | 7 | 8 = 23. It’s their highest score, currently Emma and Sasha hold the top 2 spots in the leaderboard!

-

Kate & Pasha: She broke out with this last dance, now she’s tackling another ballroom dance this week to 9 To 5, close to home as it’s another workplace comedy.

I’m amazed at how in sync they are! This routine reminded me of old school DWTS even with the gimmicks. Carrie Ann loved their synergy and how in sync they were, and the other judges raves about it.

Scores: 8 | 8 | 8 = 24. They are speeding their way into contention and honestly I’m not mad.

-

Lamar & Peta: They’re doing Risky Business this time and their aim is just to have fun with this. I’m expecting a lot of gimmicks and such.

Another comedic routine. Trust Peta to pull something like this off. This one felt more like a line dance and there was one part where he ended up on the wrong foot. Len felt optimistic about the dance but then... the cha cha content was extremely underwhelming. Carrie Ann was glad to see him channeling the audience’s energy and praised him for staying on beat.

Scores: 4 | 4 | 4 = 12. Lol.

-

Sailor & Val: Some ABBA love for this movie night! In a talking head, she tells the camera that she’s grateful for the comments and that she’s gonna use the criticism. This dance is about her and mother Christie’s relationship and how it’s similar to Meryl and Amanda’s characters.

I can forgive her smiling even though it’s a tango because that is the character she’s embodying - someone joyful and hopeful for the future. And that’s what this dance was! Props to her for applying the corrections. Bruno commends her for implementing the critiques and admires her tenacity. All the little flourishes helped augment the dance and the judges ate up every minute of it.

Scores: 7 | 8 | 8 = 23. Second highest score of the night! Len has been making the most sense so far.

-

Kel & Witney: Kel wants to draw inspiration from his ailing dad for his samba, which is interesting. I can tell that this came in naturally for him and that the moves came to him like clockwork. Bruno loved it but wanted to see more. Carie Ann also saw an improvement.

Scores: 7 | 6 | 7 = 20. Wow, they’re in line with James now.

-

Kel & Witney: His improvement was promising, but can they keep the momentum? This time they’re dancing to Titanic, and Kel’s excited because he’s a huge fan of the show and Leonardo DiCaprio.

He looks so regal in that suit! He and Witney are really hitting the rhythm changes well and it was much more polished than the last dance. Carrie Ann warns him for tightening up the dance but loved everything else. Len wanted more shaping in the hand, and Bruno wants him to balance out the intensity and fluidity.

Scores: 7 | 6 | 7 = 20. More decent scores.

-

Sean & Lindsay: Oh boy... Saturday Night Fever... I’m a little scared honestly. Lindsay wants Sean to emulate John Travolta in the movie and he needs to show that confidence.

He started off pretty well but then got into the wrong foot... yikes. Not to mention he was off beat the entire time. Otherwise the choreography is simple enough for him to comprehend, so props to Lindsay for that. Len obviously didn’t like it, calling it “lukewarm”, and he noticed his sickled feet throughout. The other judges were glad that he was having fun, despite Carrie Ann warning him that his movements were robotic.

Scores: 5 | 5 | 5 = 15. Apparently that knee jump was something tacked in for shits and giggles.

-

So... who is safe and who is in the bottom 2?

Safe:
Ally & Sasha
Sean & Lindsay
Hannah & Alan
Lauren & Gleb
Kate & Pasha
James & Emma
Sailor & Val
Karamo & Jenna

In Jeopardy: Lamar & Peta, Kel & Witney. Keep in mind that this is live voting. While I had no doubt that Sean will capture the Eastern time/bigotry belt votes, Karamo is doing just as well in that department despite low scores. At least just enough to edge out Kel & Witney, who have better scores than those two.

Due to Ray & Cheryl’s departure, the two couples in jeopardy are safe in the competition! For now. Scores and votes will carry on to the next week.

Watch all Week 4 dances here!

Live from Hollywood, it’s Cast From The Past Nght on Dancing With The Stars! This week, all ABC shows are bringing back some surprise co-stars, but for DWTS, their guest judge is one of their alumni, and thus Season 17 alum Leah Remini joins the panel for the week.

(scores: Carrie Ann | Leah | Len | Bruno)

-

Sean & Lindsay: I’m wondering if the running order will help or hurt them with this new voting process. Lindsay believes that Sean’s robotic movements will give them an advantage to their Paso Doble. Sean muses about his military experience and is in awe at Lindsay’s stricter teaching style for the week.

Honestly, if I can give him credit for anything, he’s committed to the character, but that’s pretty much it. He’s still extremely stiff, he has major timing issues, and it’s almost as if Lindsay is dragging him. Carrie Ann commends his attack, as do the rest of the judges. However, Len thought the dance had a lot of technical mistakes, Bruno pointed out the lack of core movement, and Carrie Ann warned him that he needs to improve his facial expressions and not make them so forced.

Scores: 5 | 6 | 5 | 5 = 21. Still kinda eh scores.

-

Ally & Sasha: Another Sasha jive! Sasha wants her to work on her stamina, so they do a jive bootcamp, and she’s loving every minute of it. I have a feeling this is gonna work on her favor.

Proud Mary is another overused song in DWTS/Strictly. Paige, Jordan, Alexandra, and now Ally. She is on FIRE, the jive content was clean and precise, she kept up with Sasha, and her attitude was on point. Bruno commends her stage presence; he adds that she even upstaged Sasha. Carrie Ann thought she met her expectations, Leah was impressed with her ability to comprehend the difficulty of the dance, and Len loved it as a complete package.

Scores: 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 = 32. Ally comments that Sasha’s bootcamp is really helping her.

-

Kel & Witney: This is pretty much the opposite of Sean & Lindsay’s rehearsal package; their cha-cha is more built on fun. Witney arranges for Kel’s family to give him inspiration for this dance, and it’s absolutely heartwarming, there should be more moments like this.

This was a carefree dance and should be taken as such. It’s a nice blend of cha-cha and hip hop, and everything just came together. Carrie Ann exclaims that she’s been waiting for the flair that he showed during the dance. Leah wants him to own his skills, as does Len. Bruno tells him that he has it all, he just needs more confidence.

Scores: 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 = 32. Some really good scores this week. I have a really good feeling about this week.

-

Kate & Pasha: Kate thanks Pasha for the technical education, but this dance is more about passion. She reminisces about how she got her gig at The Office at 49 and then met her boyfriend thereafter, so she reminds everyone that it’s “never too late”.

I love how Pasha’s choreography is non-assuming. It reminds me of classic DWTS. Their musicality is pretty on but at times I catch her second guessing herself. Leah reassures her that she’s not the only person who would struggle with the passion side as they’re not dancers, and she thought she loved it. Len thought she struggled with getting into character. Bruno disagrees but warns her about losing her balance. Carrie Ann commends her lines and the way she uses the floor, but she also wants her to improve on her facial expressions.

Scores: 7 | 7 | 6 | 6 = 26. Kate is just surprised that she didn’t look like the mother dancing with her married son.

-

James & Emma: It’s not too random for his most passionate dance to be a dedication to his wife. Speaking of his family... they’re going to have another child! Seems like a very opportune time since their dance is gonna be a fun and light quickstep!

There’s a part in the dance where James is very early, but they recover rather quickly. Len reassures him that his scores aren’t an indication of how he feels, but he wants him to keep the form on hold. Bruno wants him to iron out the small details. Carrie Ann wants the to improve their synchronicity.

Scores: 7 | 7 | 7 | 7 = 28. I think James having an off week is gonna be good for him. He’ll improve on these scores no doubt and this will create a “journey” angle for him.

-

Hannah & Alan: Hannah talks about how there was truth to Carrie Ann’s “cheerleading” comment as it seemed unnatural for her to let loose. For her, it became a natural reaction for her to smile through everything, but Alan wants rage. Thus they take her to a rage room for her to... let the beast take over. I am ready for the return of Hannah Beast!

This routine is choc full of content and she has the finesse to pull it off. Her facial expressions for this Paso were just the right amount of fierce; there was a devilish smirk to it and it matched the fast pace of this dance. Bruno wanted her to improve on her stamina, while Carrie Ann commended her for taking the criticisms to heart and improving the intensity. Len thought her aggression had just the right amount of control; it wasn’t forced and she didn’t overdo it, yet it wasn’t too inhibited.

Scores: 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 = 32. I was really hoping for 9’s, but still a really solid score.

-

Lamar & Peta: His dance was all over the place last week and they really want to improve on that. Peta decides to fly Lamar’s children over to support him for this Viennese Waltz. His children are in awe of his survivor’s mentality - after almost dying four years ago, he’s up and running and that’s enlightening.

It still seems to lack a lot of finesse but to be honest, it’s a very welcoming improvement from last time. It felt much more smooth than usual. Good on Peta for taking it slow with him. Carrie Ann was proud of him for showing so much vulnerability. Len and Bruno loved the more tender movements, yet the latter wanted more rotation.

Scores: 5 | 7 | 4 | 4 = 20. Peta’s pretty emotional because she’s proud that he got out there and performed the heck out of that dance. Tbh Carrie Ann’s score was more correct; the emotion was there, the technique was still sloppy.

-

Sailor & Val: She was really glad to see Rumer last week, and the former mirrorball champ and Masked Singer participant arrived to give her some advice. There’s a bit of legacy-to-legacy action and this dance soon became aimed for Sailor to establish herself as her own person.

Sailor has been the the biggest surprise this season because of her dancing comprehension and natural ability, and this dance is not exception. Leah is mesmerized by her electrifying personality. Len thought the ambiance and choreography came together super well, and Bruno believes she is blooming. Carrie Ann tells her to find her foot consistency, and everything will lock into place.

Scores: 7 | 8 | 8 | 8 = 31. Honestly Sailor is there to have fun and I’m glad. She’s enjoying every minute of it.

-

Lauren & Gleb: Lauren decides to give Gleb a taste of her hometown and dive deep into the country scene. I would have done without shoving Bobby Bones down everyone’s throats though.

I love the changes in tempo during the dance, I just wanted the choreography to use the floor more... she has so much potential. The judges are very inspired with her and loved the dance. Bruno was impressed with how she filled the gap with her body movements. Carrie Ann thought she told the story well, which is imperative with such a story-driven dance.

Scores: 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 = 32. Wow, they’re in line with James now.

-

Karamo & Jenna: A tango to Old Town Road? This... will be a bit of a mess. Jenna prepares him for the character by taking him for a horse ride, which is a bit weird for him as a city boy. They want him to get more militant so that he can improve the scores but it’s all a bit of fun.

I’m absolutely loving how much flair this tango has. There are still some things that he can improve on but I think this could be his breakout dance. Bruno warns him to not to make the tango too staccato but thought that he did pretty well. Carrie Ann absolutely loved the dance but... you know... she’s the lift police. Leah of course loved it. Len thought that his footwork could improve but... he’s still mulling over what score to give him.

I love how this ended up being such a polarizing dance for Len. As Tom and Erin said, “this could turn into a slugfest!”

Scores: 7 | 7 | 5 7 | 7 = 28. Lol Len is such a tease.

-

So... who is safe and who is in the bottom 2?

Safe:
Kel & Witney (YES!)
Hannah & Alan
Sailor & Val
James & Emma
Ally & Sasha (of course)
Lauren & Gleb
Kate & Pasha
Sean & Lindsay

In Jeopardy: Lamar & Peta, Karamo & Jenna. Not too surprising, they’re among the lower end of the couples scoring-wise.

Who will the judges save?

Eliminated: Lamar & Peta

So at last we get the lowest scorer eliminated. I’m glad that he got to end this show on a high.

Next Week: Disney Night kicks off into high gear with a performance of Into The Unknown from Frozen 2... all the way from Disneyland!

Dance Ranking:
9 | 1.) Hannah & Alan
8 | 2.) Ally & Sasha
8 | 3.) Sailor & Val
8 | 4.) Lauren & Gleb
8 | 5.) Kel & Witney
7 | 6.) James & Emma
7 | 7.) Kate & Pasha
7 | 8.) Karamo & Jenna
5 | 9.) Sean & Lindsay
5 | 10.) Lamar & Peta

Honestly once we weed out Sean and maybe Karamo the competition will be insanely stacked.
